Buccaneers 17, Saints 16

December 5th, 2022

Huge night day for Rachaad White!

Absolute insanity!

What a roller coaster ride of emotions at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters. The Bucs offense was absolutely dreadful until midway through the fourth quarter.

And then came the standoff. Tom Brady wanted to go for it on 4th-and-long in deep in Bucs territory — yes, Bucs territory — and Todd Bowles said no chance.

The Bucs defense held and then Brady was nearly perfect on the final two Bucs touchdown drives to seal the dramatic win with just a few ticks left on the clock.

Asked about getting ripped off the field when he wanted to go for it, Brady said after the game, “Great job by Coach Bowles. Indeed it was. Scoreboard.

So many heroes on the final drive. What a stunning catch by Julio Jones. What a route and catch over the middle by Scotty Miller. Cade Otton coming alive. And rookie Rachaad White was money on the final throw with the game on the line.

And best of all, it came against the hated and slimy Saints, and now the Bucs (6-6) have a commanding 1 1/2 game lead on the Falcons (5-8) with five games to play. And the Bucs own the tiebreaker edge with Atlanta. The Saints (4-9) are as good as dead, and Carolina (4-8) is hanging around.

Much love for the Bucs defense, which looked more stout with Anthony Nelson and Carl Nassib getting as much or more work than Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

Huge night for Lavonte David (10 solo tackles and a sack), and the Bucs probably lose without Keanu Neal’s bone-crushing hit on the Saints’ final drive.

Winning feels so damn good — and it covers up a whole lot of stink!

Tremendous win but coaching was still gutless.

  2. BradentuckeyBuc Says:

Todd Bowles is a football genius! Extend him 10 more years NOW!

  4. tampabuscsbro Says:

anyway don’t let this distract you from the fact at minimum Bryon needs to go.

  5. AmauryGuzman Says:

Coaching still stinks. Unfortunately i don’t think this team will be able to overcome the lousy coaching in the end.

  6. sasquatch Says:

    Didn’t deserve that win.

We were only a few minutes away from a much improved chance of seeing Leftwich fired tomorrow, but they blew it and won. Now his job has been spared another week,

Happy for Brady, He is indeed the GOAT.

  7. gotbbucs Says:

Shout out to Josh Wells. Cam Jordan isn’t an easy assignment, and he held up all night.

  8. Greg Says:

Keanu Neal + Cade Otton + The Goat = Dub

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

Joe slow with the articles. Had to write new ones.lol. Understandable.

  10. PassingThru Says:

    Two lessons in the comeback:

    1. The Bucs should play more uptempo ball.

    2. The Aints abandoned the middle of the field during the last two possessions, focusing on the sidelines in order to play out the clock. Huge mistake, Brady is uber elite between the hash marks. Why can’t the Bucs do that more often? Because they lack the personnel this season. The O Line sucks, and the TEs and WRs on hand just aren’t adept at quick separation between the hash marks this season.

  11. AmauryGuzman Says:

Next week could be ugly i am afraid.

  12. Anonymous Says:

    Wells > Smith lol

  13. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

No huddle 90% of the snaps and we’re good

  14. HawaiianBuc Says:

Good win, now let’s fire Bowles!

  15. Buc4evr Says:

Great, but the offense was dead until crunch time.

  16. AmauryGuzman Says:

PassingThru why is that? Has Evans lost a step? Godwin is clearly not at speed.

  17. Curse of Gruden Says:

Should have run it on the last play. Leftwich is an idiot.

  18. AmauryGuzman Says:

I can only imagine our record if we had a competent coaching staff. Probably 9-3.

  19. Jack Sparrow Says:

Are the Brady bashers going to have a goodnight sleep ? 🤣

  20. dmatt Says:

Zyon McCollum Looks like a list puppy out there. He’s terrible at coverage and a poor tackler. Joe Tryon-Shoyinka is a waste of a draft pick. He too is lost and out of his element. Thanks for Carl Nassib’s heads up play making.

  21. PassingThru Says:

Godwin was amazing at that last season, but he still isn’t 100%.

Jones… too old now. He’s no AB.

Evans is more of a contested catch guy than a separation artist.

  22. GumboIsForWinner Says:

That’s what I’m talkin about!! That’s why he’s the MVP!!! That’s why he’s the GOAT!!! The GOAAAAAAT!!!!!!

  23. Nick Says:

These coaches are gutless and incompetent

  24. Stormy Says:

    Brady bailed out Todd Bowles.

  25. PassingThru Says:

And no Gronk. Otton is no Gronk.

  26. Jack Sparrow Says:

Brady just extended the stay of Bowles and Leftwich for another week. 🤣

  27. Sean Says:

Bowles and Leftwich’s effect on the offense is similar to the effect of opioids on the digestive track. Not sure what Brady is in this metaphor. Broccoli?

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A very big win…..this should be evidence that we need to open it up on our offense……2 turnovers and we still win,

We should give huge credit to the defense for those 2 stops late in the game and holding them to FGs early……

    And yes…..Neal did some THUMPING!!!

  29. Destinjohnny Says:

People can blame the coaching all day but i put it on the gm.
We have the worst offensive line in football

  30. nwbucsfan Says:

Honestly, I have pretty much given up on this coaching staff and season. But that was a great feeling win.

  31. tampabuscsbro Says:

No he isn’t but at least he is a reasonable TE.

  32. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Leftbytch LOVES Brady. Rightfully so. With a mortal QB Lefty would be 1-11 right now.

  33. Frank Pillow Says:

I mean, can we pls still fire Byron and Todd?

  34. Redeemer Says:

Thomas Edward Patrick Brady. That TD catch was eerily reminiscent of those squat, jerk routes the Patriot always ran. Stick him in the gun and let him call his game.

  35. Curse of Gruden Says:

Bowles the Clown riding the goat to the division title.

  36. Jack Sparrow Says:

Happy for this win. However, with this type of plays we will be crush by dallas in the first round.

  37. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

We don’t need to die anybody.

We just need to demote Bowles back to D coordinator and re-install BA as HC and we’re good to go….

    Do it, Glazers and Licht!!!

Don’t be scared to do the right thing!

  38. tampabuscsbro Says:

Yes Johnny usually you don’t have as good as an offensive line when your pro bowl guard retires, Your pro bowl center and your all pro right tackle are out with injuries.

They replaced the right guard with a better player drafted another….He isn’t good but oh well. IDK what you expect? you can only patch so many holes when things like this happen.

  39. VATom Says:

Only time they look competent is when Tom is calling the plays in the 2 min.

  40. Costa Rica John Says:

This should prove to our coaches that we are a passing team. Let Tom throw and use me up tempo to keep the other teams defense from substituting.
The Bucs still don’t look like a playoff team but this win helps.

  41. AmauryGuzman Says:

I just hope we can be competitive against the 49ers. Bucs could be playing for the 3rd seed in that game.

  42. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Bowles is a good DC but poor HC. He needs to get more emotional and lead from the front. If he could do that Vlad would cut him some slack

Lefty is just bad. Should be coaching at Plant

  43. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The whole game was worth it, for those last minutes.

  44. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

    * fire, not die. Yikes Lol

  45. JA Says:

Thought Brady’s easily discernible, “Let’s f—ing go!” while exiting the field was the highlight of the evening for profanity lovers everywhere.

  46. AmauryGuzman Says:

Costa Rica the bucs will make the playoffs but they can’t overcome their lousy coaching.

  47. MelvinJunior Says:

I thought the exact same before logging on, My Fellow “Kentuckian!!!!” Haha. But, THAT… Was ALL On Brady. Period. And, I really didn’t have a problem at all there, with ‘punting’ – Pretty much HAD TO in that situation… I looked-up and saw where the ball was, & said it then. So, it was absolutely, NOT some “genius” move there, by Bowles. Not at ALL.

  48. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Only time they look competent is when Tom is calling the plays in the 2 min.

    Fire Leftward ffs

  49. Natron Says:

Yup, they should have lost, but they won, a quintessential example of winning ugly. Now on to San Francisco, where things could get real ugly

  50. Jack Sparrow Says:

Last 5 minutes Bowles told Brady do your stuff and dont listen to lefty anymore. hahahaha

  51. SB Says:

WHAT I saw was when we stopped running the ball on first down we scored TWO TDs in a row.]

You guys can get stuck on what you want to.

  52. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Leftwich needs to be fired to have a prayer in the playoffs

  53. AmauryGuzman Says:

49ers are a physical team. We seemed to struggle againsh those type of teams.

  54. AmauryGuzman Says:

Didn’t know the 49ers where ranked number 1 defensively. Yikes.

  55. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Next week is a loss. Sorry

  56. Jack Sparrow Says:

is the overpaid Jensen ready to comeback? he was in the sidelines counting his money 😡

  57. Sean Says:

With Jimmy G badly injured yet again, I think we all know who’s going to be the 49er QB next year, and it ain’t Trey Lance.

  58. BucsBro Says:

I still can’t believe they won.

That’s what having a GOAT can do for a team. You win games you should not win.

Now can we PLEASE use the hurry up offense more so we don’t get into these holes?

  59. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Nassib and Nelson are clearly better football players than Jill Tryon-Sissyinka.

  60. CrackWise Says:

Did that Not feel like a WWF match?

  61. Jack Sparrow Says:

Brady will be going to the 49ers next year to get his 8th and 9th ring. I guarantee it.

  62. Old Sombrero Says:

Brady looking like we always wanted to see.
    Gotta score more points earlier.
D Smith gotta stop those penalties.
    Where be Jameis?
Great win. Let’s keep it going.

  63. sasquatch Says:

Turns out you actually CAN put lipstick on a pig.

  64. Natron Says:

Tom always wanted to be a 49ner

  65. Chris Stewart Says:

This goes down as (one) of the best moments in Bucs history ! Of course behind the two Super Bowls, and Barbers INT that sent us to the first! Crazy insane Bucs win, and the fact they played like they did and still pulled out plays when they needed them cements it !

  66. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs scored 3 points with Leftwich calling the plays.

Then they finally went to no huddle, which removes Leftwich from the mix, and Brady gets 14 points in 5 minutes.

Gee, I wonder who the problem is?

This goes down as (one) of the best moments in Bucs history

A win vs a 4-8 Saints team is one of the best moments in Bucs history? Wow, when did you become fan, like a month ago?

  68. Dmantx Says:

Man, what a win. What a swirl of mixed emotions. I’m elated we won but listening to fans on talk radio, it was another frustrating win. We are mad. We are happy. Glad we won, please let this spark some change in the O but thank God we have Brady for a few more games. Go Bucs!!

  69. Redeemer Says:

Yeah, next week the coaching disparity, and the talent will be very tough to beat. Even though the 9ers have a rookie, I expect a game much like tonight.

  70. Pewter Power Says:

Maybe leftwich so call plays from the booth, he’s struggling on the field to come up with plays that sustain drives

  71. sasquatch Says:

Leftwich still needs to be fired.

  72. I’m not tired anymore we just won the Super Bowl!! Says:

Not going to lie I left the game yelling at everything. Not typical of me but I just saved myself from losing it completely. Quit playing these madden games on me.

  73. Beeej Says:

I got disgusted after yet another 3 and out, turned off tv after Aints hit 16. Took dogs for a walk, played a couple games of World of Warships, check back in…and we WON 17-16, WTF???

  74. Anonymous Says:

What a win, thank God I’ll be able to sleep.
Coaching still sucks. Zion was woeful , Carl N huge game, Neal’s hit on Hill was huge. Lenny had good game. Donovan is the most penalized player in the league?!
How good are we in the 2 minute drill and terrible in Lefty’s offense.

  75. FortMyersDave Says:

The Bucs should let Leftwich call plays from the sideline into a microphone that goes into the ether where no one hears him while a competent OC actually calls the plays to Brady and company from upstairs. Sure, after a few times that his run for a yard and a cloud of dust is not run on first down he may become suspicious but then again he may not, that is how inept I believe our OC to be! Nice win but as others have stated, this probably means Leftwich and Bowels will hang around until the end of the season. On the other hand, with the Saints having a bye week, they could do some firing of their own. Saints fans and press want Dennis Allen and their OC fired yesterday as well.

  76. Rod Munch Says:

If any fan out there was to build a jamming device that didn’t allow Leftwich to get his calls into Brady during the game, they’d be doing the Bucs a huge favor.

  77. Bucanero Says:

about to stop watching the game for the whole game ’til the win. I didn’t see that comin’

  78. firethecannons Says:

It was a very frustrating game to watch and then the last few minutes wow! well done defense and offense Saints are hard to beat all the time these last few years we needed this win!

  79. Bucschamp Says:

Tom just sent emotional damage gift cards to Saints. Savage

  80. LastDance Says:

    AMEN! Redeemer!

Thomas Edward Patrick Brady. That TD catch was eerily reminiscent of those squat, jerk routes the Patriot always ran. Stick him in the gun and let him call his game.

Leftwich could learn a few things from… uh I don’t know… maybe the 17 years of Brady in New England. They kinda had it figured out. Or just let TB12 call it like he sees it.

  81. GenocideD Says:

Joes we need an article on Ingram running out of bounds a yard short right veggie their last punt.

  82. NEfan Says:

Don’t count out the 49ers hame out yet, could be Toms interview. How the he’ll did the Saints receivers get so wide open? Otton is the real deal, got to use him more. Haha, two rookies scored the TD’s.

  83. Nicky666 Says:

Man brady is so clutch! Ugly win that we had to have – given the next 2 games we play are going to be brutal! But cheers to tonight that was wild! – GO BUCS!!!

  84. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I stopped watching at halftime. It occurred to me that I could miss a comeback…but I also realized that they only needed to comeback because they were playing badly.

    So I no longer care.

Bowles and Leftwhich need to go.

Glazers need to beg Tom Brady to coach next year.

  85. Randall Says:

  86. Buczilla Says:

A win is win even though I am not happy with the coaching, winning is all that matters. Hopefully we can build on this and maybe get a nice streak going. Brady is freaking amazing.

  87. BelleGladeBuc Says:

I’d be shocked if TB12 goes to San Francisco next year.

All of his children are on the East Coast which creates a coparenting logistical nightmare.

Also, the 49er’s OLINE has gotten 2 QB’s destroyed and out with season ending injuries.

  88. kyle Says:

Bowles>Belllichek….Bowles for the hall of fame after that performance.. haha what a disgrace, thank you tom!!!

  89. MadMax Says:

Heck of a comeback….i had a tekillya at the bar afterwards and walked home and was out…glad i kept watching 😁😁

  90. D-Rok Says:

    Amazing comeback win.

I VERY rarely turn off the game, but I did last night as I had to get up early for work. For some strange reason, Mrs. D-Rok had a hunch and switched off the Voice and saw game was 16-10 with a few minutes left, so she came and woke me up, so thankfully I got to see the last drive.

Thanks, Mrs. D-Rok, and thanks Bucs for this win.
