“Probably A Gametime Decision” For Julio Jones; Donovan Smith Sat Out Practice

September 23rd, 2022

“Julio, we’re 2-0. Take all the time you need.”

Friday injury mysteries are a staple at One Buc Palace.

The final formal practice of the week ended with head coach Todd Bowles not having much to share on the injury front.

Julio Jones and his mysterious bad knee will probably be a gametime decision, Bowles said. Of course, that’s meaningless. Jones was a gametime decision against the Saints last Sunday and did not play.

As of now, superstar receiver Chris Godwin has not been ruled out of Sunday’s game, but he hasn’t practiced since his opening day hamstring injury. So it’s a safe bet that he’s out.

Donovan Smith returned yesterday for his first practice after hyperextending his elbow on Sept. 11, but he got today off. That was odd. Joe figured Smith would be “limited,” but Bowles said the team wanted to give Smith rest and it wasn’t a setback.

Joe would wager on Smith playing. No cash is leaving Joe’s wallet when it comes to the other guys.

    JJ will play!!!

It was only ever a bruise from bagging his knee on the turf during what would have been his second SPECTACULAR catch of the game.

I remember the good old days before game 1,when we 8 deep at receiver smh

Tampa, where injury prone players like Julio and Godwin come to steal $$$$

  4. Jerry R Jones Says:

Banging his knee while running close to 20mph at 30+ years old, yeah, he might have a lingering injury.

  5. BillyBucco Says:

I hope everyone but ME 13 plays still Jerry R Jones

  6. SB~LV Says:

    Let them heal another week!

  7. Gbobucsfan Says:

Would be nice for them to play in the home opener but need them for the long haul

  8. Dooley Says:

Man, I’m just hoping Cade Otton is good to go with all the time he’s missed this week. I’ve read it isn’t injury or illness related, but a week for a rookie has got to count as more time in terms of getting reps considering the work he’s gotten with the starting offense.

You’re about a decade late for that. You’re thinking of Easy Money Sweezy et al. Nowadays Tampa is where really good players come to win.

Howard suspects that you’re just trolling to start conversation

    Is Julio Jones soft?

  11. John McKay #1 Fan Bob Says:

Will the real “joint” see Ray, as in X ,and report to the active lineup NOW !!!

  12. John McKay #1 Fan Bob Says:

Your X-ray has been approved for Sundays action.

  13. SteelStudBuc Says:

Bruised knees are terrible. I hurdled a concrete curb wall and clipped my knee on the top of the wall on a construction site and I couldn’t kneel down on that knee for like 6 weeks. Excruciating pain, deep bruise… I thought I broke the damn thing.

  14. Dooley Says:

I take that back, I’ll totally understand if Cade Otton can’t play Sunday. Best wishes to him & his family

  15. Anon Says:

I’ve heard from some sources that Julio is going to play FYI. He even announced as such on Lenny’s instagram live after Saints win.

BTW they probably sat out Julio because the Saints play in a dome. The dome of the Cowboys is one of hardest surfaces to play on in the NFL.

  16. Crunchbuc Says:

Wanna talk mystery injuries…we still don’t know what the hell happened to Jensen’s knee or if he will have surgery. That’s some B’s right there.

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

Somebody gotta start having Sure hands on the receiving end. Brady threw quite a few bullets that were missed last week. I got a feeling we may see Beasley as early as Sunday.

  18. Don Eladio Says:

Howard pewter is correct. This has been a HABITUAL issue with our receivers since before Brady got here. It is beyond old. I’m sick of it. And everyone can spare me the empathy card. I don’t know them. They aren’t my family. They aren’t my friends. They get paid a lot more. All I care about, is for people to consistently show up. I have no use for injury prone players, and Tampa for whatever GD reason is a place where players pull up lame with hammys. It’s a joke. Guys being injured last yr, robbed the team and fans of two in a row, and it’s giving people migraines just two games in to a new season. IT NEVER F’ING ENDS

  19. Buccaboo Says:

Julio Jones is just punking teams for the money. He did this to Atlanta snd Tennesee and now us.

  20. Goatfarmer Says:

Some serious moronisms going on here.

  21. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

    Agreed, Goatfarmer.
    Jesus F’ing C.
Calm the hell down, some of you.
They are not acting, and they will be just fine.

  22. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

With ya Dooley, on Cade Otton. Feeling for the kid. The pic of he & his mom, out there, is pretty special.
