Tom Brady QB Coach Says Brady Is “Improving” And Won’t Taper His Practice Routine

November 16th, 2022

Bucs QB Coach Clyde Christensen talks Tom Brady.

Good luck finding a sign that Tom Brady doesn’t want to play quarterback next season.

In fact, Brady is getting better as a player and refusing to put himself on a pitch count in practice, if you believe Bucs quarterback coach Clyde Christensen.

Christensen spoke Tuesday on the Buccaneers Radio Network and was adamant that Brady will not limit his practice throws because of his age and his arm is overthrowing Father Time by a good 10 yards.

“He’s playing as good as he ever has. I think he’s improving. I think he’s improving,” Christensen said. “Not to sound like a coaching cliché here again, but you practice, you work hard at what you do, you tend to improve. I think that goes for 45-year-olds, as well. … He’s throwing the ball at a high, high level.”

Christensen said Brady’s film as a New England Patriot never showed that his arm had lost any juice.

What about now, Clyde? “This is not the year. This is not the year,” Christensen replied.

Brady has turned down the Bucs’ request to dial back all the deep shots he demands working on late in practices — and late in the week.

Christensen lamented he can’t stop Brady from “launching 65 yarders on Friday afternoon” because Brady insists. “He thrives on it,” Christensen said. “We constantly work on those.”

Brady also has the hungry attitude of a young star, the QB coach added, noting Brady loves everything about the game, including road trips, bus rides, and all the little things, and especially practice.

“He’s always looking to improve. He’s never ever looking to get by and slide by on the easy side,” Christensen said.

That sure doesn’t sound like a guy eager to jump into a broadcast studio in a matter of months.

With all this crap going on, FTX and Divorce, it looks like he will want his sanctuary space- Football.

I think he continues to play.

I would not lay any crypto on it though 🙄

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  2. MadMax Says:

Guys need to catch the dmn ball!!! You know who you are. Now granted, he’s had some over and under throws, thats to be expected now and then….but come on guys, catch that DMN BALL….ITS RIGHT ON YOU!

  3. Thunder Says:

How is this possible? Some QB experts who comment on this site , like tbbucs , have told us all that Brady is “washed.” Gee, who should I believe, a NFL QB coach with years of experience actually working with NFL QBs or someone like tbbucs who lives in his mom’s basement?

  4. Buccos Says:

I will bet you a million crypto dollars that he plays for the Bucs next year

  5. Redeemer Says:

Doesn’t Clyde just look like a coach? I wonder if Brady still has sessions with Tom House, his longtime mechanics guy. Whenever he needed a tweak, House was there. Maybe Brady doesn’t need it anymore. I remember a famous story about Bill asking House, why he shouldn’t trade Brady. Mind you, this was 10 years ago. House told Belichick, as long as he does what he’s supposed to, there’s no reason he can’t play until 45. If only Bill had listened.

  6. Beeej Says:

We’re blessed to just WATCH this man play, much less having him be the leader of our team. Never gonna see the likes of him again

Perfect!!! Thank you Thunder that ones a gem! Im sure the haters probably have an associates degree in art so they definitely have the credentials to judge the GOAT.
    AHAHAHAHAHA

  8. Goatfarmer Says:

Best thing for the Bucs is TB dumping the Geezahag. Way to go Tom!

Jason – get the extension in front of him very soon.

  9. Carl L Says:

This bye week, let’s hope our gifted receivers will quit dropping balls. The ones that make the catch will stop the collapsing of the knees. White stays on the team as a player, like the Seattle game. If this happens, we in the super bowl.

  10. Mikejp Says:

I agree with the QB coach that Tom does not lose any juice. His fast ball is too hard to catch, you can see that Miller had to use his body to catch the damn ball. It can also explain why the Bucs receivers have too many drops. If they just catch loft balls, they do not drop the ball. The bad start of the Bucs is due to the injury of Goldwin, Gage, Jones and the weak O line.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Much as I’d love to see Brady come back as Bucs’ QB for 2023, just can’t see it happening. Most of our starting offense is still under contract come 2023 … just about all EXCEPT for Brady. We’re already so far OVER the projected 2023 salary CAP though that something has to give.

If you look at our 2023 free agents (27 of them), we’ve got at least 9 starters/key rotational players ON DEFENSE who we’ll have to re-sign or replace (most are expensive) … Dean, LVD, Hicks, RNR, Gholston, SMB, Edwards, Ryan, Nelson. Licht hopped on the slippery slope when he started ‘mortgaging the future’ approximately 3 years ago.

Turns out that slippery slope ends on a cliff (who knew?), and we’re about to go over. For Brady to return, it’d cost us another $25-$30 mil that we don’t have. Plus we’d have to keep our offense in tact, and our defense would fall off the cliff. IF instead we focus on keeping our defense in tact, we’d have to make substantial cuts in our offense, and 46-year-old Tom Brady would surely balk at that. Yup, caught between a rock and a hard place.

  12. ClwJB Says:

If Brady wants to play another year, you figure out a way to make it happen

The Saints and others have proven the cap can be worked for a long time, 3 years is manageable as is 4 years of kicking the can

Win another SB and I’ll volunteer to sit thru the rebuild after and not complain LOL

  13. Bucsfan13 Says:

I know that his competitive spirit won’t let him dial it back, but Bowles needs to step in and not let Tom harm himself. He needs to rest. I know he’s been off on some of those deep shots in games and wants to practice more, but his arm needs rest. Even the great Nolan Ryan rested his arm in his later years. Brady is done after this year. I don’t think he wants to put himself through another offseason of training. I worry about our society when you have people who think Tom invested his entire fortune in crypto and is dead broke and needs to play for money. A story written by a guy in India who covers basketball said Tom invested 650 million in FTX has been making the rounds like it’s a fact. People will literally believe in anything written about Brady, especially if it’s negative news. Remember the conspiracy about him filming the Masked Singer during his LOA? Reputable journalists ran with the story.

  14. orlbucfan Says:

I’m one of those Bucs fans who remembers Clyde Christensen sucking so bad as an O coach, he helped get Tony Dungy fired. Guess some things/people improve with age. Speaking of age, DR has a valid point about TB, the $$cap, and Licht’s re-signing headaches. Bowles will focus on the D. LVD helped light a fire under this team with that Player’s Meeting. I know Bowles and Licht will be very well aware of it when they make the choices who to re-sign. Man, I hope LVD retires as a Buc.

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I agree that something will have to give in order for us to afford Brady…..I trust Licht to figure it out.
Maybe he can take lessons from our Treasury Secretary & others who have found ways to run deficits. (Can we print Buc money?]

  16. Thunder Says:

Haha Lastdance, you are welcome! It’s amazing how some people continue to underestimate the GOAT !

  17. Thunder Says:

Bucsfan13 you are dead right! People are so gullible. Brady had a standard celebrity endorsement deal with FTX. He received a minor ownership stake in exchange for doing commercials and being their ambassador. He didn’t in all likelihood put a dime of his own money into FTX. Zerohedge printed the list of investors and how much they invested and Brady and Gisele were listed as ZERO. He was given an ownership stake in return for being an ambassador. This is a standard deal, he lost none of his own money. Also, the class action lawsuit naming him and other celebrities is a total joke. Will go nowhere. Vast majority of people are clueless

  18. JimmyfromNY Says:

Cap is not and excise not tonsign players . No has proven that. Brady will stay if Licht/Owners shoe a continued commitment to winning which they 100% have done. The only issue is he has other options which he’ll absolutely listen to.

  19. Anonymous Says:

I see Brady staying as long as he wants to and i also see the Glazier family giving him a piece of the Bucs to make sure that happens.

  20. Anonymous Says:

@defenserules if something has to break I promise you it’ll be something other then Brady cause the Bucs will do everything to keep him.

  21. Crickett Baker Says:

DR. I like your posts but “intact” is a word and “in tact” means nothing.
