All About Getting To Week 1

September 3rd, 2022

National TV spot.

As you likely already know, the Bucs kick off the season in eight days. Joe can smell the brisket in Dallas from here.

Yes, there was drama this summer leading up to training camp. Drama with Playoff Lenny allegedly turning into Ralphie May. Drama in Tom Brady taking an 11-day siesta in the middle of training camp.

Joe really didn’t give a s(p)it about either subject. So long as Playoff Lenny was in shape to start the season and Brady was standing behind center in Dallas on Week 1, that was Joe’s bottom line.

Yesterday, Playoff Lenny appeared on the “Rich Eisen Show” and Eisen asked him about the weight stories. Of course, Brady pushing the pause button on training camp was a topic.

As for the stories of Playoff Lenny allegedly ballooning to 260 pounds, Playoff Lenny seemed to react with laughter about the whole thing.

“I guess it was slow media for the football world, for the media world,” Playoff Lanny said. “So, I guess they wanted to use my weight, I guess, for a hot topic.

“I mean, I didn’t mind. I made jokes out of it. It didn’t bother me at all.”

Playoff Lenny said there was no doubt he would be in fine shape by September, especially when you consider who is his quarterback.

“I had no choice,” Playoff Lenny said. “I had to be ready to roll with the offense we’ve got.”

Playoff Lenny said he and his teammates were good with Brady taking off because Brady was real with them telling them his absence was only temporary. Besides, Playoff Lenny said, it’s Tom freaking Brady.

“At the end of the day we are all human,” Playoff Lenny said. “We all have challenges. … we all have issues. Nobody is perfect.”

Then Playoff Lenny discussed his new coach, Todd Bowles. Playoff Lenny noted Bowles is very much like his predecessor with one huge difference: Bowles doesn’t cuss out the team quite like former Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

“They are both same at the end,” Playoff Lenny said. “Coach Bowles is more laid back but he’s old school.

“He loves us and he cares for us. So why not bear down and work for a guy like that?”

Playoff Lenny is like his teammates in the sense they look up to and respect Bowles.

To hear more of Playoff Lenny, you can listen to the audio below.

  1. George Says:

Bucs have no chance against Dallas . Micah Parsons going to run right past our left guard and harass Brady all game long.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Just love our RB room led by Lenny…….White will be a star……Sneak is solid & Gio will be a big contributor if he can stay healthy….

I suspect we will be able to add Ko Kieft to that list if he lines up at FB a few times.

  3. Beeej Says:

Thought same George, I expect they’ll have to trade a receiver or two for extra protection. Kieft prolly really useful there, plus he keeps alive the possibility of a run play

  4. Jp09 Says:

Parsons won’t have time to get to Brady. With Evans, Godwin, Jones and Gage Bucs win by 10 to open the season and hopefully shut you dopes up

  5. Dooley Says:

Parsons lines up as an LOLB over our RT Tristan Wirfs, relax

  6. Ed Says:

Room full of old receivers and you cut Johnson a young up coming star to keep old man Brady happy. I pray for the running backs when everyone knows the Bucs will run the ball on first downs.

  7. David Says:

    George. Beeej.

    Bunch a pseudo Buc fans.
The Bucs will destroy Dallas! Their o-line won’t be able to stop the Buc D- line!!
Zeke won’t be able to run.

    Bucs- 34
    D – 17

  8. Bird Says:

There is a rumor that zeke is finally going to turn his belly button into a happy face emoji this year . He is really going to up his half torn jersey belly button game this year

  9. BucsNoles Says:

There are few things Bucs fans like better than kicking the Cowgurls butts in their house.

  10. HC Grover Says:

A laid back atmosphere, how nice.

  11. Biff Barker Says:

Yes, like many others the OL is a concern but I’m dreading the Cowpokes shredding the gravediggers to pieces once again.
    Deja vu all over again.

  12. Steven007 Says:

George, I think your name was Jeff last week.

  13. Wild Bill Says:

I look for Brady to dunk and dink the Cowboys to death and throwing on first down!!! Get them focused on pass rush then mix in the run game. Bucs have been too predictable in the past. They need to be more aggressive on first downs. 2nd and short sets up the run.

  14. Jmarkbuc Says:

    BucNoles

    Hope you’re right since we’re 2-12 there.

  15. ScottyMack Says:

Jmarkbuc, it depends which stat you choose to go with. You went negative, associating this team with woeful Bucs teams of the past. I choose to go with the stat that Tom Brady has NEVER lost to the Cowboys, in ANY stadium.

  16. Buccos Says:

Bucs destroy Dallas. Wirfs owns Parsons. Gravediggers lockdown Dallas receivers. And nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Bucs 35-13

  17. DFW Buc Says:

First off Joe, the best brisket is in Fort Worth. The Cowboys are still overrated. They lack the depth needed to handle the playoff run. Bucs will pick them apart.

  18. Anonymous Says:

Those teammates that attended a full training camp will be fully Cowboy ready ….those who didn’t won’t!

  19. SB~LV Says:

    Gesssh

I just figured out that we have to wait until 8:20 Sunday night to start the season

  20. Mark A Swygert Says:

I guess that the Joes are happy for the traffic on their site, but I really don’t understand why fans of other teams, you know despicable low-life , trash-talking trolls , post on a site called Joebucsfan. You think you’re gonna”turn” us or something? The only thing that could remove my loyalty would be if some other city managed to steal our franchise. I don’t visit other teams fan sites. Why should I? All I have to do is get on this site and respond to to you bottom-dwellers.

  21. Francesca L Says:

I hope that Giselle supports Tom and is proud. If he was an officer in the military she would be expected to sacrifice a lot.
I’m sure it’s hard but if her family is there for Tom as a unit it will be better in the long run. He’ll have a job once he retires anyway just no possibility of getting seriously hurt.

  22. HC Grover Says:

Thanks JBF you got us through the whole off season…LFG

  23. swashbucklin Says:

Looks like the Cowboys are picking up Jason Peters, so won’t be riding w/ the rook.

  24. Bird Says:

[Enough of your sh!t! Joe’s spoken about this multiple times on Ira’s pod. Don’t like Joe, no need to be here. — Joe]

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Steven007…that was funny!

  26. Crickett Baker Says:

I’ll say this. If you are going to be a fortune teller and say the Bucs are going to lose, why don’t you just say it on a Cowboy website and make those fans happy instead of being a bummer here? I also think Fournette could be the best speaker we have on the team. I don’t think I heard “you know”, “uh” or “um” even once. Bowles is much better than Arians in that regard, as well.

  27. Duane Says:

Even if Parsons balled out how is Dallas going to score points? They only have one receiver, and running the football is not going to be an option for success. This game will not be as close as it was last season. Would not be surprised if TB12 uses Parsons’ aggressive play against him and he chases his tail all night. Lets GOOOOOO!

  28. Bucs Win Says:

We’re going to win the GD super bowl.

  29. ClwJB Says:

Early on Lenny may be most valuable cleaning up the pocket in pass pro supporting those new inside guys –

  30. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

First play from scrimmage on offense… Play action deep. Probably Scotty or Julio. Maybe Mike.

  31. David Says:

Bird….. Just another absolutely miserable person. See ya!!!

  32. Daryl Green Says:

I’m not sure why he even got to 260 or let speculation’s get too
That point. “ If you steady ready, you don’t have to get ready”

  33. Wild Bill Says:

Ha ha. Opinions are like but holes. Everybody has one. I can’t wait for the season to start! Win or loose I love da Bucs!

  34. nick houllis Says:

    Are we Tennessee ready?
if you were a Bucs fan in 2014 you’ll know what a funny line that is. The Joes mention it a lot.
    Lovie Smith
    Jameis Winston
    Marcus Mariotta
and all three of those characters will be doing their thing 8 years later on opening day, believe it or not.

Lovie Smith, Bucs head coach, made reference all offseason about being Tennessee ready, as that was the first game of the year. Bucs rookie starter Winston going against Titans rookie starter Mariotta, and Mariotta and the Titans, running basically the rookies college offense, made it look like Lovie didn’t spend a single minute looking at game film

Lovie, not head coach of the Houston Texans, his 3rd head coaching job, something that almost never happens, hopes to have his team INDI ready! pile on the Colts players in your fantasy teams and be thankful is 2022!
