Seven Bucs Don’t Practice

October 12th, 2022

Out.

A couple of unexpected names landed on the first official Bucs injury list of the week.

First, Jaelon Darden was out with a bad tooth and didn’t practice today. Perhaps he got an early start on Halloween Gobstoppers? The second surprise was edge rusher Carl Nassib with an illness that kept him out. Hopefully it’s not The Sickness.

Also out, as expected, were Logan Ryan (foot), Sean Murphy-Bunting (quad), Julion Jones (knee), Akiem Hicks (foot) and Russell Gage (ankle).

Good news was receiver Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) back at full participation, as was Cameron Brate (concussion), though he may not officially cleared for contact.

fantasy football just informed me Godwin was downgraded to questionable. any word there?

  2. Panhandle Buc Says:

Put Jones and Nicks on IR already!!!! Sounds crazy to say this, but I am glad to hear Perriman is back full practice.

  3. Panhandle Buc Says:

    *More like relieved vs glad.

  4. Bucsfan13 Says:

Brady wasn’t on the injury report? Are we to believe his shoulder and hand miraculously healed in a week? Bowles must be playing games with the injury report. He doesn’t want it out there that his shoulder and hand are still bad. Defenders were targeting his shoulder.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I also like Perriman returning…

We are good with the following……Evans, Godwin & a healthy Gage or Perriman

We don’t need an injured Julio….and I agree, how about putting these guys on IR.
I think it was malpractice to not put Hicks there. Makes no sense.

  6. Leopold Stotch Says:

Agreed. Why don’t we bring up Khalil Davis after putting Hicks on IR? I was extremely disappointed we cut him last year and ecstatic that we brought him back… We still have him right??? Coach Locust said he had a lot of promise. Let’s let the kid have a shot.

  7. ClwJB Says:

Maybe Jones, but if you put Hicks on IR now it’s 4 more weeks minimum

We have the Ravens and Rams coming up- expect all of them back for those games and then back on PT duty until the playoffs…

  8. Beeej Says:

I thought Hicks was just done with his initial 4 week stint, haven’t heard any updates

  9. unbelievable Says:

I’m sure Darden will be fine.

Hopefully Gage actually gets healthy at some point this season. He’s been putting in work and getting some tough yards, but it’s clear as day he’s not even close to 100%.

  10. BucU Says:

    Same shyt. Different week.

  11. Crickett Baker Says:

Idk how you can be on the injured list with a tooth injury. Does anyone remember Vita’s smile when his tooth got completely knocked out? I’m sorry to say I think he should be waived. Dardone seems like a namby-pamby to me.

  12. OBVIOUS Says:

I probably missed it but what about Carlton Davis? Wasn’t he a casualty last week?

  13. #8 Says:

    Suh.

  14. Goatfarmer Says:

Aw the poor wittle feller has a toofache. Probably got it from all those receptions he’s been getting tackles making as the best WR not named Evans or Godwin.

  15. Goatfarmer Says:

    Tackled

  16. A Bucs Fan Says:

Darden having a toothache is honestly laughable since he spent this offseason dropping $$$$ on an all diamond grill.

  17. Ed Says:

We don’t need more damn linebackers, we need defensive tackles that can shed blocks and wrap up some running backs without needing 4 players piling on as the running back carries them and falls down 4-5 yards after all of the missed tackles.

It drives me crazy watching other teams who have defensive linemen that make tackles on running plays. Our safeties and linebackers are always bringing down the DB’s.

I don’t know if its just me seeing that but the Bucs defensive line needs to play with more anger and less finesse.

  18. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    Sign Suh

  19. Goatfarmer Says:

Darden – the 3rd best WR on the team! Our resident insider has sources to prove it! He’ll send you the snapogarms to prove it! Why oh why on earth can no one but one guy see this brilliant talent is being underutilized. Obviously Brady doesn’t appreciate Mr. Toothache nearly enough. If only someone from North Texas State we’re on the coaching staff.

  20. Ed Says:

    typo: “bringing down the RB’s”

  21. Listnfrmafar Says:

Darden most likely broke a tooth from squinting and grinding his teeth bolting to the sideline avoiding contact. Love for him to sit so we can see what the Bucs have in the wings for a return guy.

  22. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Bucs need more hot-tubs. And a team dentist.

  23. Mike Johnson Says:

JPP looked pretty good playin for them Ravens the other night.
One things for SUH. Time to give Mr. SUH a call.

  24. Buc4evr Says:

    Suh

  25. SB Says:

” Hopefully it’s not The Sickness.”

Is that even a ‘thing’ anymore? The elections are over. So is It.

  26. Defense Rules Says:

In looking at the names of players who sat out injured, I’m seeing Nassib, Ryan, Julio, Hicks, Gage & SMB. All except the latter were signed this off-season to replace guys we let go because they were ‘over-the-hill’ (Suh, JPP, Cockrell), wanted too much money (Whitehead) or just went bye-bye (Antonio).

In the words of Dr Phil … And how’d that work out for you?

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    SB

When are you going to get rid of Tester…..

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Wow….is there some serious Darden hate……the kid is improving….and usually suits up. Lets give him a bit more time…..he didn’t draft himself….

  29. SB Says:

    Howdy TBBF! What is Tester?

  30. SB Says:

Hunting season is almost here. You want some Elk?
    You pay shipping tho. 😎

  31. Goatfarmer Says:

There’s no Darden hate. He is a likeable guy with the right attitude and tries real hard. Looks outstanding in shorts. When it comes to producing on the field however, he’s been a no-show.

Unless you consider one reception over five games production.

  32. Bucs since 76 Says:

Darden average punt return in the NFL this year at 11.1 is the eleventh best in the league. Who do we replace him with?

  33. DoooshLaRue Says:

    We can fix this.
Our GM has the ultimate set of tools.
A telephone and a blank checkbook.
All he needs to do is overpay for a few more broken down, big name washouts and we will look great again.

    ……on paper.

  34. Anonymous Says:

You think ours is bad look at theres.

  35. steele Says:

It’s mid October. Where is Jensen, what is his status? We have had no news whatsoever since “too much swelling to diagnose”. What is going on>?

  36. admin Says:

It’s mid October. Where is Jensen, what is his status?

Nothing has changed. *Maybe* he might be good to go in January. Maybe, at best.

  37. SOEbuc Says:

    Goatfarmer

I believe I read on JBF recently that Darden was #8 punt return soo…

The bandwagon on Licht is showing its ugly face Joe. He didn’t get Brady and others, didn’t win a Super Bowl two years ago in Tampa, division playoffs last year, leading division now, and drafts at least one developmental dynamite rookie if not more every year.

  38. Goatfarmer Says:

The debate with the Darden fan club (boy) is about him as a receiver. I will concede that he is the 8th or 11th best at running out of bounds after (mostly) catching a punt. Except when he watches it bounce and roll another 15 or 20 yards first.

  39. captivajim Says:

So , gage–I guess he’s progressing ; from hamstring to now ankle issues..

  40. Maniac Buc Says:

Goatfarmer is as ignorant as they come. A grown man, I’m assuming, calling people out of their name. 15 minutes in my hood, he would make an episode of first 48 as a victim. Well maybe not, because we know he would never do what he does on JBF in person. I offered him a chance to share info on twitter, so he could see who I am. However, we know he won’t, not because he doesn’t want info, but because he can only do what he does here while hiding his identity.

  41. Beeej Says:

I thought WE were having problems….Rams on 4thv center since opening day. (And none of them are named Tretter)

  42. Sumosam Says:

It took a year but Darden is doing a very good job now. He’s very secure with the ball and has the quicks to break one.
He will. I like him now.

  43. AbucAway Says:

So our sideline queen has a grill.. and a toothache. Lol that’s just funny right there

  44. teacherman777 Says:

    Sanat has looked good.

He reminds me of a bigger Brian Price.

Price was going to be great before that freak hamstring injury.

    For me?

Once a Buc, always a Buc.

I think I’m the most empathetic Bucs fan of all time.

For example, anybody else remember Cecil Fields?

And how Tre Boston cheap shotted his knee?

God bless all our former players.

    RIP Vincent Jackson.
