Inactive Bucs Versus Dallas

September 11th, 2022

Bucs tight end Kyle Rudolph.

The names are in and some of them are big.

The following Buccaneers officially are inactive for tonight’s game.

They didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just the Bucs adhering to the dumb NFL rule that says not everyone on a roster can play in each game.

Offensive tackle Fred Johnson
Rookie cornerback Zyon McCollum
Wide receiver Scotty Miller
Tight end Kyle Rudolph
Running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn
Quarterback Kyle Trask

Rudolph appeared to have a fitness issue in training camp and preseason, so Joe’s not totally surprised given that he doesn’t play special teams.

McCollum is injured and Vaughn is well known for his lack of special teams ability.

Scotty Miller on the bench means newcomer receiver Russell Gage is ready to play, alongside Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Julio Jones. Let the fireworks fly!

So, we dump Tyler Johnson for Scotty…..then sit Scotty……but, it’s a long season…..

  2. geno711 Says:

Scotty made plays in Special Teams last year. Tyler did not. Probably was easy choice for Bucs.

Tyler Johnson won’t do much for the Texans being inactive as well.

  3. AbucAway Says:

Kyle Rudolph with a fitness issue? Is like an issue issue fitness taco in his mouth or a lost step issue?

  4. Rod Munch Says:

    Darden is active over Miller?

Wow… Darden must have something on Licht that is very very ugly and very disturbing.

  5. Evo Says:

Rudolph is not playing today? I wonder what’s up with that. Isnt he supposed to be the replacement for gronk. But 2 rookies playing instead of him?

  6. CrackWise Says:

    GRONK IS COMING BACK!!!

    YEAH BOOOOOOOOOOOOOY!!!!

  7. CrackWise Says:

Darden, about to put the doubters in the DUNGEN!

  8. Winny Testaverde Says:

Rudolph is completely washed…not unlike Ira’s Cherry Red Ford.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

When OJ got released by Buffalo, I highly highly recommended the Bucs cut Rudolph and resign OJ. As just a blocker who can run an occasional route, he’d be useful. Last year he played like 350 snaps, most as a blocker, and people didn’t notice him – which is a good thing.

In fairness, I believe Rudolph’s contract is fully guaranteed, so I’m not sure they could afford to cut him. It’s not a big contract, but they don’t have any real cap space to waste, in particular if they want to try to lure Gronk to come back.

Tyler Johnson inactive and OJ Howard catches TD pass. Luckily for Lovie, the Colts looked awful. Matt Ryan may b toast..

  11. Miller5252 Says:

Who’s taking bets that’s the first play for the Bucs is a run up the middle???? Any takers???😂

  12. Rod Munch Says:

BuxfaninTX – Actually OJ caught 2 TDs.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Miller5252 – Haha… that needs to be a prop bet somewhere. I need to check the betting sites and see if anyone has that listed.

    LOL

  15. Rod Munch Says:

I don’t see that prop bet being offered, that stinks since I would have put $50 on it being a run. I can only find first play of the game is a rush, but it’s not team specific.

We did not dump him for Scotty. We dumped him for 3 receivers who all run a lot faster and have more special teams ability. It’s too bad, because he’s a good player, but if you’re competing for the 5th, 6th, and 7th receiver you have to have special teams ability.

  17. AbucAway Says:

Same here Rod. I was going to put 50 on the first possession, first play, up the middle, left or right of center. Couldn’t place it

    Darden returning punts
    White returning kicks

    Rudolph is a little surprising.

Miller… A little surprising since I thought he would be a gunner but other than that, he had a pretty weak preseason.
Plus Godwin and Gage and Julio and Evans and Perriman are all ready to roll!!!

    LFG!! Stay healthy!

Biggest surprise to me is Vaughn.

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So….some NFC competitors have gone down…..Packers, Rams, Cardinals….

Too bad the Falcons had another miserable 4th quarter meltdown vs Saints…..

    Go Bucs!!!

Let me be the first to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The fact that Miller is absolutely correct is so sad…
