Whale of a game, too.
Joe is giving a special shoutout here for a guy who will be overlooked and was overshadowed by his teammate Mike Evans.
And that would be Chris Godwin.
Godwin was a workhorse today. While Evans caught a dozen passes, Godwin was right up there catching every Tom Brady pass targeted his way, catching nine of nine targeted passes.
The main reason why Joe is giving Godwin props? Early in the fourth quarter, Godwin was truly gassed. His catches weren’t sprints to the end zone like Evans had. Godwin was catching short passes, getting decent YAC running through tackles while absorbing punishment catch after catch.
Yet Godwin dragged himself off the turf of The Licht House and balled out on pass routes like he had a fresh set of legs.
Godwin is WR1A or WR1B, depending on how you want to look at it. He’s that good, and after the game Evans also gave Godwin props for his play.
Yeah, Godwin had an ugly fumble early in the game. But Joe will overlook that given the total production Godwin. The final score helps wipe away an ugly memory.
When a guy busts his tail so much that you can tell he’s physically shot but finds the juice to continue to kick ass, that’s the kind of player Joe wants on the field.

Godwin was awesome today. Brady, Evans, Godwin, O-line, ALL played GREAT today.

Godwin over the last few weeks has looked like his old self. Even the fumble today I can’t even really complain b/c he tucked the ball away & the defender just made a really good play. He wasn’t being sloppy w/ the ball.

I mean everyone sees this, right? If we reversed quarterbacks its the same result. You have to play a below average NFL quarterback level to NOT throw for 300+ yards and multiple touchdowns with these receivers. Leftwich can’t be forgiven for the regular season.

Yeah the fumble sucked but he made up for it throughout the game. He’s such a workhorse and likeable guy. I wouldn’t trade Evans and Godwin for any other WR tandem in the league.

ME13 and CG14 are one of the best WR tandems to play the game. They both have well deserved SB rings. Wonder what it would be like to see a young QB play with them?

You saw it did you not? ..30 interceptions from your hero…..Brady makes them better and actually takes them to the playoffs.

Godwin did nothing wrong on the fumble defender made a play. If Godwin got his pads 3 inches lower then punch misses.

Godwin was clutch all day. Especially in the forth quarter. Great article Joes; he deserves a game ball as well.
One of the problems it seems to me with guys who go for the YAC is the occasional strip fumble. Ill take his fumble with a grain of salt. He got a LOT of YAC!
