Report: Cole Beasley Retires

October 5th, 2022

Hangs it up.

That didn’t last long.

After two games with the Bucs, veteran receiver Cole Beasley has decided to retire, claims Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Beasley ends his storied career with the Bucs having caught four balls for 17 yards.

Apparently, Beasley wants to spend more time with his family.

Where have we heard that before?

  1. Anon Says:

Scotty Miller is breathing a sigh of relief as we speak but wait you hear that music in the distance…

    OMG IT’S OBJ!!

  2. LOL Says:

    LOL

  3. Derek Says:

    Didn’t expect that one

  4. Pewter Warrior 813 Says:

Scotty Miller paid him to retire

  5. pewter941 Says:

    Wow

  6. tampabayallday Says:

    OBJ

  7. TheRealDrew Says:

Try and claim Andy Isabella. I don’t know if he had any other issue besides having a terrible quarterback, who doesn’t do anticipation throws.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Cole’s been talking to Gronk & Ali. Wonder if Tom’s next.

  9. Bucsfan951 Says:

I didn’t have that one on my bingo card lol

  10. Mort Says:

    True Bucs legend of course.

  11. Winny Testaverde Says:

A couple of catches…short of the first down marker…while falling down. Wishing continued success to Cole as we say in the biz world.

  12. Buccos Says:

I wonder if I can return my Beasley jersey?!?

  13. Marc Coppola Says:

SIGN OBJ AND BE DONE WITH IT!

(also knew we should have signed Von Miller, JTS is all hype)

  14. Winny Testaverde Says:

Give # 15 back to Grayson ( I know…he can’t return until Week 8 or so per league rules…and may be a “Commander” by now ).

  15. Richard Dickson Says:

Maybe they asked him to vaccinate.

  16. DoooshLaRue Says:

Oh man, he must have banged Giselle too.

  17. Bucsfan13 Says:

    @Defense Rules Tom,who?

  18. Guadalajara Mexico Fan Says:

Definitely Bucs have to search for a WR not too old but with experience.
Julio Jones one of the best but injuries will keep him sidelined.
Time to negotiate draft picks for a good WR.

  19. SOEbuc be Says:

Geez. What the hell was the point? That guy just needed two more weekly paychecks to get back on top before retirement? Does he still get a signing bonus or how does the contract work out? A guy could get a huge signing bonus to retire when the check clears? Shouldn’t get any money from playing with the Bucs.

  20. Pewter Warrior 813 Says:

    Bring back Grayson.

  21. PassingThru Says:

Has he agreed to enter the HOF as a Buc?

  22. Gofortheface30 Says:

I am exhausted by this yrs team. This is the most unlikeable good team I’ve ever seen. We are competitive and yet, a huge dumpster fire at the same time

  23. Beeej Says:

He most likely can’t to the conclusion he couldn’t do it anymore

  24. AbucAway Says:

Very graceful of the Bucs to let him go on his own terms, rather than a public shove out the door. Who’s next.

  25. Kentucky Buc Says:

    WTF

  26. Bucswin Says:

    Quitter

  27. Goatfarmer Says:

Adam Humphries? Grayson? A 6th for Tyler Johnson?

  28. zzbucs Says:

Jesus H Christ, this is a low punch…..

    Nobody expected this one…..

  29. firethecannons Says:

good for nothing, probably made some change
take julio and both of ya gtfo

  30. David Says:

That was pointless would have rather used one of the practice squad guys.

Everyone keeps saying OBJ. Can he even play? Is his recovery over?

  31. SKBucsFan Says:

OBJ should be back in November. However he will demand too much money. But I would never totally dismiss it.

  32. GenocideD Says:

Wanted to catch a few passes from the goat before retiring.

  33. DBS Says:

OBJ is just another injury waiting to happen player . The Bucs have enough of those already.

  34. Tampabaybucfan Says:

One more activation from the practice squad for Beasley and we would have to give up a roster spot.

The likelihood of him getting snaps with a healthier WR corps is slim.

Evans, Godwin Jones, Gage, Perriman, Darden, Miller, ……Beasley…..nope.

Nothing ventured nothing gained, nothing lost…..

  35. LA Bucs Fan Says:

The interesting thing is that Cole Beasley is not only a Justin Turner look-alike, but also hired him as his agent… WILD!

  36. Duane Says:

Just a guy. Congrats on the 11 yr career.

  37. Redeemer Says:

    What?

  38. 97 bucBaby Says:

Sooooo you in this man’s dm asking to be signed n then you choose to retire lol he a clown f’im all he did was play like Scotty miller anyway

  39. Christopher Schiefen Says:

His first catch was brilliant…but he wasn’t even looking for the ball on one route, & his last play he tried to run and just fell down.

  40. unbelievable Says:

Giselle right now to Tom: “See ?!?”

    LOL.

You honestly couldn’t write a comedy as strange and twisted as the 2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  41. Gofortheface30 Says:

Tampabaybucsfan- you’re under the assumption that our receivers will all be healthy? That’s bold.

  42. Coburn Says:

At the very least do we elevate Geiger or finally give Thompkins a chance?

  43. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

Just heard Todd Bowles is away from practice today for personal reasons.

  44. Georger Says:

Stop with OBJ. He had a worst injury later in the year. Godwin is not totally healthy yet. OBJ is not the answer.

  45. captivajim Says:

he should take Julio with him.. Licht better be talking to OBJ …..

  46. Goatfarmer Says:

Todd is attending a clinic on how to teach grown football players how to tackle. Then he can fail to execute the coaching again.

  47. DoooshLaRue Says:

We need a tough TE, not more fragile WRs.

  48. ATLBuc Says:

HE was on a 10 day contract. He knew he’d have to kick rocks when the injured receivers returned.

  49. SB~LV Says:

    Devin Thompkins

  50. unbelievable Says:

    The 2022 Bucs dramedy:

    – Pathetic playoff loss to the Rams, fueled by some insanely biased and bullchit officiating.

    – Brady retires

    – Brady unretires 40 days later

    – Bruce Arians retires days later

    – Brady takes off 11 days in the middle of camp

    – Team does not appear to be “all in” anymore

    – Every receiver gets hurt so they sign Cole Beasley

    – Beasley retires after 2 games to be with family, pulling a reverse Tom Brady

    – Todd Bowles takes of random Wednesday in the middle of the season

EVERYTHING IS TOTALLY FINE YOU GUYS!!!

  51. Pewter Power Says:

Nah I think he’s retiring because someone else is coming in. Hopefully it’s to save face from being cut. We’ll be drafting a receiver pretty high next year.

  52. CrackWise Says:

    @Richard Dickson, got it right!!!

That or he is Grand Standing Tom with his “family values”.

Don’t really know and don’t really care. No more EXCUSES. LOL

  53. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

Unbelievable, don’t forget Marpet retiring at 28 years old and Jensen being lost for the season on the first practice.

  54. lambchop Says:

It’s not because of family. This dude was all over Tom’s jock and slidin in DMs to decide 2 games later that he’d rather be home like the rest of us on Sundays.

  55. beano Says:

The Bucs sucking and Tua suffering a potential brain injury makes players question if enough is enough … Tom is next.

  56. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    OBJ

  57. Leopold Stotch Says:

Wow, this is the same guy who was all up in Brady’s DMs bugging him to play, scorned other teams to join us, and just says “nah bro, I’m out”. What was the point?! My only question is, who tripped better? Beasley or Darden?

  58. Jack Sparrow Says:

My Beasley jersey is on route to be delivered by saturday. Good thing fanatics has a money back guarantee….. hahaha.

  59. THETRUTH Says:

Everyone is getting healthy again and he wasn’t going to get production. Not like he came in and made things better.

  60. Infomeplease Says:

It’s time to call up Devin Tompkins!!! MR. HANDS!!!

  61. Goatfarmer Says:

Mrs. Beasley missed Buffy and Mr. French.

  62. D-Rok Says:

Didn’t see this one coming! Who did? Wow.

  63. GOATWatcher Says:

Opening a roster spot for Travis Kelce, who’s tired of all the trick passes.

  64. Waterboy Says:

Lol I forwarded the link to someone else and realized the URL says “coke” beasley.

  65. EEK Says:

    He couldn’t separate

He probably saw film from KC game and knew he was done

    We appreciate the effort

  66. Buc4evr Says:

    Obj. And Suh.

  67. unbelievable Says:

“Coke Beasley” could be an epic halloween costume…

  68. VATom Says:

Makes you wonder how “little” that rotator cuff is. Maybe Cole sniffing that he isnt gonna be catching passes from Tom after all?

  69. Dooley Says:

    Meh

  70. Listnfrmafar Says:

Maybe things aren’t so good in Bowles world or BL wanted him to do a triple somersault during a reverse double twist screen pass on 2nd and 30. Wife and kids, that sound familiar? I wonder who’s next???

  71. ViSyl Says:

    Here comes OBJ

  72. Crickett Baker Says:

Maybe after seeing what he feels is a failing team he decided he didn’t have a chance at the SB like he thought he would with Tom. I hope he is dead wrong.

  73. Goatfarmer Says:

He knows he has declined to a level of suckage that he can’t hide from. That last catch was pathetic.

  74. Merryplankster777 Says:

Bucs already startint to pack it in for the season? Sheesh
    Not feeling great about ’22.

  75. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

    Goatfarmer Says:
    “That last catch was pathetic.”
    ____________

    It sure as hell was.
    What the HELL was THAT??
I was excited when he signed him, but not anytime after.
    No big loss.

  76. Listnfrmafar Says:

He didn’t like that BL’s game plan was written in crayon.

  77. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Wana punch this sack of spit in the gut

  78. Cobraboy Says:

At this point I’d say the dumpster is smoldering.

  79. Marine Buc Says:

I agree with the above… It would be nice to have both Gronk and
OBJ on board for the second half of the season.

They would probably have to restructure LT Smith in order to get all that done…

  80. DoooshLaRue Says:

    You ain’t wrong Cobra.

  81. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

Cobra & Doosh, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but for me Cole Beasley leaving the team hardly equates to a smoldering dumpster.

More like an inconsequential bush getting knocked over in the forest.

  82. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

I get your overall point that this has been an ODD offseason & season beginning, to say the least. But at the SAME time… it’s NOT really that hard to imagine it all coming together.

If this team reaches it’s goal this season, just THINK of all the stories we will remember about the year that got us there.

It will make 2000 look like child’s play, when we were sitting 8-5 and most national pundits had us DEAD IN THE WATER.

  83. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

    Correction, 7-5 i believe.

  84. TAMPA BAY DEMON™ Says:

    And correction, 2020, not 2000.
    Jeez. What is my problem??!!
    Sorry.

  85. Goatfarmer Says:

At least nothing has been consistent for the Bucs so far this year, other than inability to stop the run, poor tackling, poor kickoffs and punts, fumbling, and brain dead game planning and playcalling.

  86. Buffalo 54 Says:

Well, I don’t blame him ,the bucks signed him,and then didn’t play him,! When they should of , enjoy your retirement!

  87. Mike Titan Says:

Brady ain’t going nowhere, we got the next 4 games to beat up on some garbage teams & get the confidence going. Once playoffs start then the season really begins. Brady’s gonna throw for more yards this year, Mike Evans will have more TD’s than any other season, & the BUCS end up playing KC in the Superbowl, Brady gets his 8th & rides off into the sunset.

Can’ t blame him ,the bucks signed him,and didn’t play him when they should of!enjoy your retirement!

  90. Ladygaz Says:

The NFL world has gone bizarro….

  91. Kansas95Bucs Says:

Aint this the same dude that in Brady dm asking for a job??
    #NoBradySlander

  92. Ghost of Tom Brady Says:

Something isn’t right with this. Didn’t he say he had better offers but was looking for a team that was going to compete for a Super Bowl? Maybe Cole sees something we’re not. I wonder if we’ll see him in another uniform in a week or two.

  93. Capt.Tim Says:

    That Sucks.
Beasley is a Vet Receiver, with the kind of skills Brady loves.
Mysterious, but helped us out in a time of need.
    Enjoy retirement Sir

  94. JimmyJack Says:

Its very strange and I can only assume there was some kind of problem behind the scenes. Maybe it truely was his family but since since we will never know I will just wildly guess he doesnt like Gronk and when he heard Gronk was returning he bailed. Why not?

  95. Iistnfrmafar Says:

How many plays was he in during KC game. He came here to play with Brady, not ride pine.

  96. Mike Johnson Says:

    Julio Jones needs to follow.

  97. Marine Buc Says:

This reminds me of the GIF of Chip Kelley walking through the door – seeing Josh Freeman he puts the hat back on and walks right back out the door…

Could the same thing have happened with Cole Beasley and OC BL?

    LOL…

  98. Marine Buc Says:

    *Kelly…

  99. The Beer Whisperer Says:

So, Cole Beasley tells the Bucs to go pound sand, lol

  100. beano Says:

He came to play with Brady and knows Brady is leaving.

  101. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Bucs should bring in another old player, who don’t wanna be jerked around.

  102. adam from ny Says:

    wtf ?

did gisele send him home ?

did AB threaten his life ?

  103. adam from ny Says:

brady could be buckling or have a really bad shoulder – and is quitting as well…and it will all just be blamed on gisele

  104. David Richardson Says:

Best wishes for you & family. You just made your best play.

  105. adam from ny Says:

    everyone wants into tampa…

but beasley basically begged tommy b to play, then bailed out…

    something’s fishy af…

    #BeasleyBasicallyBeggedBuckledBailed #Bumba

  106. The Beer Whisperer Says:

One of the best receivers Bucs had, was Cole Beasley.
And they put him on practice squad, like he’s an amateur.

  107. The Beer Whisperer Says:

    “Everyone wants into Tampa”

    That’s why Beasley just quit?

    Another armchair no-body, lol

  108. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I’d want into Tampa too, if I didn’t have no job.

  109. Iistnfrmafar Says:

Guys his second week in Tampa a hurricane hits, he’s forced to practice and live in a hotel with screaming kids and barking dogs plus didn’t play, he must of said to myself, I want out of this sh@t show!

  110. Jackson TB12 Says:

    OBJ!
    Why not??!!!

  111. lambeau Says:

Evans, Godwin, Gage hardly came out of the KC game–probably decided he wasn’t interested in playing mostly ST snaps and being WR 5. No respect.

  112. adam from ny Says:

no way ^^^ with JJ and CG, he was literally a play away from being a #3…or even a #2 with gage getting banged up as well…

something went down, because he lobbied hard to become a buc – he said it himself

  113. Goatfarmer Says:

Anyone watching the atrocity against the Chiefs would see, he just fell down.

    Not in football shape.

Not motivated to learn a playbook with Tom’s expectations (thank god) on top of it.

Not going to break into the top 4.

Whatever. He was not here. Contributes to 2 losses. He has gone to pasture and knows it.

  114. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Gronk!

  115. Kody Says:

Just more of the same TRAGIC DRAMA plaguing this team. Things started going askew last year and have never righted themselves. Doesn’t feel like this is going to change anytime soon.

  116. Bucs Win Says:

    Storied career??? Calm down man.
