“This Team Stinks”

October 29th, 2022

Calls out Bucs.

If you think the Bucs look awful, don’t worry, that perception is beginning to catch on from sea to shining sea after the Bucs did their best to chase Amazon customers to Walmart.com Thursday night.

Popular national sports radio and television personality Adam Schein became ill watching the once proud Bucs impersonate a Super Bowl contender Thursday night. For those thinking the Bucs may still have a shot at the playoffs, Schein tried to set the record straight during the Friday episode of his show “Time to Schein,” seen on weekday evenings on CBS Sports Network.

“It was another horrible, terrible, no-good, bad day for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This team stinks.

“Don’t let the final score fool you. This game wasn’t even close. The second half was a complete and utter disaster. Tom Brady is terrible. The run game? Non-existent.

“They can’t run. They can’t complete the forward pass. The defense is flat out deplorable.”

Currently, Schein said the Dixie Chicks are the team to beat in the NFC South.

Yes, it’s sunk to that level.

Joe thinks Schein was a little rough on Brady. The Hall of Fame quarterback may not be playing like he did when he had an offensive guy running the show in Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians. But Brady wasn’t awful.

If you think Brady is the source of the Bucs’ problems, imagine where this team would be with Kyle Trask behind center.

Joe has only one question: Why is failing offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich still employed?

Based on his decent preseason performances with garbage offensive players, I’d imagine he’d be playing quite well with the starters, and developing. You can’t imagine that because you’ve been hating on him since he was drafted and can’t afford to be proven wrong.

    Bad all around.

We got dump trucked by Pittsburgh, Carolina, and Baltimore.

Ran all over us. Threw all over us.

Fire everyone. Bowles is as motivating as a morning dump. Leftwich is as creative as the product from said dump.

Schein, pretty harsh words for a guy that worn a helmet once in his life, the one his mommy made him walk around the house with so he wouldn’t fall and damage his retainer. All those haters that say Brady doesn’t get blamed for this teams horrid play can S@#K IT!!! The score was 10-3 at the half. Baltimore made adjustments Bowels did not. Bucs dragged Brady back kicking and screaming. Licht could of fought for Wilson, Dak, Roger’s, Carr, Hebert, Mac Jones, Ryan, Watson, TRASK or any OTHER QB in the league and NONE are going to win. Evan’s is the only downfield threat, Godwin is clearly not back yet, then what??? Licht has made NO attempt to help the Oline or replace Gronk. The D is made up of quitters, the ST’s constantly put the team in a hole and the entire team lacks discipline.

BA stuck this team with a joke of a coaching staff. DR keeps defending Bowels as a D genius yet other than the 2020 SB what has he done past & present???

Do we really think Giants QB Jones & Jalon Hurts would be as good with their coaching staff? Sorry even Allen & Mahomes can’t win under BL & Bowels. If Licht & Glaziers can’t see coaching is the problem then they will be the reason this ship sinks. Funny thing, BA is very quiet these days for a man that could never keep his mouth shut. Things that make you go hmmm. ALL those that pin this on Brady are like oneilsuckyall, the fans who still this OJ was innocent.

The loss of some key players and their leadership, plus BA steeping aside, has changed the personality of this team. The head coach and OC have turned this team into a one trick pony. If not now, at the end of the season, they both need to move on.

  23. BucsFanSince76 Says:

Bucs do stink as they are-SO WHY DOESN’T JASON LICHT DO HIS FREAKING JOB and RESIGN SUH NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Listnfrmafar Says:

@Marine, I was just trying to be optimistic and Bowles had me up to the 1/2, then reality set in. Yes easy $$$

  25. FortMyersDave Says:

No way to be optimistic, the talent is lacking thanks to Licht making a few key poor decisions, the coaching is very below average (think Rural Meyer, Lovie Smith, Mike Smith bad), many of the players appear to be loafing and the conditioning and injuries that plagues this team is back again (who is the strength and conditioning coach? Can we fire him with Armstrong, Bowel and Leftwich when the Bucs finish 4-13?). I doubt the Glazers will give a knee jerk reaction and can Leftwich though they should, they did that with Mike Smith but somehow I think Arians handpicking these jokers has given them a bit of protection for an early pink slip. Who are they Glazers listening to anyhow: Licht, Arians, or actually buying the BS from Toilet Bowels as he monotonely tries to cover for himself? The team is dysfunctunal from the top down like it was every year the Glazers made a coaching move AFTER the season was over except for Smitty. So Glazers: why wait this time, maybe pull the cord sooner? Is it tank time? The only reason to keep Byron as OC is if you want a top 3 pick in 2023 with Lovie and perhaps the Aints or Panthers.

  26. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Listnfrmafar

LOL… All good man. Just busting your chops a little.

  27. Bojim Says:

Leftwich should go. But Bowles is letting him get away with it. He’s also responsible for the defense. Tom Brady’s mind is probably going 90 mph all the time. He hasn’t lost it.

  30. Beeej Says:

They said Brady had lost it in 2019, they said Brady had lost it when we were 7-5 in 2020. The guy is 10 months removed from leading the NFL in passing. He’s not the BEST anymore, but he’s certainly in the top 10–threw for 325 yards, 29 of 44, has 1 pick all season. (admittedly, he was VERY lucky on those 2 tipped balls)

  31. Francisco Guzman Says:

This is all on Bowles and this staff. Are you kidding me? They don’t how players accountable period. Bowles has never proven to be a head coach and let’s be honest this offense last year BA was the brains behind it.

Arians figures “here ya go Tom” if he was indeed nudged out. Arians avoids the explosive diarrhea that this season has become. All allegedly of course.

  34. Darin Says:

Why Bowles? Why glazers? Send him packing now times a wasting

  35. Defense Rules Says:

BucBoy … I agree with you; this team would be playing better IMO with Kyle Trask under Center, but only if BL was not the OC. If he can’t make his offensive attack work WITH Tom Brady, imagine how bad it’d become WITHOUT Brady. He’s probably half of the problem; a lower talent level & injuries is the other half IMO.

Our most visible problem on offense (and on defense now) is that everyone’s playing as individuals, not as a TEAM. On almost every play when you watch the OLine block it’s chaotic. You’ll far too often see at least 2 OLinemen get manhandled, and the blocking scheme collapses. It’s obvious, by the way they’re running, that the RBs don’t trust the run blocking (you can see them hesitate constantly). Brady also doesn’t seem to trust the blocking any more (the depth of his drops & his movements in the pocket seem to have changed). Not sure that he trusts his receivers either at this point.

Taken together, you end up with inability to sustain drives, as well as the inability to punch it in in the Red Zone when we do get there. In 2020 Bucs had a total of 180 drives in 16 regular season games; we punted on 55 of those (30.5%); we scored TDs on 58 of those (32.2%) and FGs on 28 of those (15.6%). In 2021 Bucs had a total of 194 drives in 17 regular season games; we punted on 62 of those (32.0%); we scored TDs on 61 of those (31.4%) and FGs on 25 of those (12.9%).

Averaging out those 2 years, Bucs scored TDs 31.8% of our drives (roughly one-third), scored FGs 14.2% of the time, and punted on 31.3% of our drives (roughly one-third).

Fast forward to our first 8 games of 2022. Bucs have had 88 total drives thus far. We’ve only scored 12 TDs (13.6%) on those 88 drives, plus 19 FGs (21.6%), and punted 38 times (43.2%). So our TD scoring is WAAAY DOWN, our FG scoring is WAAAY UP, and our punting is WAAAY UP. Nothing all of us haven’t seen with our own eyes, and it’s reflected in our record. Interestingly our TOP is WAAAY DOWN also (we averaged 30:11 last season, and thus far this season we’re averaging 27:45 minutes per game. That’s a huge drop, and it’s reflective of us not being able to sustain drives.

  36. SKBucsFan Says:

As much as I want to see coaching changes…and it should happen. This team has lost its way simply because TB12 can’t get focused. It’s really sad to see on a few levels. But now that his divorce is public knowledge it’s up to the leaders on this team to pick up Tom Brady and quit relying on him to near the weight.

  37. Francisco Guzman Says:

One thing also hurting this offense. Lack of tight end production along with the 3rd option at wideout. They’re not getting much at the 3rd wideout spot. Again BL is a problem . You have good offensive coordinators that know how to scheme.

  38. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sorry I was all for BA leaving and I could be wrong. I do believe the attitude of the team would be better but this group is NOT a SB team. Licht did make a good acquisition by bringing in Ryan but Hicks or Suh is a major oversight. JPP did nothing Thursday so the verdict on him is still out but O wise, you can’t replace two future HOFers, one for sure Gronk and sorry BA chased AB from this team as dysfunctional as he was. AB helps Bucs beat the Rams and possibly SB 3. Water under the bridge. When White talked back to Bowles he immediately should of benched him, he’s a coward that he didn’t. This is uncharted territory for Brady, whether you believe Belichick is a good coach or not, his teams were always prepared and discipline and most of all they play 60 minutes win or lose.

  39. BucBoy Says:

“Defense Rules Says: BucBoy … I agree with you; this team would be playing better IMO with Kyle Trask under Center.”

Glad to hear that, DR. I’ve been seeing lots of others on this website come around to the realization that whether Brady stays or is traded, Trask should be getting playing time with the starters so we can know what he has – because the future of the Bucs is more important than this wasted season.

Unfortunately, others – Joe, Joe, Ira, Rod Munch, Goathumper, etc. – have been hating on Trask since he was drafted and can’t afford for Trask to play and look good. It would destroy their credibility. So they don’t want Trask to ever play, or if he does play they want him to look bad. And they’re Bucs fans? SMH.

  40. Thisisouryear!! Says:

I think Brady turns this team around. He’s the greatest of all time for a reason. If he does this, his final chapter will be his greatest accomplishment.

Losing Shaq worries me. If Hicks comes back and can stay healthy, that would would be huge. I think we need a couple more players. IMO white is terrible. Other than the super bowl run a couple years ago, he’s never been good. I think he needs to be benched.

  41. Winny Testaverde Says:

This is a sour year….I like your “can-do” attitude and would love a turnaround myself. I can’t picture it happening and I feel bad for Brady…but very few others in the franchise. Hicks is not coming back for more than a game before he’s re-injured. That’s if he doesn’t “suffer a setback” prior to that. Top heavy fellas with foot problems are usually done. Suh laughs last here…he wanted to come back. His asking price seems irrelevant now given the loot spent on injured busts.

  42. Listnfrmafar Says:

DR, you state the obvious in your stats. BL’s play calling is atrocious. He gets us every time, Dallas looked like he turned the page, 1st series of the Balt game the same then he just reverts back to the predictable, basic as that haven’t worked for weeks. The reverse to Jones on 2nd & 1 almost caused a remote toss. That is when you take your shot NOT hand the ball to the walking wounded. The flare screen, once or twice a game not every series and 3 runs in a row. I am getting angry writing this. Brady does look the same with the exception of throwing a bit quicker due to more pressure. He has ALWAYS been slow, he would probably beat Arians by a 1/2 second in the 40. Some say he’s scared where in his mind he probably rather take the hit than turn it over knowing 31 points if off the table. What I would like to know is what was said at half-time that a D playing lights out turtles from 1st series 3rd period on? This team has never relied on D to win games, this season is different and they cannot answer the call.

  43. Listnfrmafar Says:

DR, I don’t consider you an idiot like the others calling for Trask but other than KC, the Bucs have been in every game until the end. Tell me what game do you win if Trask plays? Bucs would be 1-7 or 0-8. Seriously, do you really think it’s Brady losing these games? Brady didn’t give up 24 points in the second 1/2. Can ANYONE except beano, oralbuc and oneilsuckyall tell me they cannot tell EVERY time Lenny is getting the ball???

  46. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

I would like to know how long the clueless Glazers are going to put up with this crap? Grow a set Glazers & do some firing. It seems like Licht & BA are the owners. Show them who’s the boss. If not interested then sell the team to someone who is.

  47. Cobraboy Says:

    He’s right, you know.

    This is a bad team.

I’m ready for a full blow-up, trading serviceable vets for picks—including Brady if anyone wants him—and paying the piper to clean the cap.

Thank you Tom Brady for two glorious seasons and a Lombardi.

  48. BucBoy Says:

Listnfrmafar doesn’t get it. It’s not about whether Trask wins more games than Brady this season. It’s about the fact that this season is now lost; Brady and Gabbert will be long gone next year; Trask looked good in the first and third preseason games playing behind garbage men; and we need to see how he looks behind our starting offense. It’s plainly obvious that those who don’t see this have simply hated on Trask since draft day 2020 and can’t afford to have him play and look good. It would show you to be the idiot you are.

  53. Defense Rules Says:

Listnfrmafar … ‘DR, you state the obvious in your stats.’

Apparently not. The ‘obvious’ wasn’t that BL’s play-calling sucks (it does, but wait, there’s more). Those same stats also show that the players on the field aren’t getting it down. BL hasn’t overthrown & underthrown his receivers on a number of critical downs; Tom Brady has. BL hasn’t dropped several easy catches, like Mike Evans did that sure TD against the Steelers. BL isn’t out there blocking & getting manhandled far too often. THAT’S on the players, and THAT gets reflected in those same stats.

Listnfrmafar… ‘DR, I don’t consider you an idiot like the others calling for Trask but other than KC, the Bucs have been in every game until the end. Tell me what game do you win if Trask plays?’

I appreciate the vote of confidence that I’m not an idiot. Could you please explain that to my wife now? You missed my point on Trask, but thankfully BucBoy didn’t. The odds of us winning the Super Bowl this season are now astronomical after our loss to the Ravens. We’ve lost Shaq & we have so many on the injury list we could open our own hospital … and fill it. It’s also obvious from watching Brady throw that something’s wrong. Whether it’s his shoulder or finger or something else, I don’t know; but something’s wrong.

My statement on Trask was that the Bucs ‘would be playing better IMO with Kyle Trask under Center, but only if BL was not the OC.’ For one thing, Brady not coming back next year; he’s not stupid. There’s no future for him here. Gabbert clearly isn’t our future, although he may be a respectable backup QB. Switching to Trask but keeping BL would be a disaster. But switch OCs to someone who can develop a young QB & the rest of this TEAM could very well rally around him. Besides, I personally think Trask has got a lot more talent than most JBFers giver him credit for. IF he’s the answer to our QB woes going forward, I want to know this year so we can draft an even bigger NEED in 2023 (like an edge rusher?). Only 1 way to find out.

  54. Carl L Says:

As long as the stupid public keeps betting heavy on the Bucs to cover, the gambling nfl is making $$$$$$$$ every week. There has to be a reason why players like White are wondering all over the field, amazingly avoiding contact, receivers knees buckle when they catch a pass, or drop passes when critical, line pass blocks on running plays, and the coaches are tolerating it. Defense in a “ soft prevent” most of the time, keeping our offense off the field for long periods of time. That alone hinders offenses. It’s a no brainer. Quit betting on the Bucs!

  55. Carl L Says:

Tom Brady has thrown the same passes many thousands of time. He has to make himself miss a receiver in the end zone at point blank range. That’s why he throws is face in his hands every time he has to do it for the nfl. Please quit betting on the Bucs to cover every week so we can get back on the winning track.

  57. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I am seeing many reason why we are playing so badly, but the one that stands out to me the most is, our players are not in very good shape.
For the first quarter, we were having our way with the Ravens physically, but as the game progressed, our lack of good physical conditioning showed, and as the result, the Ravens had their way with us.

  58. adam from ny Says:

  59. Cobraboy Says:

Casual fans are focused on symptoms, not the root cause.

  60. BucBoy Says:

Defense Rules makes too much sense for the Trask haters (Joe, Joe, Ira, Munch, Goathumper, Listnfrmafar, Testaverde, etc). Having bashed Trask since draft day in 2020, they cannot afford to have Trask come off the bench and play with the starters and look good. They know it could happen and do not want to risk it. It happens often actually. It happened with Brady himself. It happened with Favre. It happened just this season with several NFL backups looking better than the starter, inlcuding at New England.

  67. Francisco Guzman Says:

A good coaching staff would have this team over 500. This is an indictment on Todd Bowles. Season’s over if they keep this guy or leftwich. Disgraceful.

  68. Listnfrmafar Says:

DR & BucBoy, I am not a Trask hater, so what you’re saying is quit on the season because Shaq is gone and make Brady the sacrificial lamb to see if Trask is any good? The theory is nice but what if he fails miserably and he will because your hope of the next coming is NOT going to fix BL’s stupid play calls, Evan’s drops, worst rushing stats ever, bad O & D line play, Whites control and most of all the teams bad attitude. I’ll also bet he has a few strip sacks, throws a few in the dirt or too high and possibly more than 1 pick. Oh as I recall he ain’t much of a speed demon either. Bucs are 3-5 in parody with many in the league at this point winning is not out of the question. Play Trask and you confirm no playoffs. What would change this team is an interim OC that know their shat. You fans have been in the toilet for so long the least path of resistance is to jump back in. I hope you don’t go through life that way. If Bucs go 3-8 then send Brady home to his empty house but until then address the real problem, coaching. Blame injuries all you want, EVERY team has them.

    @List

I agree with you. This is Brady’s last year and it is the responsibility of Licht to and the Glazers to give him every chance to go out a champion. They owe TB12 that.

The Bucs need to do everything in their power to get Tretter at a center and Suh for the line.

The Bucs need to trade a draft pick and get Chubb from the Browns who they are shopping. Trade another draft pick to Carolina and get Brown who they are shopping. Those guys are monsters on defense, young and will immediately upgrade the Bucs defense.

mobility, play calling and his decision making under pressure at times is hurting him. One example was the pass to Godwin that was knocked out of his hands. These tight windows passes short of the sticks are a gamble at best, and sets up a defender to cream the receiver. Perriman appeared to be wide open five yards down field for a
sure first down. This could be a productive play call with two targets flooding the zone. Any combination of receiver and TE not named Rudolph could work. We are not getting enough passes past the first down marker.

Imagine if Leftwich were gone and this was happening…we would be clamoring for Left twich. Just like if Trask were under center — we’d be clamoring for Brady. But this is clearly a Leftwich problem. The OCD run up the gut on first down in multiple losing efforts and hare brained scheme calls are CLEARLY not Brady audibles, much less original play calls by him. I think a change at OC is needed to spark the team, or we should pack it in and hope for a Josh Allen-type lucky QB draft pick so we can rebuild.
