“Night And Day”

September 8th, 2022

Julio speaks.

Joe loves how Julio Jones cut right to the meat of something on every Bucs fan’s mind as the 2022 regular season kickoff nears.

Speaking at his locker today, Julio said it’s a “night and day” difference when it comes to assessing his health now versus the challenges he’s had the past few years. Nothing is holding Julio back, he says, and nothing is “lingering.”

The future Hall of Fame receiver says the Bucs are masters at knowing how to handle veteran players so they’re not overworked and “get enough reps to be game-ready.”

Joe could share a bunch of other Julio quotes but it would be overkill. His chatter today jibes with a 1-on-1 chat Joe had with Julio in Tennessee.

As for gelling with Tom Brady, Julio said he loves how Brady literally communicates on every play and leads with authority when it comes to being vocal in meetings and everywhere. Brady is eager to “overcommunicate,” Julio says, and that really impresses the Bucs’ new No. 2 or No. 3 receiver.

So what now if Julio is healthy? The Dallas defense will have to deal with healthy Hall of Famers in Mike Evans, Brady and Julio. Good luck with that.

Once fully healthy, our top 4 WR’s are going to cause major problems for people.

  2. Goatfarmer Says:

I hesitate to believe that Julio can be the 2017 Julio. But…………….even if for a few games…………….

This thought has me feeling the warms.

  3. #8 Says:

Holy sheet. I always thought it was ‘jive with’ vs. ‘jibe with’.
Joe you taught me something today.
Intensive purposes, chester drawers, bathroom on the right sort of stuff.
    Suh.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Julio is not just healthy…..he’s motivated and that’s because of Brady…

I can’t emphasize enough how important that motivation is for a aging talented superstar like Jones…….even if it’s a few games….he will be worth it…..

It looks like we switched out Tyler Johnson & Antonio Brown for Julio & Gage……I really liked TJ but Julio will have far more impact.

  5. CrackWise Says:

Let me beat the OL crybabies to it. Maybe I will save them some money from having to buy more tissue for their tears.

Having a heathy JJ from day one means Brady will be able to beat a blitzing LB over the middle. You won’t be able to blitz up the middle without risking getting torched all game long.

  6. Leighroy Says:

Good to hear, and I want to believe so bad, I really do! But he’s got to make it through 17 games and the post season to make an impact, not just beat the cowgirls. I’m glad he’s healthy now in Week 1, but he has been the last 2 years too.

In Week 1 of 2020 he caught 9 of 12 targets for 157 yards but by week 4 he popped a hammy and then the injuries lingered. In 2021 for the Titans he had 6 for 128 in week 2, but only played 6 out of 9 games before landing on IR.

Again, I want to believe. But I need to see him healthy for the whole marathon, just not at the starting line.

  7. BT Says:

I still remember him snatching balls out of the air as our DBs attempted an interception.

  8. CrackWise Says:

    @Leighroy

    Fair point.

I am of the belief that you don’t count on injuries though. If and when the happen, you adjust from that point forward and its next man up.

This is why I am a Darden fan. He will have sat behind 3 HOFers and he has the talent to be great also. I think Scotty and the others are benefiting the same way. So, I am 100% certain that if JJ or anyone goes down. Our depth in the WR room is far more talented/dynamic than last year’s team. Even our practice squad WRs are benefitting will be chomping at the bit to go.

That said, I believe we are going to see them run the ball a ton early this season. Perhaps, partly to preserve the top end WRs

  9. George Says:

Love that Julio is healthy and enthusiastic for the start of the season.

  10. Destinjohnny Says:

Let’s enjoy all these free agents while we have them.
The Trask years and no free agents wanting to come here along with having to field a roster of drafted players is coming.

  11. MonkeyMan Says:

Good luck with that is right!!

    Bucs by 40

    LFG

  12. SlyPirate Says:

This Bucs’ team is unreal on paper. How far they go come down to two factors:
    1. Protecting TB12
    2. Health

  13. Buccos Says:

This years team is so much better than last years. It’s addition by subtraction. AB couldn’t wait to blow up this team. A ticking time bomb. We were lucky to get one good year from him. Also I believe Gronk is coming back. I’m not buying his retirement. It’s a long season. We shall see. God save the queen

  14. Trask To The Future Says:

TMZ and other sites reporting Brady and Gisele are not currently living together and may be headed for divorce.

This could turn out to be a major distraction this season for Tom.

  15. CrackWise Says:

    @Trask To The Future

If that is true, Brady will focus on football more than ever.

We might have Brady for a couple more years too. Maybe that is why our top 3 WRs and RB signed 3-year deals?

I can’t imagine him not winning the MVP if he does what he did last year. Then if and when he wins the SB MVP. He will be driven to repeat and then after that he will want to be the first QB to lead two organizations to Dynasty status as he will want 4 SBs with the Bucs.

He will then retire as the only player to play into his 50’s. Even though he will have played his last game and not be all in at that point and may retire after week 1.

In steps Trask. The second QB in franchise history to be given a QB extension (not named Brady).

  16. HC Grover Says:

All Brady will do with the divorce is throw up a Bat Signal droves of Foxy Ladies will come a runnun’. It will be a stampede.

  17. cmurda Says:

@HC Grover. LMAO but you are seriously right. It would be amazing to catch a glimpse of.

  18. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Bucs are going to pour it on the Cowgirls ! Let them blitz and Brady hits Evans and then Jones and back and forth on his way to a 6 TD night with 500 yards . Play action and quick slant’s over the middle and then turn it up with Lenny when Dallas D abandon the blitz and Lenny gets his 5 catch/ 20 rush for 120 yard’s and a TD ! It’s gonna be GREAT ! Oh yeah , Prescott has a ankle problem after practice today ! Go Bucs

  19. MadMax Says:

    Go Bills!

  20. MadMax Says:

I hate the Rams….who’s with me?

  21. Walter Says:

Rams defense looks less dangerous this year. Wagner looks slow in coverage, secondary is mediocre outside of Ramsey, and he gets burnt from time to time

  22. Scooter Says:

Watching Thurs. Nite game, nice not hearing Al Michaels voice.

  23. DoooshLaRue Says:

    I hate the Rams too.
Sean McVay is a d!ckhead and all the Hollywood celebrity fans can suck it.

Bills look damn good and Josh Allen is outstanding!

  24. Jbeachbuc Says:

Go Bills… Tom Brady knows, Vongina Miller is a cheap shot artist… F that d-bag

  25. MadMax Says:

^ he’s with the Bills now lol

  26. DoooshLaRue Says:

    FU Matt Gay.

  27. MadMax Says:

    haha, yup

  28. Infomeplease Says:

Dooosh, In RayJ he couldn’t make a fg if his life depended on it!!! In LA a different story!

    3 more days…LFG!!

  29. DBS Says:

Can’t blame him. He too had unfinished business. If he couldn’t kick here why can he now? Again a Special Teams problem?

  30. MadMax Says:

Josh 20/23 2 td’s so far, and that td pass had some serious zip….he’s right there in the top 3

  31. steele Says:

TraskToTheFuture, if Brady is getting a divorce, it may be less of a distraction that you think. Recall that Kobe Bryant faced rape charges over a long stretch of time. The games were a tremendous joy and relief for that monster. I am pretty sure that ball is Brady’s home as well. Also, Brady has been through monster breakups already. Bridget Monahan, kid, etc.

  32. MadMax Says:

Josh got that fire like Brady…aint afraid to get in the dirty and laughs it off…i love it.

    av 2.2 sec release.

  33. George Says:

Rooting for The Bills . Need NFC teams to lose games

  34. MadMax Says:

Im going to hate it if we face them in the SB lol…..it very well could be our match up.

  35. Infomeplease Says:

Off topic.. the Bills look good!

  36. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Dink and dunk, and run it down their throat – then deep ball. How you beat the Rams and Aints.

  37. MadMax Says:

OMG what a throw and catch!!! My goodness!!!!

  38. Steven007 Says:

Another blown play by Ramsey. Got to love it. Starting to get burned on the regular.

  39. MadMax Says:

im loving it…RAMS CAN SUCK IT!!!!

  40. Steven007 Says:

Josh Allen is my second favorite quarterback in the league. Very happy to be proven wrong about him. Thought the Bills made a bone-headed move when they drafted him so early. That’s why I’m not a scout.

  41. Steven007 Says:

How nice is it to see Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald pouting on the bench. Ramsey looks like such a p****.

  42. MadMax Says:

Ok Im changing my prediction on our first 4 games to 3-1…rams aint the same anymore!

  43. IrishTony Says:

Rams suck! They look like an average team both offensively and defensively.

  44. MadMax Says:

Sorry, had the rams mixed up with the chiefs….too much tekillya…haha

  45. MadMax Says:

But yeah, we’re gonna win that Rams game Nov 6

  46. IrishTony Says:

I’m rooting for a Bill’s- Bucs Super Bowl. I’m a lifelong Bucs fan (since 76 still have my McDonalds cup from the inaugural season) but if the Bill’s won wouldn’t be upset!

  47. IrishTony Says:

It’s finny the Bills are one of like 2 teams in the NFL we have a winning record against.

  48. IrishTony Says:

It’s finny the Bills are one of 2 teams in the NFL we have a winning record against.

  49. MadMax Says:

Im not saying Josh Allen is Brady, but he’s the closest to him. If somewhere down the road, a few or 4 years from now, a circumstance chance occurs that we could grab him, we better do it!

  50. Rod Munch Says:

I’ll believe it when I see it, but if Julio plays like he did a few years ago, the Bucs will be nearly unstoppable. Julio was the best WR in football for a long time, and if he is anything close that, man, that would almost be unfair.

Now cut Darden and go resign AB and lets have the best WR room in the history of the NFL.

  51. Goatfarmer Says:

If it weren’t for Geezahag, Tom would have 10 rings by now. You don’t ever try to take the best of the best off of their craft when they are still the best. For any reason. You just don’t. She is a selfish equine imposter and he can do way better. As he should.

Ghag: “What more do you have to prove?”
Tommy: “That you won’t control me and I can do a lot better than you.”

  52. Rod Munch Says:

Seeing that photo, it reminds me of how NIKE had the gull to blame the pandemic for not being able to produce Buccaneers throwback jerseys for this season.

Really? Sure it isn’t the ban on slave labor products from China, Nike? What a garbage company. I hope literally anyone else, even Amazon Basic, wins the NFL contract next time around, because Nike is trash.

  53. Bucschamp Says:

    Smokescreen. He’s never healthy

  54. George Says:

Rams had some offensive line problems . Stafford couldn’t get much done . This is a preview of Bucs season . Hopefully Management will realize this and make a move to get some o line help with experience
