Mike Evans Enjoys The Playoffs

January 11th, 2023

Mike Evans looks forward to the challenge.

A lot of NFL folks would have you believe postseason football is unlike any other football games played.

People run faster, hit harder, leave every ounce of energy on the field. Or so the belief is.

Mike Evans doesn’t totally agree with that. The best receiver in Bucs history spoke today to the local pen and mic club and explained what playoff football is for him.

It’s not a whole lot different than a regular season game, Evans said.

“It’s a little more intense but it’s the same, really,” Evans said. He likened playoff games to “a big-time primetime game. It has the same feel as that.”

Evans seems to thrive on the pressure of playoff games.

“It’s a win-or-go-home mentality and that brings out the best in teams,” Evans said. “I like being in those types of games.”

Since Evans was drafted in 2014, he suffered through five seasons of losing and one season where the Bucs fell just short of the playoffs.

But this postseason is getting to be a habit for Evans. Monday night when the Bucs host the Cowboys, Evans will play in his seventh postseason game in three years.

    Mikey likes it. Playoffs 2023

  2. NEfan Says:

Don’t get used to it Mike

  3. Redeemer Says:

Postseason football is different, although players don’t like to admit it. They are creatures of habit. Pressure either makes diamonds, or busts pipes. We’ve seen that plenty over the years. Some guys want the ball in their hands, some shy away. That enough cliches? Treating it like a regular big game, allows these guys to settle in. After they get going, in the end it’s just another football game. For the greats, an eerie calm seems to come over. Evans is certainly one of those guys. Thankfully for the bucs, same same with Brady. The pressure never seems to bother him

  4. Jack Clark Says:

That’s good insight from Mike Evans. The reasons why NFL players ALWAYS play their best EVERY playoff game is because they know they HAVE to win that game and they get paid more money if they win too.

  5. gbobucsfan Says:

    Go deep Mike!!!

  6. Buccos Says:

I can guarantee one thing. NEfan has never attended a Bucs game. Without a doubt. And never will

  7. Craig Says:

Not to mention that he has a ton of incentives in his contract that pay him for being in the playoffs.

  8. NEfan Says:

Buccos, you are correct sir. I almost bought season tickets when Brady signed to sell them.

  9. Mike pizzoli Says:

I myself was born a New England fan but followed Brady here because of how he was treated and because I felt he was most responsible for the dynasty. Most people here welcomed me on this site the past three years but one thing I wouldn’t do NEfan is throw it in their faces with my screen name. I’m just curious who you rooted for week 4 last year when the BUCS traveled to New England? I didn’t think about it for a second. I was BUCS all the way.

  10. HC Grover Says:

Bucs +3 I would take that bet.

  11. #8's Ghost Says:

I’m here for Suh & Suh only.

  12. Darin Says:

No redeemer it’s not different other than a few more nerves. Some people including myself treat every practice, game like it’s for all the marbles. These guys are competitors of the highest level. Most players are trying to win em all.

  13. Crickett Baker Says:

I wonder how many first playoff games Tom has missed over the years. Not many, I bet. GO BUCS!

  14. D-Rok Says:

Last week in a MUST WIN game, Brady AND Evans were Dy-No-Mite! Keep it going on Monday, guys.

From watching NFL last 40+ years, my opinion is that really, the ONLY game that is radically different is the Super Bowl, mostly due to the 2-week hype.

Either way, once a game begins, I’d wager most NFL players would say a game is a game regardless of playoffs or not. It’s just, some games count more than others, so the hype is different, but the game is similar.

We in the freakin’ playoffs, Bucs fans! Get hyped! Let’s GO BUCS!!!

  15. Infomeplease Says:

Not many better receivers in this league(ME13)!!! Not many better qb s in this league(TB12)!!! Not many better slot receivers in this league(CG14)!!! Not many better running backs in this league during the playoffs (LF7)!!! Put ’em together and who knows what can happen!!!

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

Glad he’s over the illness. Hope no one else got it. Wait — except for Toad Blowes and Bymron Leftardwich. Hopefully they come down with it so bad they are incapacitated and unable to be at the game Monday night.

  17. CrackWise Says:

“The best receiver in Bucs history and NFL history making wide receiver”.

There, I fixed if for ya Joe.

  18. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

When the buc players wake up in the morning befor this game, they will to the last man think; ‘we have Tom Brady, we can beat anyone’!

  19. NEfan Says:

Cricket, to answer your question he has missed the playoffs once in his career 2002.

Mike, to answer your question the Bucs.

  20. CrackWise Says:

    NEfan

You’re an idiot and you just proved it by saying you rooted for the Bucs. BUT you’re in luck most of us Bucs fans are used to idiots like you masquerading as authority figures on this team.

Can’t wait for Brady to retire so you leave.

  21. Mike pizzoli Says:

Glad to hear it NEfan, Bill really turned my stomach with his treatment of Tom the last 5 years in NE

  22. Reach87 Says:

Goatfarmer is T-Max. Troll full of hate. Same idiotic posts no matter the subject. Sad. Pitiful. Go Bucs!

  23. CrackWise Says:

Change your name to TBfan if you want to not come across as an idiot.

You know, only till he retires or goes to San Fran.

Then people will be really confused. That is until you explain to them that you’re not a Bucs fan, you’re just a huge Tom Brady nut hugger who hates San Fran and is butt hurt he is not still in New England. Who you won’t root for even if SF plays NE because that is how much you are a Brady fan.

Your such an Idiot and you know it.

  24. NEfan Says:

Mike, he lost me when he blew the Philly SB. Crackhead, I am a loyal Brady, and his great cast of teammates, doesn’t make me a bag guy. Used to be fun watching Brady play against Bowles Jets D, it was like a scrimmage.

  25. Bradyfan Says:

How’s that crackhead? More appropriate? It was listfrmafar but Joe gave me the boot.

  26. Bradyfan Says:

    How’s that crackhead more appropriate

  27. Goatfarmer Says:

Reacharound87 — sorry to have hurt your widdle feerings. Here. Have a cookie. And a bouquet of flowers . And a tampon.

From now on it’s nothing but roses and cotton candy from me, snowflake!!! You be you, girl.

  28. Redeemer Says:

NE is fooling us all. He’s really Big Jim from 98.5 the sports hub. Belichick thought Brady was becoming bigger than the team. Smug doesn’t begin to describe Bill and his faith in system. Turns out, without the greatest QB of all time, he’s just a really good coach. He’s Not the omnipotent figure many have made him out to be. No coach wins without great players. Something inside my childhood love of the 49ers is glad Belichick is suffering. I respect what they accomplished together. Bill called Brady the best player in the history of the game, before letting him walk over a two year 50 million dollar deal.

  29. Kentucky Buc Says:

Things are getting a little testy on here. Good entertainment.

  30. Bradyfan Says:

Yup, Bill offered him 1yr at $14M talk about an insult. All Brady wanted to make is what Brees was making.

  31. NEfan Says:

Yup Bill wanted to give him 1 yr at $14M. Not very bright.

  32. ChiBuc Says:

“Things are getting a little testy on here.”

Getting? Some of these testes never leave.

  33. Goatfarmer Says:

My testes are great, thanks to Reacharound87 setting me straight. No more negativity from me, Toad Bowels is great! Yay! What a great coach! Great game plans, great practices. How do we know? It’s the Bucs! They’re our team so nothing but positive vibes. Beat the Cowboys! Yay!

    Go!

    Fight!!

    Win!!!

  34. Fansince76 Says:

    Evans!
    Godwin!
    Jones!
    Gage!
    & Scotty!

    LETS GO!

  35. Miller5252 Says:

What’s the website that needs entered on comments. The last so many comments I made hasn’t been posted because I try to enter the website part. Always worked in the past, but now, they don’t get posted.

Anywho…. All I said in the short version…. Our receivers are better the D’s backend. They should dominate and get Evans going early. Our backend should shutdown Dallas with ease. Bucs should beat them easy and the remaining teams in the NFC should be worried. If for some stupid reason the Bucs lose…. Bowles needs to be torpedoed and Brady gets to pick the coach.

  36. Buccos Says:

Let’s not forget…Evans is so good he got Johnny Manziel a Heisman trophy and drafted in the 1st round. If Evans doesn’t catch it he will be interfered with or he will stop the DB from making an INT. It’s very low risk/ high reward. Especially when he is being single covered in man.

  37. NEfan Says:

Buccos yes and if it is intercepted or incomplete the game thread will be flooded with posts about how Brady is washed up. That’s how these fans roll. I doubt this is the same in KC, Buffalo, Chargers, Cincy etc. Who all have more ints than Brady and same completion %.

  38. ChiBuc Says:

@NE wrap your head around the following stats and try to remember football is a TEAM sport:

    Chiefs: 14 – 3
    Bills: 13 – 3
    Bengals: 12 – 4
    Chargers: 10 – 7

    Bucs: 8 – 9

    But, but, but….

When you’re the face, you get all of the credit and blame (well, TB can share blame with coaches). But I feel confident Brady will overcome criticism and win vs Dallas . The NFL is building narratives this year for image spinning and this narrative has a fitting anti-agism message.

  39. Fitz Says:

These are the games that the older veterans live for. I expect the Bucs to come out strong.

NE Fan; I too am a Brady fan for his entire career. What did we hear for most of his time with the Pats? Bilichick is a genious. Josh is a genious blah blah blah. What happened immediatey when Tom left. The Pats tanked. Josh went to the Raiders. they tanked get where i’m going?
