“I Don’t Think Dallas’ Defensive Line Is Good Enough To Take Advantage”

September 8th, 2022

A couple of deep NFL thinkers see the Bucs taking care of business rather easily against the Cowboys on Sunday night. That has Joe preparing a morning Big Storm beer.

Former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms, the NBC Sports film guru, already has predicted the Bucs to go 11-6 this season, but he is confident Sunday is not one of those losses.

“I don’t think Dallas’ defensive line is good enough to take advantage [of the Bucs’ inexperience at center and left guard,] Simms said on PFT PM. He added that he sees the Bucs moving the ball “up and down the field” on Dallas, nearly at will.

Simms keeps coming back to the Bucs having too many weapons, a great system and that the offensive line should be “good enough.” His game score is Bucs 34-30, likely because Todd Bowles gets burned taking too many risks on defense, he said.

Simms partner on the show, Pro Football Talk guru Mike Florio, said he is being kind to Cowboys fans picking the Bucs to win by just three points, 31-28.

It depends in part on Wirfs’ health. Dallas sometimes deploys Micah Parsons at DE, where he’d line up against Wirfs. That’s typically where he excels at pass rush. A healthy Wirfs can handle him. But if Wirfs needs another week or two to heal the oblique injury, that’s another story.

They could also send a LB in to test the A or B gap. The Dallas line isn’t that impressive overall on the interior but the player to watch is Parsons.

I expect we’ll run more, everything I read says inexperienced linemen have an easier time with that

  3. George Says:

Our offensive line problems are too big to overcome. Lots of 3 and punts . Dallas will dominate time of possession and win easily.

Weapons aside, time helps to aim before you fire.

    Let the season begin!!! LFG!!!

Yes I would expect more runs. Goedeke and Mason are more run blockers. Lenny and White are better getting through the a b-gap anyway if they wanna try to blitz up the middle all day.

    45-13 B over C

Just keep the chains moving and we’ll win by two scores pretty easily. All these offensive weapons doesn’t mean it needs to be high flying. It means we should be able to efficiently move the ball at will.
This team should never have to punt. 3 and outs should be non-existent, but I thought that same thing last year. Russell Gage should be a chain mover for this team. He should be like 3rd and Ike Hilliard.

Goedeke got thrown around like a rag doll in the last preseason game, the Bucs defense will have to save the day.

I fear the Cowboys. An ugly loss could be a real problem for this team going forward.

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Is Joe baiting the Trask haters with a reversed photo of Trask?

  13. Defense Rules Says:

Beano … LMAO. Isn’t that a photo of Chris Simms as a Buc though?

  14. A Says:

Just get the win – hopefully come out healthy

    Go Bucs!

  15. Goatfarmer Says:

The Dallas defense would bat down five or six of Simms’ passes no matter how good he thinks they are.

  18. Jerseybuc Says:

Already told you once Georgie to kick rocks. Dallas has one rusher. 1 wideout n a rookie LT. when you going back to your rock guess after the Bucs win Sunday you will go away

  19. Rod Munch Says:

Simms, when he’s doing his own show and away from the woke warrior Folio, he’s actually does a pretty good job at analysis, well, outside of his infatuation with Shannahan, which is ridiculous. Also he was really down on Brady for a while, I think its from his time at the Patriots and I’m guessing Brady mistook Sims for a ballboy or something, and he’s carrying a grudge.

In any case, this was a pick show with Folio, so he didn’t get into a ton of detail, but Sims tends to keep a closer eye on Tampa than other teams, and does a good job picking them (he was one of the very very few that picked the Bucs winning at GB to go to the SB for example).

    So I hope he’s right.

But Bucs are 1-12 all-time in Dallas. Although the one win was the last time they went to Dallas to open the season, in 2001.
