“Crazy” Bucs Wide Receivers

September 8th, 2022

Bucs receivers make Mike Evans smile.

When you lose receiver who would be a lock for the Hall of Fame if he had his head screwed on straight, your wide receiver room has to take a dropoff, right?

As Lee Corso would mumble, “Not so fast my friend!”

Joe has stated that the Bucs may have the greatest set of four receivers (Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones and Russell Gage) in the history of the NFL. And Mike Evans wouldn’t argue.

Yesterday Evans spoke about the “crazy” potential of the group.

“It’s crazy – an all-time great (Fruit Loops Antonio Brown) left and then we bring another all-time great in (Julio Jones),” Evans said. “It’s crazy. I’m looking forward to what we can do this season.

“We had a phenomenal camp. Russ [Gage] and Julio – we saw them put in work in Atlanta and they’re going to put in a lot of work for us.”

When Godwin comes back, who knows how good this offense could be?

Yeah, Joe knows losing foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski is huge. But maybe defenses will be so worried about Bucs receivers that it will leave Cam Brate or Kyle Rudolph or Cade Otton open to do damage?

Joe is stoked for Sunday night. Even with Godwin on the shelf (Joe thinks), the Bucs still have the firepower to keep Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn up all night.

This is from Evans standing at his locker yesterday. –Joe

It is just on paper. We have to see the connection between Brady and 2 new receivers. I don’t think they are better than AB and Gronks.

  3. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Blitzing us will be very very dangerous for a defense.

    “Fruit Loops”

Lol the perfect nickname for nut job AB…

I think all would agree a certain tranquility arises when a disruptive psychopath is removed from your midst. There are few things worse than attempting to digest a bad box of Fruit Loops.
Chapter 1 from this year’s group begins scribing its autobiography on Sunday night. If Evans and company can mix well with their publisher, Brady, they should be able to produce one helluva book.

  6. A Bucs Fan Says:

Sherman said the most true and funny thing about Jamel Dean in this podcast. He said “Dean catch the ball like he is getting into a fight with it.” Cracked me up, but I hope it’s not true this season.

You really think that’s going to be a problem with Tom Brady?

  8. George Says:

Having great receivers doesn’t matter if your quarterback doesn’t have the time to throw them the ball.

Part of what Makes Brady great is his ability to make all the reads . If he is getting away from a sack attempt that is pretty hard to do

  9. Maniac Buc Says:

Never understood how fans feel entitled to attack players personally. For a publication to do it is even worse. Keep it about football. Constantly attacking AB, or any other player, personally is as disgraceful as it gets. Seen people talk about the way Devin White talks, etc. The fact that people think that’s ok is sickening.

It will be good to see what a highly motivated Julio Jones looks like with Brady……but my sleeper is Russell Gage….I think he will receive the least attention Sunday night…….
    Bucs…..28….Cowboys 20…..

Our defense will be strong…..it’s healthy, and we have good depth.

    Guys, I like Fruit Loops.
Can we please refer to AB as Grape Nuts? I’m certain nobody likes those.
    Suh.

    Constantly attacking AB

That SOB cost the Bucs a Super Bowl. Joe should write a daily post about that A-hole.

As Whitey Herzog said, if a player wants a Buddy, buy a dog.

  13. Tobo Says:

I love Brady and the Bucs.We all know that 1 bad defensive call cost us the Ring, not AB. Brady brought us all the way back- like he always does.

  14. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    @ Maniac, “…keep it about football…”

When your teammate, one of your best players, is crying about not getting enough touches (attention), refuses to go back into a game, then walks out on his team DURING the game, THAT is clearly about football. What am I missing?

  15. Netwalker Says:

These great receivers won’t matter now that we’ve been informed that Brady is inaccurate. Glad we found that out early so we can start Gabbert to begin the season. Stats are for losers.

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

Harry, you have it right. Truth has become an abstract concept.

  17. Youngbucs Says:

No problem joe I had only saw the podcast at the time.

  18. Eli Says:

AB committed treason and deserves to walk the plank into the depths of Tampa Bay never to be seen or heard from again!
