Saints & Panthers Win; Pressure Cooking On Bucs In NFC South

December 24th, 2022

The pressure is jacked up on Todd Bowles’ troops.

Things did not go well for our beloved Buccaneers today.

Hopefully Tampa Bay players and coaches watched it all in Arizona and followed it up with a long look in the mirror.

Carolina thumped what arguably was the hottest team in the NFL, the Lions, to up their record to 6-9. Detroit falls to 7-8. The Panthers ran for 200-plus yards in the first half to jump out to a 17-point halftime lead and then held on to win.

In frigid Cleveland, the Saints (6-9) miraculously held on for a 17-10 win, while creepy Browns QB Deshaun Watson was victimized by three end-zone drops in the game.

Atlanta is now 5-10 after losing in Baltimore.

So the Bucs are 6-8 with a game tomorrow night at The Bird Cage in Arizona. Technically, it’s not a “must-win,” but now their Jan. 1 game at home against Carolina official is a must-win.

Joe is glad the pressure is ramped up on the Bucs. Time to see what they’re made of — again.

Atlanta officially will be eliminated from the playoffs with a Bucs win, which means they’ll officially be tanking (most likely) when the Bucs head to Atlanta for the season finale.

Panthers division. As usual the Bucs will blow it

  2. Arn platz Says:

Panthers. With interim head coach, no marquee players, just winning. Perfect example of what GOOD coaching can do. Bowles and leftwich are not that coach. This will become very clear in the next 8 days

  3. HC Grover Says:

If they lose 2morro what then?

  4. Bucs go Bucs Says:

Look how mental fortitude is working out in NE against cincy. Bucs don’t have them.

  5. Vlad The Impaler Says:

I hope they dont take a big. nasty bowelswich on my Christmas

  6. D-Rok Says:

    Grover,

If they lose tomorrow, the Bucs do not deserve to win the division, as they didn’t earn it. Let’s hope they win, but I’m not counting on it. Too inconsistent.

  7. BucfaninMi Says:

The way they’ve been playing, I don’t see another win.

  8. Vlad The Impaler Says:

NE down 22-0 to Bengals at half are about to comeback and win.
    Difference between Bucs and NE……coaching

  9. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Glazers must be humiliated

  10. Anonymous Says:

    What are they made of?

    A: 💩💩💩💩💩

  11. Ben the GA Buc Says:

So they are Carolina officials in the Panthers game next week?

    We’re doomed.

  12. AB Says:

Sorry guys, Panthers are winning the division.

  13. Stormy Says:

If Bowles misses the playoffs, with this team – he should be canned without hesitation.

No amount of spin or excuse making can remove that stench.

  14. Arn platz Says:

From what I have read about the dysfunction and turmoil in AZ the Bucs might just win. Then we have the panthers ( not confident here) and finally the Falcons (with nothing to play for) But what then? Playoffs humiliation?

  15. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

@vlad actually Joeys had 3 int and Chase fumbled and the Pats embarrassed themselves again at the end, so not sure about the coaching reference ? Go Bengals

  16. HC Grover Says:

Bucs can still lose 3 more. 6-11 will not do it.

  17. Winny Testaverde Says:

I’m in Joe Jail it appears…but attempting a comment nonetheless. Counting on the Lions on the road was iffy at best. Saints held on as Odjuku dropped an easy one ( go figure ) and Watson looks washed.

No backing in Bucs…I’m afraid. They need to earn it anyways.

  18. Winny Testaverde Says:

And The Atlanta Arthur’s will want revenge Week 18…

  19. AmauryGuzman Says:

I believe the saints don’t have any chance to win this division anymore. Only the panthers.

  20. Pewter Power Says:

Time to see what they’re made of — again.

We know what they’re made of, this has been a playoff team since Brady arrived,BA left and it all went to crap. I don’t trust this coaching staff to get this team in the playoffs. I don’t believe they’ll beat Carolina they way they play

  21. AmauryGuzman Says:

There’s pressure on tv now. Sick of toilet Bowles and this staff.

  22. Aceofaerospace Says:

The fact that we’re rooting for 5-9 teams to lose to help us make the playoffs shows our season is already lost. We’re just clinging on. Sad times.

  23. Armybucsfan Says:

I agree with most of you. If the Bucs lose tomorrow to Arizona both Bowles and leftnut should be fired and find their own way back home. Arizona is 4-10 and if you asked me last year what our win loss ratio would have been if we kept the coaches in place I’d tell you we would be 12-3 but these coaches seemed hell bent to fixing an offense that did NOT need fixing. We went from being to 5 scoring offense 2 years in a row to looking allergic to the end zone this year. Hell, mike evans only has 2 TDs I believe this year. Now watching the Bucs and their lethargic offense this year makes me wonder if we even deserve a chance in the playoffs. More over, if we make the playoffs I pray we don’t keep Bowles and leftnut next year. Brady will most likely go somewhere else and we’re in cap hell. I do not see many positive spins on this team at the moment.

  24. Pelsbuc61 Says:

    We know exactly
what they’re made of… choke artists with no energy, pride or motivation. Horrible coaching staff. This team does not deserve to compete for a playoff spot and hopefully the entire coaching staff will be fired after the Atlanta game.

  25. Steven007 Says:

Vlad, that first comment didn’t age well. Looks like having a career defensive coordinator as your offensive coordinator isn’t the answer either.

Yes, if only we had the Carolina Panthers coaches we’d be 6-9 instead of 6-8!!!!

NE down 22-0 to Bengals at half are about to comeback and win.
    Difference between Bucs and NE……coaching

Was the disaster last play of that NE vs. Raiders game last week part of the difference between NE and Bucs coaching too??? Smh

  27. BucfaninMi Says:

Considering that they’ll be playing against backup QBs and rookie in the last 3 games, the D will get lit up!

  28. AmauryGuzman Says:

Lose tomorrow and no doubt this coaching staff should be fired right now on the spot. No point in letting them finishing the season.

  29. Vlad The Impaler Says:

LOL NE had 1st and 10 at the Bengals 10 yard line with 1 minute left down by 4 points. Then they imploded.

I still think NE played the Bengals better than the Bucs did.
Bucs entire 2nd half was a humiliating collapse on every level, especially coaching….and yes…..Belicheat is 10x better coach than bowelswich

  30. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Conversely, NE 2nd half was a huge comeback ending inches form a win

  31. BucfaninMi Says:

I know there are a lot of people who won’t agree with this, but Warren Sapp needs to be a coach or be involved in some capacity. He’s a Buccaneer for life, he cares what happens with this team. Tell me he couldn’t fire up a football team. Can’t hurt. He did put this team in the conversation when he arrived.

  32. Anonymous Says:

Unreal really is! This division should have been wrapped up! Carolina been through 3 QBs a head coach n traded their best back n yet they are breathing down Bucs neck. That alone should call for a coaching change what a clown show bowels has us in

  33. BucfaninMi Says:

Call me crazy but, I think Warren Sapp needs to be part of the new coaching staff. He’s a Buc for life. He gets it! He changed the culture once…

  34. BucfaninMi Says:

C’mon Joe why aren’t my comments showing up???

  35. BucfaninMi Says:

    Three now

  36. Dwight Schrute Says:

Question: Which is better, offense or defense?
Answer: Neither. Theyre both equally important!

  37. Winny Testaverde Says:

Welcome to Vlad The Inhaler aka The Flushin’ Russian…bringing quality content/commentary to the board/bored.

It truly all comes down to next week vs The Panthers…and they’re rollin’.

My bet/guess is next week’s Buc/Panther game will be flexed to the Sunday Night game.

  38. steele Says:

If the Bucs can’t beat the Cards with….TRACE MCSORLEY at QB…they don’t deserve to even be considered p-p-p-playoff worthy.

  39. Anonymous Says:

If Bucs flops Bowles is gone!

  40. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Vlad is Romanian.

  41. JimmyfromNY Says:

The Bucs played the Bengals better. The Bengals basically tried to give the game away in the second half after building a commanding lead. A terrible pick six, dropped touchdown pass followed in the end zone follow by miss FG and a lazy fumble.

  42. Goatfarmer Says:

Soft Bowelswich Bucs lose out. All talk, all cowardice and stupid.

    Done.

    Let it be March.

  43. Vlad The Impaler Says:

NE final score was much closer.
NE had a real chance to win at the end.
…..but believe whatever helps you sleep at night Byron

  44. Kentucky Buc Says:

    Vlad III

  45. Bill in Seminole Says:

The Bucs are currently a 7.5 point favorite against the Cardinals, per FanDuel. What are they seeing that we don’t see?

  46. Vlad The Impaler Says:

NE final score was much closer.
NE had a real chance to win at the end.
Bucs stopped playing at the beginning of the 2nd half.

  47. Winny Testaverde Says:

My apologies, Vlad, made me do some research and I learned something g today. Do you have a sweet cookie duster/mustache a la the Dracula like fella?

Watching The Pats…and that tulip Mac Jones snatch defeat from the jaws of victory was fun. Cincy is awfully lucky…

  48. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Surrender noted

  49. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    Mac Jones id pretty bad.
Amazing what a smart coach can do with limited talent

  50. Vlad The Impaler Says:

    ..or visa versa

  51. Goatfarmer Says:

The Bucs will wish they were home for Christmas. They don’t want to play. Bowels has infected them with indifference, they get paid the same regardless.

    It’s over.

  52. Vlad The Impaler Says:

(i.e. amazing what a poor coach can do to great talent)

    #CoachingMatters

  53. Winny Testaverde Says:

The shine has come off Belichick post Brady. He should surrender and let Matt Patricia and his Corky son completely run the franchise into the ground. Kraft’s young wife will be the owner before long anyhow.

  54. AmauryGuzman Says:

Has this team played 60 minutes all season? When they get down they seeemd to give up. Pitiful. Again lose tomorrow and this coaching staff should be showned the door.

  55. Goatfarmer Says:

    I’m ready for March Madness.

  56. Yucs2Bucsr Says:

Who cares about New England or Vlad and let’s talk about how the Yucs don’t deserve to make the playoffs and hopefully will get a top 10 pick after they lose tomorrow and against the Panthers and Atlanta. I said the Saints will sneak in, but you really want to see Tom and these idiots get blown out against Dallas

  57. Cobraboy Says:

    Bucs staring at 6-11.

  58. JimmyfromNY Says:

Vlad- BB is in a different universe than Todd Bowles. However He’s been exposed without BradyDecember football was where the Patriots separated themselves . Hoodie is 3-15 in December without Brady Brady is 14-4 without Belichick.iDecember and January football players and coached make they’re legacies.

  59. AmauryGuzman Says:

Yucs stop with that nonsense. I am still hoping they make the playoffs and win their next 3 games. Brady owns the cowboys despite this lousy coaching staff.

  60. AmauryGuzman Says:

JimmyfromNY he’s still a heck to a coach. I think his biggest mistake was hiring Patricia as an OC. Brainless move.

  61. PewterStiffArm Says:

It is amazing how other teams in this league score points, consistently, all over the NFL. We can’t even get first downs, how embarrassing. Thanks Leftwich for destroying the integrity of this team. We look flat every single game, all the way around. I wouldn’t be surprised if we choke and miss the playoffs.

  62. Deeez NATZ Says:

This ish show will not win another game this year,COACHING IS IN THE TOILET BOWELS

  63. Ed Says:

Tom Brady’s successor is lighting up the scoreboard in Dallas right now. Gardner Mishue is exactly what the Bucs need, a mobile athletic quarterback with smarts.

And while we are picking Philly’s scraps let’s bring their offensive coaches. That is an unstoppable offense whether Hurts is playing or it’s Mishue.

  64. HC Grover Says:

As a certified dyslexic I am confused…Q is there any way the Bucs can lose the division to the Panthers, and how?

  65. Winny Testaverde Says:

HC…Bucs lose to The Panthers…it’s basically the Panthers division. Huge game next Sunday. The Arizona game believe it or not doesn’t necessarily help or hurt The Bucs cause. The Bucs need to beat the Panthers and then Falcons to clinch the division.

  66. AmauryGuzman Says:

Lane Johnson hurt for the eagles? That could be a disaster for the eagles. Can’t lose that guy.

  67. Gofortheface30 Says:

The mere thought of the Bucs rushing for 300 yards like what Carolina did today is pure comedy. If the. I’ve lose to Trace F’ing McSorely tomorrow then I pray to god Carolina wins this division and everyone here gets fired

  68. Jerry Says:

It’s basically coming down to the Panthers game. That’s really it. Arizona game doesn’t really do much other than help with possible tie-break scenarios.

The Carolina game is for essentially the division.

  69. AmauryGuzman Says:

Jerry no. They need to win the arizona game. If they lose i believe they still have to win their last two remaining games to win the division.

  70. joe russo Says:

Certainly not defending Bucs coaches, they are horrible but don’t blame them as they are where they are due to diversity. This is the world we live in, quite disappointing. Keep in mind the significant injuries the Bucs have incurred from the second day of training camp on. Obviously, injuries are part of the game, however, NO team can overcome injuries to the key positions the Bucs have sustained. Blame it on the training staff, fair, bad luck, fair, or whatever you choose but they are real and significant. Coupled with inept coaching and Bucs are done.

  71. HC Grover Says:

TX for replies. So next week is for the title! Unreal. Winner takes NFC Clown Division! And the Cowboys just beat the Eagles. Those 2 teams are the road to the NFC Championship if Bucs can beat the Panthers is what it appears.

  72. AmauryGuzman Says:

HC Grover i don’t believe they win the division if they lose tomorrow and win against the panthers. They still have to win their last game i believe as well.

  73. AmauryGuzman Says:

If the bucs lose tomorrow fire this staff already. If they win tomorrow all they have to do is beat the panthers and they win the division.

  74. Mike Johnson Says:

We will see what our Buc team has left in the tank. Are we capable of running the table? I am not confident but hopeful. Bucs better bring it hard in AZ. This is not an easy game. That dome is loud out there. And the fans in AZ support their team. I am just worried about our O line holding up. AZ luvs to blitz and hit hard. As my gramps use to say, this is n ut cutting time baby. Poop or get off the pot.

  75. alton green Says:

can we beat AZ? only God knows. Heaven help the Bucs. Carolina had 570 yards on the lions. If they protect Darnold we know he will be carving the turkey

  76. alton green Says:

STORMY, you nailed it. There are reasons and there are excuses. They are not the same. there is a reason but there’s no excuses. Goodbye loser Todd. If he’s still there next year, i’m moving further north and I HATE cold weather. Right now i live about 850 miles north. I will cheer for Southern New Hampshire University

  77. Killian Says:

Considering we beat the Saints twice, that’s not much of a concern. There should be no reason why we can’t win these last 3 games.

  78. Kentucky Buc Says:

Everybody hitting the eggnog hard tonight. 😂 Crazy Mofos on here.

  79. brooks Says:

Here we go im doing so well last week picked a perfect score.
    Why not…
Cardinals 24 Bucs 21. No choice

  80. Tony Says:

WE’RE JUST CATFISHING EVERYBODY & MAKING EVERYBODY THINK WE CAN’T DO ANYTHING. THEN IF THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE GONNA GO BACK TO SCORING 40 POINTS A GAME! WE’RE JUST REELING EVERYBODY IN RIGHT NOW!🤣

I’d have more faith in my cat running it all over Bowels & Leftwich.

  81. Tony Says:

I think I’d have more faith in Antonio running the offense right now over Bowels & Leftwich.🙄

  82. BucU Says:

First off Merry Christmas to everybody!
Hope it’s a good one for you all. Looks like 90% of us Buc fans have zero confidence in this team at this point. No enthusiasm. No focus. No fortitude. We’re two miracle finishes away from being 1-8 the last 9 games. Unacceptable. This is a bad football team and we have no reason to believe they’re going to win any game left. No expectations here so there won’t be any dissapointment when they’re sent packing.
Regardless I wish everybody a Merry Christmas.

  83. AmauryGuzman Says:

People here are nuts. I am still not giving up despite this crappy coaching staff. I will say one thing if they lose tomorrow the coaching staff should be fired. Anyway i expect this team to come out with some effort tomorrow.

  84. Jermime Says:

Philadelphhia losing helps tampa too. They play carolina in 2 weeks. They can’t afford either with dallas not far behind.

It doesn’t matter though. They won’t bench brady or fire lftwhich. They may beat arizona, but will miss the playoffs. Oh well.

  85. steele Says:

Watching some of the games today, it is an unpleasant shock to see how different other teams look compared to the Bucs. Fast, aggressive, executing, high energy and enthusiasm, even the losing teams. We have not seen the Bucs perform that way all season. With that look: December playoff football.

Minshew looked good in a losing effort (not his fault). Brock the C ock, still doing it.

  86. Tony Says:

Bruce is coming down from the front office & talking over these next couple of weeks. He’s benching Bowels & Leftwich.🤣

I wish! In a perfect world, yes. In the real world, no. He’s going to let the massive train wreck play out and then walk away shaking his head.

It sucks how the Glazers are constantly trying to pass off sh*t HCs on the fans. The only real, pricey, CEO-style HC’s they’ve ever had are Gruden and Arians. The rest were failed attempts to save money

  88. Dwight Schrute Says:

    Bucs will win the division?
    FALSE!!
    Panthers will win the division.
    Any Idiot could see that.

  89. Goatfarmer Says:

    Bowels. Leftlurch.

    Beavis. Butthead.

Which of the two form a more effective coaching tandem?

  90. firethecannons Says:

I have zero confidence in todd bowles ever since that stupid play versus Rams last year in the playoffs, I have no faith at all that he can coach this team to a win or a playoff, his record sucks you are your record. I am speaking truth.

  91. Bucfan1988 Says:

This is about the 4th time I’ve said this ….

Before the 49’rs game, I made announcement that Bucs will not win another game….

    PANTHERS will win division…

I’m still sitting in that position as of now….

Dear BOWLES & LEFTWICH, prove me wrong, I DARE YOU!!!

  92. Christos Says:

    Merry Xmas to everyone.
Based on what we re watching so far this season and how the Panthers playing lately i dont consider us the favorites to win the South.
Who would have thought we ll be saying this but is true. I give Panters the more probability to get the Division. We shall see

  93. RuKa_44 Says:

@Ira: what about those Panthers chances now?….

  94. George Says:

    Merry Christmas
    Go Bucs

  95. Eric b Says:

Its not over until its over. Time to go with what works. 1st half against Cincinnati and we can beat any team. First goal win the damn division. Get a home playoff game for second goal. LFGO

  96. bucsfaninOregon Says:

What an incredible joke our heroes are. Fans all over this site can see that the Bucs of Dec. of ’22 have zero spark, originality and ability to dominate ANY team. Losing to the Cards with 3rd string QB should be impossible (except they did it with the 49rs). Regardless, I see no way they beat the Panthers.
What a waste of TB12. You younger fans: you’ll never see a better Buc QB for the next 30 years. Write it down! And, we threw it away- -sigh.

  97. david Says:

They will lose to Arizona and Carolina and Carolina wins the division. Merry Christmas.
