Gameday Tampa Bay

October 9th, 2022

Game 5

Dixie Chicks (2-2) at Bucs (2-2)

Kickoff: 1 p.m.

TV: WTVT-TV Channel 32.

Streaming: Fans may stream the broadcast from Buccaneers.com or on a mobile device using the Buccaneers official app or NFL+. Geographic restrictions apply.

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region (Transmisiones de radio en español en WTMP-FM 96.1 y WMGG-AM 1470 en Tampa). Additional stations throughout Florida on the Buccaneers Radio Network can be found here. The game will also be broadcast on SiriusXM Channel 232 (Buccaneers Radio Network broadcast feed).

Weather: Really nice day for watching a game. Expect a mostly sunny skies with tailgate temperatures in the mid-70s, per AccuWeather.com. That will quickly rise to 84 at kickoff and gradually rise to 88 by game’s end.

Odds: Per BetMGM, as of noon Saturday, Bucs -10; over/under 46.5.

Referees: Jerome Boger and his crew. Since 2016, when Boger’s crew has worked a divisional game, home teams are a ridiculous 18-3, per Sharp Football Analysis. In Bucs home games during the Brady era, the Bucs have averaged 35.5 points a game when Boger’s crew oversees the game. Boger’s gang does not like to call offensive holding and that seems to favor passing teams.

Injuries:  Dixie Chicks– Out: TE Kyle Pitts (hamstring). Bucs Out: TE Cam Brate (concussion), DT Akiem Hicks (foot), DB Logan Ryan (foot). Questionable: WR Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring), WR Russell Gage (back), WR Julio Jones (knee).

Outlook: Unless the Bucs play Santa Claus, Joe doesn’t see how the Bucs can lose. Yeah, the Dixie Chicks can run the ball. Big deal. The Bucs can score and have the passing attack to do so. Atlanta’s defense is lousy as well so the Bucs should not have an issue scoring. If the Bucs get out to a big lead early — you know, fast start? — the Bucs should cruise. The Dixie Chicks are not built for a shootout. If they try to get into a shootout, watch that gimmick runaround quarterback Marcus Mariota throw picks right and left. That is, provided the brittle glorified backup doesn’t get hurt on a Shaq Barrett sack.

Fun facts: Tom Brady has never lost to the Dixie Chicks. The last time Brady quarterbacked a team that lost three straight games was 20 years ago, before the Bucs won their first Super Bowl. The Bucs are currently on a two-game losing streak.

The week 4 reference reminds me how a Bowles defense can be had. Hopefully Bowles vacation day was actually to consult with Parcells or someone good.

    Geiger and Thompkins are activated.

  4. Wild Bill Says:

Interesting that so many teams are 2-2. Is that due to parity? Poor coaching? Fluoride in the drinking water?
