Mike Evans Explains To Von Miller How Tom Brady Made Him Great

November 23rd, 2022

“Tom, text Dana White I need ringside seats for UFC after we win the Super Bowl.”

Bucs stud wide receiver Mike Evans was always a baller. But Evans believes he raised his game on the shoulders of one guy.

That would be Tom Brady.

Evans recently did a virtual sitdown with Von Miller on the Buffalo Bills’ defensive end’s podcast, “VonCast,” seen exclusively on Bleacher Report.

Miller asked Evans what’s it like playing with Brady and Evans gave Brady mad props for helping propel him into the receiver he is today.

“He is so detailed,” Evans said of Brady. “He is the most detailed player I have ever played with. He makes sure we are ready and on point. Since I’ve been playing with him, my mental errors have been way lower.”

Off the field, Evans said he learned from Brady that taking care of your body is money well spent.

“That is the main thing I have learned the last three years playing for him,” Evans said. “He is with treatment every day. Always.”

Miller, who like Evans played for Texas A&M in college, told Evans that was a smart move he made for his body. Miller, 33, detailed what he does just to get his body right to play.

“I spend most of my day doing that,” Miller said, adding he does treatment on his body more than he practices and watches tape combined. “I spent most of my time [physically] getting ready to play the next game.”

Evans also gave Brady props for setting him up with backstage passes for a UFC event where Evans got to hang with one of Brady’s business partners, UFC shot-caller Dana White.

“He hooked it up like it was nothing,” Evans said.

Joe sure hopes Evans gets his 329 yards in the next seven games to keep this 1,000-yard a season streak going at nine.

I hope so too Joe, should be fairly easy to do. I don’t want to have to worry about that on the last game, like a few seasons before it.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Leopold … I’m more concerned about the Bucs going into that last game with an 8-8 record against an Atlanta team that could very well also be 8-8 at that point. Winner take all; loser go home.

  3. Kentucky Buc Says:

If either team is 8-8 they need to go home

  4. BucsFanSince 1996 Says:

    @Kentucky Buc
“If either team is 8-8 they need to go home.”

That comment made me curious as to which Super Bowl winning team had the worst regular season record. It was the 2011 NY Giants who were 9-7.

While I’d be disappointed if the BUCS are 8-8 going into the final game of the regular season, if they get into the playoffs and their key players are healthy I wouldn’t be surprised if they go deep into the playoffs.

I doubt the other teams would feel overconfident when facing a Brady-led offense if Evans, Godwin, Jones, and Gage are healthy.

If the BUCS team that showed up in Munich shows up in the playoffs then we have a chance.

Evans was always great…..but he is a better version of great now….

The best way for Mike to extend his streak is for him to get 125 yds vs Browns & the best way for the Bucs to take care of the Falcons is to beat the Browns.

  6. DungyDance Says:

Evans is a consummate professional and a role model teammate.
Reminds me of Marvin Harrison. Proud to have him as a Buc.

  7. Zoocomics Says:

    @BucsFanSince 1996

If Evans, Godwin, Jones and Gage stay healthy, I’d be shocked we can’t do better than 8-8 going into the last game of the season, furthermore, if we get Jensen back at any point and Hicks stay healthy, and we still end up 8-8 into that final game, we have no business in the playoffs. There are no more additions coming to this team that we have been waiting on that is going to have the offense start throwing up 30pts a game.

Both 2007 and 2011 Giants teams that limped into the playoffs to win Superbowl’s. Were dealing with injuries that seemed to heal at the perfect time for their Superbowl Run… their defenses were epic in getting after the QB.

  8. SB~LV Says:

    Let’s not forget Jameis

  9. BA’s Red Pen Says:

All Ira will have to say when he presents Mike for the HOF is ,” The man got 1000+ yards with Mike Glennon as his QB.” Then sit back down.

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

Maybe reading into this to much but Evans said “playing for him” instead of playing with him.

  11. DungyDance Says:

I don’t think you’re reading too much into that Dewey. Good catch.

  12. NEfan Says:

Evan’s doesn’t want to admit he plays for Bowles and BL that would be embarrassing. He knows neither contribute to his success.

  13. Jake Says:

I used to have a mike evan jersey but burned it after he kneeled during the national anthems.

  14. Leopold Stotch Says:

DR… Of course playoffs are the minimum and I’m sure Mike would trade the record if it meant another ring. I have a small glimmer of hope we may have our season turned around now and can put Mike’s record in a higher spot than making the playoffs… Ofc if we lose to the Browns, then that will change real quick.

  15. Winky Says:

    Love it.

    Happy thanksgiving y’all.

    GO BUCS!!

  16. SufferingSince76 Says:

Evans said ‘playing for him’ because of the respect he has for Tom and his commitment to the team and the game of football. Brady is the leader of the team. I’m not concerned about where Mike’s inspiration comes from.

  17. adam from ny Says:

if the bucs are 8-8 going into the final game i don’t care if they go to the playoffs…

it means they never really got their sh!t together, are ultra lucky the nfc south is emulating the recent “nfc least” division, and they will be a quick out come playoff time…

if they finish 9-8 to win the division and get in the playoffs, i’m sorry to have to say it, but they are scrubs who backed in…or snuck in thru a hole in the floor boarding…

10-7 can work…11-6 is even better…12-5 is what i predicted for the squad before the season’s start…

but 9-8 to the playoffs means a 4-3 finish down the stretch vs many a sh!t team…and they really should be home for the holidays patching up the hole in that old floorboard if such is the case

  18. ZFlynn Says:

Tom Brady has an excellent ability to always silence his critics in the second half of every season. This will be no different. And Mike will get over 400 yards, sealing his streak of 1,000+ yard seasons.
Looking forward to the Bucs becoming their fiercest and best in the playoffs and winning their next Super Bowl.

  19. D-Rok Says:

I love hearing these behind-the-scenes stories as they only add to the legacies of Evans, Brady, and I guess I’ll give props to Von also.

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Brady, and a lot of elite NFL athletes, spend up to a million dollars per year on their personal trainers, masseuses, chefs, etc. When you’re making multiple millions a year, that’s the cost of doing business, I guess, but wow, a million a year? The time and the money shows the investment these guys make in themselves. Incredible.

  20. KYBUCFAN Says:

    @Jake

    Dumb as*…! Lmao!

  21. ModHairKen Says:

If he cannot get 329 in seven games, Leftwich should be fired on the field and should be made to run off through the end zone with no shirt, AB style.

  22. Jimothy Says:

    @Jake

    Nobody cares.

  23. TampabayDJ82 Says:

@TBBF – Well said and agree 💯 with everything ! Lot of fake fans coming back out of the woodwork and it’s sad af .. Go Bucs

  24. Hope Says:

I think my Niners beat the Bucs as we are healthy and have more offensive weapons then the Bucs&as good a DF or better. I think it will be close but we win at home! Go Niners!!!

  25. Ed McSherry Says:

Mike Evens getting 1,000 yards this year?

    No problem.

The Brady-era Buccaneers haven’t had their “blowout games” yet this year; they’ve been coming right after the bye week.

And they look on-schedule for it after last week with, finally, both the offense and defense healthy, and the o-line with some well-earned experience (who gave Brady enough time in the pocket last week- it wasn’t luck).

  26. CUZ Says:

How much did Evans help in the last two game? Contributions starting to come from others, like Brady said the cream rises to the top. Thanksgiving time, Gio back, Jensen, Gage,Gronk? Enjoy the ride season really starts now.

  27. A Says:

I hope all of the Bucs are watching how to take care of their bodies.

    Go Bucs!

  28. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Jake Mr so called Patriot, have you ever served in the military which not only defended the right to bear arms but also the freedom of speech??? If not then you have no right to judge him on that. How much you want to bet he’d be quicker to pick up a gun to defend his country than you if we were invaded??? The Anthem is nothing but a song but I’m pretty sure he loves being an American
