Micah Parsons Shows Vita Vea Some Love

January 19th, 2023

Real recognizes real.

Micah Parsons was doing Micah Parsons things against the Bucs on Monday night.

The All-World Dallas linebacker was everywhere and hounding Tom Brady. Parsons had a sack, two quarterback hits, two tackles for loss and two passes defended. That’s a helluva night.

After the game, Parsons took to Twitter to give Bucs defensive tackle Vea Vea mad love. In Parsons’ eyes, there are two NFL players never to tangle with. And one is Vea.

@MicahhParsons11: Bro there’s two people in the league I would hate to go against !! It’s big dex @llawrencesexy and @VitaVea ! 😂😂the amount of times I’ve seen them throw grown men back is outrageous!! #ballers like it’s unfair!

Joe remembers the 2021 season opener against the Cowboys, Vea was on fire. Dude was just about unblockable. Too bad Dak Prescott is so mobile.

Ah, happy memories when the Bucs had a good team and were feared.

Dreaming a little bit but if Brady comes back it might be because Bowles is gone and Vea switches to fullback. Then Micah will fear playing the Bucs.
Not a Leftwich fan but Brady seemed to like him and I can’t help but think he was hamstrung by Bowles’s “single” game plan for the season.

Ok Joe I gotta say it. This website this year has mirrored our bucs “dak parsons”? Cmon man, the editing has fallen from what it used to be. And not getting podcasts like we used too. Lets look forward to a better year eh?

Wasn’t Joe raving mad about Vea’s conditioning and inability to stay on the field, especially on key downs? I 100% agree with Joe about this assessment. We’re paying him too much money to be a part-time player.

    Shew

  5. Rod Munch Says:

If Vita drops about 50 pounds this offseason he could be more than a part time player who runs out of juice in the 1st quarter, then he’d be deserving of all the praise he gets. But the guy plays half the defensive snaps and is often on the sidelines when they really need him out there.

His college pro-day weight was 350, he’s probably at least 380 now. Get down to a Suh sized 330, and suddenly he’d be a lot more valuable.

I like Vita, I think he’s a good player, that’s why I want him on the field more. But that isn’t going to happen at his current weight.

@gp mentioned Vea at fullback. Simple concept but at least it’s some creativity with the players.

Rod Munch wants him on the field more 🤣

  9. Defense Rules Says:

First time I even looked at the Dallas game recap, but it looks like both Vea & Hicks got more def snaps in that game than almost any other (43 & 44 snaps). We actually got decent pressure on Dak on quite a few plays (21.6%) but his mobility negated a lot of that pressure. Dallas actually ran more than they passed (50.7%) and did it relatively effectively (3.7 YPR average). Good mix of plays that kept our defense off-balance much of the game.

A few other things about that game jumped out at me …

o Jamel Dean played 17 S/Ts snaps but ZERO defensive snaps.
o SMB played 97% of the def snaps at corner … and got roasted. He was targeted 5 times, gave up 5 completions for 88 yards & 1 TD. Even worse, he gave up 17.6 yards/completion.
o Carlton Davis fared better (6 targets; 3 completions) but he gave 2 TDs & allowed 17.0 yards/completion. Made 3 solo tackles but had 2 missed tackles. Yuck.
o LVD did great tackling (14 combined tackles; 9 solo), but got roasted in the passing game (6 targets; 6 completions).
o Devin White was seemingly non-existent out there. Got 5 combined tackles (3 solo), got tagged for 2 missed tackles, and was only targeted 2 times in the passing game (1 completion, but for 26 yards). Blitzed 7 times on the night, but no pressures or sacks to show for it.
o Mike Edwards had a mixed bag night with 10 combined tackles (6 solo) but got tagged in the passing game for 5 targets, 4 completions for 38 yards.

All in all, our Secondary wasn’t very impressive, and neither were our ILBs. Can’t figure out why Dean played S/Ts but not on defense though. He’s our best defender IMO when healthy.

Hey, Diva White — you want to be the best? Study Micah Parsons and shut up.

Dude was 30 pounds over his last years playing weight………
    And it showed

  12. Destinjohnny Says:

We missed on our last 2 first round picks
So Vea is our pass rusher moving forward….

  13. Your Mom Says:

For all of Dallas’ screwups, that 12th pick of the draft in Parsons was a grand slam home run.

  14. Browsing from DC Says:

I’ve been calling for Vea to tote the rock all season. Any time we’re at 1st and goal at the 5 or closer, hand that monster the ball, run him off right tackle behind Wirfs and good luck to any LB or puny DB trying to stop him coming at them with momentum. It worked with the Fridge and he was a good 50 lbs lighter at 320 or so. (Man is that weird to type).

Also 3rd or 4th down and a yard or two? No contest.

  15. Browsing from DC Says:

As for Parsons’ sack, that came against Wirfs of all people with a beautiful inside spin move that left Wirfs in the dust. You can believe our young stud tackle will be ready for that in the future tho. That kid is one of my favorite Bucs.

The only way we beat teams now is if the other teams can’t stop laughing at our ineptitude .
