“We Got The People To Do It”

January 9th, 2023

Joe heard this and got a vision of Bucs players holding hands in a big circle after they landed home in Tampa last night following a beatdown at the hands of the Falcons.

No mater what the record is, nobody can strip the Bucs of their big-game experience and talent. And that’s what Bucs fans from Temple Terrace to Tarpon Springs are banking on after an 8-9 season.

Buccaneers savior linebacker Devin White spoke to media in the locker room yesterday and noted how the Bucs have everything they need to march through the playoffs.

“We got the people to do it. We got the people that’s been in these situations before,” White said. “We just gotta hone in and go out there and do what we do best, and that’s dominate.”

Joe agrees with White (except the part about being best at dominating). The Bucs have the roster to beat the Cowboys.

And why can’t the Bucs’ defense win a big game for the team in the way that the 49ers’ defense or the Eagles’ wins games for its team?

This isn’t the Bucs roster of the 2020 and 2021 postseasons, but it’s enough juice to compete in a weak NFC. Joe sure hopes the coaches find a way to get the most out of the talent.

Maybe when DW grows up he can be more like LaVonte David

  2. Wokeizdunn Says:

You’ve got the people, Bucs, but you don’t have the “want to” in the people. They are not hungry–at least that’s what we have seen with 17 games. They could have run away with the division, and waiting to the last minute literally to get it. Close game in the first half yesterday against one of the worst teams in the league. Yeah, okay #45. Whatever.

  3. uhhhmmmmm Says:

    Falcons beat the 49ers too….

  4. SB~LV Says:

Last two weeks Devin White has been more concerned with running to the end zone for a sack celebration than lining up and taking it to the team again.

  5. Craig Says:

That’s bad news, because every time Devin says something his play says the opposite.

I did see him make a tackle yesterday, regretfully he got dragged past the first down marker before he got the guy down. Luckily the guy he tackled was half his size.

  7. Redeemer Says:

I think it’s pivotal the bucs get off to a fast start against Dallas. If they get down a couple scores, i doubt we can handle that pass rush. The cowboys are built to play with a lead. If we keep it close, my money is on Brady. It’ll require the defenses best game. Dak will throw us a couple. Wether we catch them or not is the question.

  8. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Dallas is not a good team on grass!!! Garrett mentioned that few times last night. Let’s take advantage, they did look very slow yesterday, alas grass field. Go Bucs.

  9. NEfan Says:

White has all the talent to be one of the best LB’s in the league,EXCEPT, he can’t tackle he wrestles, he is slow at reads and he over runs plays, quite often his speed and strenght make up for it. ALL these issues are easily correctable through coaching. All I know is I’ve watched for three seasons now and nothing has changed with him.

I will say I recently watch the last Dallas game and by far the D played their best game since the 2020 SB. After that, not so good.

  10. Steven007 Says:

White had a decent season. He obviously talks too much. And often can’t back it up with the kind of game he speaks of. But when the light bulb fully turns on, if that’s even a possibility, he really could be special. He improved slightly against the passing game. He obviously can be a wrecking ball as a pass rusher when unleashed. But his fundamentals when tackling aren’t the best.

  11. Surfcat Buc Says:

Why Not Us !!! We definitely have the players on both side of the ball to dominate the Dallas Cowdung!! Our problem has been lack of depth and lack of discipline. If we can have good to solid performances from our key players than yes, we can go far. Totally agree that D. White needs to stop talking, keep quiet and learn to become a leader. This is probably Lavonte David’s farewell run. You can’t replace his leadership easily. Hopefully White can take the next step.
    Go Bucs !!

  12. Redeemer Says:

NE, agree about White. How many times have we seen him pinned inside. He has all the ability in the world. This is still the NFL though. It’s hard to make plays when you have 300 pounders walling you off. His biggest problem is that he seldom plays within the scheme. Bowles has commented on this multiple times. Athletic ability does little good If you’re out of position. If we see the back of his jersey a bunch next week, it’s a bad sign.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Devin White is the least of our problems…..

  14. Bucanero Says:

I don’t know what Vegas says but I think Bucs are favorites. Got to step up Bucs ball this week. We need our linebackers back to 2020 shape. Much depends on the defense and Brady magic when necessary. You know he will make the plays happen. Go BUCS!

  15. Mike Says:

Brady’s willingness to stand in the pocket and wait for his WR’s to get open will be a big factor. I think earlier in the season, he’s like “bam, that balls coming out no matter what”, but now, it’s the playoffs, and he’s ready to re-embrace the no risk it no biscuit mentality and potentially take some hits if it means also getting some big plays in the passing game.

  16. Defense Rules Says:

Steven007 … ‘He (Devin White) improved slightly against the passing game. He obviously can be a wrecking ball as a pass rusher when unleashed. But his fundamentals when tackling aren’t the best’.

I agree with everything you wrote Steven, especially the above. White’s under contract for next season (his 5th year), but beyond that is he someone we can build a defense around? I think so, but I’m still not sure.

I feel pretty sure that next season LVD will be gone unless he’s willing to take a significant pay cut (not likely). The only starting CB under contract is Carlton Davis, and based on his injury history I wouldn’t feel comfortable building a defense around him (only gave us 13 games). I thought Winfield would be a great leader to build around, but his availability has sucked this year too (yup, 13 games also). White at least gave us 17 games; just wish he’d spend more time focused on the next play instead of the last play.

Beyond those 3, we’re hurting (as of right now). Vea gave us 14 games, but with limited def snaps in almost all of those (personally wouldn’t build a defense around him). Guess how many Bucs had double digit QB sacks? THREE (White 16; JTS 14; Vea 13). The next closest one had only SIX QB hits. In 2021 BTW we had SEVEN Bucs with double digit QB hits. Doesn’t bode well for our defensive future IMO. Interestingly this year’s defense gave up 358 points in 17 games and rank #13. Last season we gave up 353 points (only 5 less) and ranked #5.

Joe says, “Joe sure hopes the coaches find a way to get the most out of the talent.”

That’s a mighty big hope Joe seeing as how the coaching staff seems to be the weakest link on this team.

  18. HC Grover Says:

I thought they were supposed to clobber the Falcons in order to be revved up for the Cowpies. I am pretty sure that is what the story line was. Unfortunately it did not go the way Bowzo had it all planned. Instead they got drubbed by a bunch of scrubs. The Cowpie game will be a test of blunders. I think the Cowpies can actually outblunder Bowzo.

  19. BucU Says:

    DELUSIONAL.

  20. Buccos Says:

If I’m going into battle I want TB12 to be my general. He has seen it all and knows exactly what to do all of the time. He will impose his will on the battle and normally pulls it out in the end. If we can keep Dallas close into the 4th quarter then I like our chances.

  21. Cobraboy Says:

So, White the Mouth, where have “the people” been the last 18 weeks while you guys sucked?

  22. sasquatch Says:

The media should not rely on White as a spokesman for the team. The dude is a fooking m0ron. He’s all hot air and hype, not a brain cell behind it.

  23. Goatfarmer Says:

Typical blowhard Diva. You have some players who can get the job done. Your coaches have proven abysmal at offensive game planning, play calling, run block execution, and the defense blows gap assignments and coverages far more than a team that was well coached ever would. Diva, the only thing you nominate is the fog index of empty pregame speeches that make people roll their eyes like you’re JaMiss eating Ws.

Pay LVD. Let this clown get his $100M from
    Some other sucker.

  24. Infomeplease Says:

The defense should be fine! Bowles is good with his defense!! It’s his meddling with the offense that has been the problem!!! If he takes the handcuffs off of the offense and let’s TB12 be TB12, this team can advance!! Allow the passing game to set up the running game like the past 2 seasons. Use play action on first downs to freeze the linebackers. Pass out of 2 and 3 tight end sets and jumbo formations. Use more motion. Use more hurry-up. Basically make an attempt to confuse the Dallas defense or at a minimum get them thinking about what is going on.

  25. BashingBucs2520 Says:

Let Dak lose the game. Nothing over the top or deep mid and we’ll be good.

  26. steele Says:

We got the person to do it: number 12. I have little confidence in anyone else. And no confidence in Bowles.

  27. Kidfloflo Says:

I get the sick feeling Dallas left their bad game against the Commanders and will play a different game against us! We need to play our best game in what hopefully will be a close game till the end…I also feel the Bucs think they are gonna flip a switch come playoffs and have been waiting for it….which is a dangerous approach

  28. alton d green Says:

Yes you the people to do it. If only we had the coaching staff to do it

    Wow…
Look, Devin isn’t the brightest bulb on the tree. With that said, he’s still the brightest light that’s shining from the box “he came in”. He’s been better for us than most. In fact defensively, he almost single handedly won us a Super Bowl. Now I’m sure that I could do better than him because I’m that darn great! And I’m a heck of a Keyboard warrior and a Certified legend in my own mind when I’m clearly the best while I’m safe with my blanky at home snuggled up with my whiskey and my firey keyboard! I’m the best! Or am I a Certified Idiot? Nah, I’m the best! And of course the talent and physicality that can and has won a super bowl almost single handedly is simply lying everywhere. And of course any keyboard warrior can take out that sloppy, trying WAY HARDER to win slob Devin White, than I of course would need to with my pure presence on the battle field with my keyboard. Why I would have them shaking where they stand! Well just like say the guy samsquish. Yeah that’s a tough dude with a really scary looking computer. Or Goof Hearder. O my! I have no doubt that cat can run every bit of 15 feet before she hits the deck all tuckered out because it forgot it’s batteries for her mouse. But man look out if Goof Hearder finds those batteries! Again scary! And clearly a Top Flite judge of talent! Or was that fast food? Ah, can’t remember. Besides I’m so great it really doesn’t matter.
Well thanks heaven above for such brilliant, back it up, 9th string talent advisers that are found on any line to bring in the alternative talent. Should be SO EASY for samsquish and goof hearder to put together for us. Of course when that lay on us our new players to replace these bums I’ll PERSONALLY give it my thumbs up or down. Because of course I’m the Best! And they’re alright for 9th stringers. Don’t forget people, I’m rated at 8.5 stringer and I’ll get the final say! I believe I’ll start my rise in the “actual organization” in the hot dog and peanuts area and by no time flat I’ll be whispering in the glazers ears. I’ll mention of course that “I’m the Best at whatever it is I think I do but I won’t forget the little people like samsquish and goof hearder. Maybe I can get you in to the hostesses gig like me. You know while I’m behind my keyboard….. I’M THE BEST!

  32. Dwight Schrute Says:

Bunch of entitled numbnuts that think they’re too good to work hard.
    (i.e. terrible coaching)

  33. Dwight Schrute Says:

    Ego first!
Work 2nd…if at all (Too good to work! Already the best!)

  34. David Says:

White is very very good. The problem is we saw the Super Bowl run and realize the potential is there to be a perennial pro bowler and he has not been that.

Regardless, he is the least of their worries. They need to figure out who is being re-signed in the DB room, and like Joe, many of us would like to know what’s going on with Logan Hall and what else they can do on D line.

As for offense, they get Jensen and Stinnie back next year. The line is younger than you think. They have young tight ends getting better. They have a young running back. They have Evans, Godwin, Gage, & Thompkins moving forward at receiver.

On top of that, a lot of people are calling for a lot of coaches to be tossed out. The reality is most of these coaches are the same coaches that went to the Super Bowl. The majority of the coaches are not the problem.
BL, who I defended for several games, ended up being the problem. Obviously, Todd Bowles take some blame because he is the boss, but I am not ready to get rid of him because this defense, with all the injuries, performed really well and held up their end of the bargain. Lose him as head coach and now they’re getting a whole new defense as well.

But more about What Mental Fortitude your teammates have in this game.

    Go Bucs!

Hahahaha….. You did. Others did to I assure you. You know why? Because too many keep puking the same recycled crap. You’re gonna have to come up with something new buddy. You’re getting boring. And what I wrote is what happens when people get bored with the same Ole crap. O, btw, I actually like you. You need new material or else.
Hell, I’ll even shorten it for ya. I’m a gracious guy and I Am The Best! You’re a 9th stringer…. Don’t forget your batteries.
