Tristan Wirfs Had A Full-Go Friday

December 30th, 2022

Tristan Wirfs

Warrior right tackle Tristan Wirfs was a full participant in today’s practice at One Buc Palace, so it appears his banged up ankle will be ready for Sunday’s 1 o’clock kickoff.

As for left tackle Donovan Smith (foot), he was limited again in practice but Todd Bowles doesn’t rule him out for Sunday. Smith didn’t play Sunday against Arizona; Wirfs did but aggravated his ankle.

No player is officially ruled out for Sunday because of injury, though Bowles said it’s not looking good for edge rusher Carl Nassib (pectoral) and Carlton Davis (shoulder), who hasn’t practiced all week. He labeled them gameday decisions.

Will Coach Bowzo deploy his ‘Doomsday Game Plans’? That plan is in and they are practicing it today.

It sounds like both Tackles will not be playing at their best come Sunday

    Bad news for the Bucs

It’s over I don’t really think this team has a chance in hell to beat Carolina. I don’t even think they make the playoffs. A lot of tough decisions on players and coaches about to go down at one buc in a few weeks. Maybe we will see Trask vs Atlanta.

Sounds like we are generally healthy……have our front 7 on defense……..all but Davis in the secondary….Dean will be back & AWJ good….
On offense the tackles are hobbled but everyone else is healthy…..especially our WR corps.

Bucsfan81 I would love to see Trask even if we beat Carolina but I’m siding with you I think Carolina does us dirty

  6. Gbobucsfan Says:

Would be good to have Vea back for rush Def.

  7. NEfan Says:

Davis is a wuss. Take the shot, this is your playoff game. Win Sunday and let Atlanta look like a preseason game.

I have no expectation Bucs can win and clinch with this coaching staff, especially the holy trinity of coaching incompetence in Bowles, Leftwich and the clueless special teams coach. One if not all of them will cost us the game as they have all season long. Brady is gone and I hope the Glazers understand the seats will be empty as long as Bowles and Leftwich are here.

  9. D-Rok Says:

If we don’t start both Hicks and Vea, well, we are doomed.

Shut down the run and we have a slim chance. Otherwise, we get boat raced. I am hoping we win, or get beat down (coaches fired). Like most of you, I favor a rebuild unless there is a significant playoff run. Playoffs?!

  11. Goatfarmer Says:

If Toad and Boron can be ruled out, Bucs have a chance.

  12. FortMyersDave Says:

Vita Vea is soft and a borderline bust. Carolina wins big if Leftwich runs the offense or if Bowels goes turtle if the Bucs do the impossible and get a lead. Thespecial reams cosch is an imbecile, fire him, Leftwich and Toilet Bowels after Sunday’s loss.

So much is being said about Panthers rushing. Well they ran for 36 yard total against Ravens this season. Strangely, we ran more more (44 yards) against the Ravens.

This game is a playoff (play-in) game. Ultimate urgency and crunch time. It’s a 60 minute two-minute drill while playing from behind kind of game. The only time the Bucs O have looked like they had a pulse was in those situations. We’ll see if they rise to the occasion.

Yesterday on NFL Live, Mina Kimes said she “hopes” to see the Bucs open up the offense, run play-action, etc. and picked them to win in a close game. She then laughed and said they’ll probably just run up the middle for no gain all day. That’s the most obvious Bucs joke to everyone outside of Bowles. She says she always picks the Bucs and that they’re like that toxic boyfriend that she keeps taking back and can’t quit. Lol

These guys on offense don’t exist in isolation. They talk to each other “after hours” and many are close friends. They seem to have quit on Bowles throughout this season and the frustration of his “ball control” old-school offense that hasn’t worked has everything to do with some of their mental lapses and giving up on plays and running lazy routes.

In other words, they haven’t “bought in” to Bowles’ philosophy and you can’t win if you don’t believe in what you’re trying to do as a team. When Brady arrived, they all believed. They had faith in BA’s offense and had faith that Brady could make that offense hum. It took a while in 2020 but they never stopped believing in themselves, the coaches or the game plans and it paid off. Now? These guys are defeated mentally before the first snap under Bowles. After 15 games they have all the proof they need to know they’re not playing to their strengths and it’s killing morale.
