Todd Bowles All But Promises Running Backs Not Named “Leonard Fournette” Will See More Playing Time

September 26th, 2022

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

Todd Bowles didn’t say it. He didn’t have to. You could tell by the body language and his reaction.

The Bucs head coach is peeved Playoff Lenny got worked to the bone yesterday. Oh, Bowles seems fine with feeding Playoff Lenny a lot of touches. But not utilizing another running back seems to really have rubbed Bowles the wrong way.

When Bowles was asked about Playoff Lenny being the only running back to run the ball during Bowles’ day-after presser this afternoon, Bowles shook his head back and forth in disgust and said that’s not going to happen next week.

“We gotta play the other two more,” Bowles said. “You know, when Lenny gets in a flow, we still gotta play the other two more.

“We didn’t have it a lot in the first half but that still should not be a reason to not play the other guys. And we’ll make sure that gets done.”

Backup Rachaad White was on offense for six snaps. He never touched the ball and was not targeted in the passing game. Sneak Vaughn never took a snap on offense, but he was on the field for seven special teams snaps.

So Bucs fans who cannot understand why White or Vaughn were not part of the offense, Bowles shares your concerns. And Bowles vows that will be corrected.

    Mr Leftwitch UR FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. DBS Says:

So in other words. Bowles is going to have to get involved in the offense anyway. Not a good look for BL.

  3. DBS Says:

Bring in the Red Marker. Hook up a headset to Ariens .

  4. Byedon Leftbitch Says:

    Fire Leftwich NOW!!!!!

    You amateur play calling scumbag!

  5. Craig Says:

Lenny needs to get rested up some. He was tentative hitting the line and that means that his leg is still hurting.

We also need to be sure the other two are worth their salt in real games.

  6. ElioT Says:

Boy did Jacksonville dodge a huge bullet when Byron “pulled out” of the HC search.

I’m already over this dude after three games.

  7. Winny Testaverde Says:

The 33rd/Nerd Team is a quality retirement joint for has beens. Having said that…I wish I could join. Trey Wango was enemy #1 with JBF during the Raheem Morris Era IIRC. The Joes proving they are a forgiving bunch. 🙂

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

Who gave the Jets the okay to empty their trash at One Bucs Place?

I know many of you do not appreciate some of my comments regarding your team and that’s OK but to those living in Tampa or surrounding areas be safe during these next few days!!!

  9. zzbucs Says:

Most of people here have become a Bunch of crying babies!!!

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Here’s what you do… take all the plays that Leftwich is going to run, assign them a number, like play 1, and play 9, etc – then put it into a randomizer, and then run the plays in the order of the randomizer. This should result in Leftwich being so insanely predictable, which would instantly help, in particular, the running game.

  11. Darin Says:

Yeah it was hot af yesterday. Even if fournette was tearing it up you still give him some rest. Not smart lefty

  12. Buczilla Says:

Maybe the other running backs suck and can’t be trusted? Licht has yet to draft a good running back.

  13. captivajim Says:

BL will not be a hc anywhere in the NFl….But, as long as BA is around Lefty keeps his job .

  14. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Be careful for what you wish for.
Bucs record is pretty good, with Byron Leftwich as OC.

  15. Oneilbuc Says:

Lol 😂😂😂 bucs fans on this site is always looking for a scapegoat. I thought Brady calls his own plays ?? I also thought Brady makes every one good because he’s Brady right?? It’s funny because when we win it’s all about Brady and BL or no one else on offense gets any credit for winning. But they get all the blame for losing lol 🤣🤣. This is my whole push back against yall and this is why y’all think I hate Brady because I don’t make comments like I’m reading now.

  16. Redeemer Says:

Craig is right. It’s okay to bring the other kids in to spell Lenny, but I wouldn’t expect any significant workload shift. He’s their best running back by a mile. Arians wasn’t calling plays last year, and things looked just fine. I’m not a huge fan of BL, but Brady has a huge hand in the gameplan. I would run more hurry up. Stick Brady in the gun, 5 wide and let him work. Don’t give the defense time to sub, or adjust.

  17. SPARKY Says:

After week one I said I would eat crow for saying Julio Jones was a bad pickup because he is past his prime. But now I am going back to my original thoughts.I am sending the crow back to whoever is the crow keeper. We keep bringing in these older guy trying to get something out of them. Jones, Hicks, Sherman, Rudolph, McCoy, Bell, maybe Beasley now, and we get nothing out of them. Lenny is on the older side of a running back life.. It might be a good idea to see what we have in White and Vaughn. I hope I get the crow back.

  18. Goatfarmer Says:

BL isn’t getting fired. But, he definitely needs a blunt, stern and professional performance review and performance improvement plan. When one is given great empowerment and one fails, one must expect the loss of some portion of that empowerment.

    Good on ya, Todd.

Boron, meet Bruce. Bruce, Boron. Now, get to,work. Fast.

  19. Goatfarmer Says:

Osqueeler – how’s that quarterback development program in New Orleans going?

  20. Goatfarmer Says:

No one is ever happier with a Bucs loss than Osqueeler. What a tool.

  21. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

That guys a wind bag, to say we have serious problems. Our offensive line is coming together. Donnie being out has hurt. Hainsey, Goedke and Mason have played really well. Leftwich definitely deserves some blame for predictive play calling on first down. We are ALWAYS 2nd and 10. It kills us!!! I’m ready for Brady to take over the play calling. That and getting the big 3 receivers back are going to make a huge difference.

Our DEFENSE ROCKS!!! And DEFENSE wins championships. If they stay healthy, the offense will gel. Watch out!! This definitely is the team to beat!! Go Bucs!!!

  22. swashbuckin Says:

Wish the Bucs could hire Bieniemy or someone with more vision on offense.

  23. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I haven’t seen Byron Leftwich on the field one single play, fumbling, stumbling, dropping passes or getting blown off the line of scrimmage.
That’s been left up to the players.

  24. Goatfarmer Says:

Beer – which flavor do you enjoy whispering to the most? I’m thirsty.

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“But Lenny do what he do”………If coach Bowles says “Play the other backs, we be playin’ the other backs”

  26. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I hate to ask, but WTF Is Boron ?
Asking for a friend, of course

  27. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Hey Goatfarmer, I’m not real choosey, and like to rotate.
It’s been mostly Coors, lately. (Colorado kool-aid)

  28. Joe Says:

Wish the Bucs could hire Bieniemy or someone with more vision on offense.

Don’t tell that to Shady McCoy. He thinks Bieniemy is garbage. And Shady played for him.

  29. Leftwichgottago Says:

In 20 years of watching Brady I have only been mad at the coaching once. When Butler was benched in the Phillies super bowl. I am weekly SHOCKED at the incompetence of BL. FFS… it’s a job like any other. If I sucked that much at my job every week and had to be bailed out I would be replaced ASAP. Just sayin’

  30. pewter941 Says:

Whats it going to take for us to draft a decent runningback? Seems like our scouting in this department is horrible.

  31. Goatfarmer Says:

    Chris –

Boron is an element on the periodic table. It is comfortable being what it is. Not many compounds with boron in the universe.

It is also derived from substituting Leftwich’s “y” with an “o.”

    It also rhymes with “moron.”

  32. Dooley Says:

GOOD! Took 3 games to realize if you got talent at the RB outside of the formation, with the firepower we’re missing at WR, that maybe we should be putting the best guys we’ve got available on the field to help shoulder the load.

  33. Beeej Says:

I doubt Brady cares who runs the ball, but he most definitely wants Lenny to be the one who catches the ball

  34. Fairminded Says:

Straight talk from the Head Coach. Love to see it

  35. JimbobBucfan Says:

Leftwich has his ups and downs as a chief play caller. He needs to get a better overall game perspective should he ever find himself in the role of head coach in the NFL.

I am pulling for him to succeed in his career as a coach. And it’s not just because he is currently a Buccaneer.

    Go Bucs!

  36. JVZ Says:

It is amazing to read these to the point if looking forward to it.

Thank all of you for that!😀

You know, we are all armchair head coaches that each see it differently. That’s what makes this fun. It’s ok to poke each other the way the majority do. It’s like a bunch of close friends.

But the hard core name calling goes too far! Just sayin’.

  37. Crickett Baker Says:

Even after the Boron explanation, I don’t get it still, Chris. Anyway, it did seem like Bowles was gonna do more on offense, and remember that BA is still around to make suggestions. IDK what is going on but I feel that Brady is not his inspirational self these days. He is not smiling enough and seems less positive. As I have said before I think his wife is going through a mid-life crisis and it may be rubbing off on him. Regardless, it seemed that players were not running routes well. In the beginning, I saw JTS leaving his target to go after someone else and Rogers threw a pass to his original target who was undefended. I also noticed (much to my surprise) that Aaron was not even sweating. That was weird. I hope the Bucs get it all figured out.

  38. Listnfrmafar Says:

Oneilbucyall, read Joe’s posts please before you make your usual moronic statement. Bowles was asked if Brady should run the O and he said sternly “That’s Byron Leftwich’s job!” What else you got? He hit on 73.8″ of his passes. I would pay to see Jamais or Trask play with that cast of characters with that Jets hand me down HC.

  39. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

I’d like to be more patient with Leftwich and all but the fact he needs to be told this is very concerning.

  40. Destinjohnny Says:

B Rob was there for the taking
He won the commanders job the first week in camp
    Jason watch sec football bro
    Unreal

  41. Listnfrmafar Says:

BA is awful quiet today. Maybe he is a little embarrassed by his top notch coaching staff he promoted. Clown posey. Where the head goes the arse follows.

  42. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilaints 😂😂😂 go join your saints family. Your messiah is tearing them apart we’ve seen that movie before.

  43. Lou in srq Says:

Shows why Byron didn’t get a head coach position. Perhaps the other teams were aware of the fact he wasn’t ready to be head coach
