“You Have The Answers To The Test Already”

August 13th, 2022

Todd Bowles weighs in.

Todd Bowles is the ultimate win-now NFL head coach. Nobody’s under more pressure to eat Ws. The roster is loaded and the quarterback is 45 and on an August vacation.

Bowles seems to know it, if you listened to his chat this week with Josina Anderson of CBS Sports HQ.

He didn’t back off saying the Bucs are after the Super Bowl and the team has exact steps/goals to get there.

Bowles’ confidence stems, in part, from his mistakes during in four long years as Jets head coach.

“You have the answers to the test already,” Bowles said of entering his new gig as Buccaneers’ top dog. “The first time, you don’t have the answers to the test. I think I’m a lot calmer. I think I understand letting your coaches coach and making decisions on things that happen every day, as opposed to them surprising you as a first-time head coach.”

Yes, Bowles knows the answers, and what it takes to be a Super Bowl winner.

He’s also got the quarterback, the weapons and a super-seasoned roster, plus a bunch of assistant coaches sporting Super Bowl rings.

It’s absolutely a no excuses regular season for the Bucs’ head coach. Anything less than a playoff-ready team playing at home in mid-January would probably be unacceptable.

Totally agree. This team looks loaded.

  2. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brady said Bowles and BL, you guys coach for a while, I’m tired. I’ll let you coach the preseason games but you two are not yet ready for the biggies yet. Bowles HC Jet’s bad, Rams playoff game, REALLY BAD! Bucs are loaded except the coaching staff, I’m talking quality not quantity.

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Coaches (esp, the D) may, indeed, be suspect. Hope they have learned from last year.

Off topic here, I just read Rojo might not make the chiefs roster.. the reason- can’t catch or block.

  5. Beeej Says:

Our second/third stringers are tons better than last year, which IMO, is the only reason were weren’t in the Super Bowl

Well. The rays could have said the same thing in April, but injuries change everything. This Brady thing this tear is not normal, sorry. Maybe nothing, we’ll know soon enough.
The rays also have some young talent playing well one day and blowing games the next.

I’m certainly rooting for Bowles. Would love to see at least a NFC Championship, if not the whole enchilada. That would give him a good boost of confidence going into 2023, presumably without TB12. That’s when the real challenge will begin.

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Without Brady will be Bowles biggest test.

  9. dmatt Says:

For those who keep ripping Bowles for losing to the Rams, heck, by all means try working ur magic to boot Bowles out n lure Mike Smith back at the helm, maybe he can do a better job. Let’s go ahead n blame Bowles for the following:
2 bonehead punts to give the rams the ball at 40 yrs line, a missed field goal, three separate unsportsmanlike penalties by Lavonte, Brady, n Suh, several poor tackles in the secondary which lead to big first downs, n poor blocking by the offense which lead to Brady sacked three times.

That’s kind of funny. Not wishing bad on Rojo, it’s funny because three weeks ago the talk was he might win the starting position. When I saw that I laughed and said no he’s not, they’re a passing offense.

  12. Anonymous Says:

Are you guys bashing the same coaching staff that won a SuperBowl with a 43 year old QB!?

  13. Buc1987 Says:

dmatt…calm down it’s only another off base Patriots fan.

  14. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Yes, we truly have a loaded roster this year, and quite possibly the very best overall receivers group ever assembled by any NFL Team!
As long as we can protect Brady, we are flat gonna put up some points!
If Bowles can not win with this team, then he is not an NFL Head Coach, so yes, the pressure to win now is on him.
I think he will be up to the challenge, and see no reason why we will not be playing in the Super Bowl this year.

  15. Biff Barker Says:

I just looked up RoJo and his status at KC. Seems he can run the ball and that’s it. He’s the same one trick pony. KC is learning quickly why the Bucs let him go.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

Bowles got unlucky going to the Jets. That franchise is a royal mess from ownership on down. A long time Bucs fan knows how to recognize it cos we’ve been through it. Mebbe it will right itself, mebbe not. I’m going to be watching the Defense now that he’s got the HC helm again. It will be fun.

  17. Goatfarmer Says:

    Tackle. Cover. Contain. Pressure. Sack.

    Know thy assignments in zone.

  18. Buczilla Says:

Our team is good enough to make the playoffs with sorry ole Gabbert, so anything less than another superbowl win is a complete failure. That is of course as long as brady decides he’s done f’ing off and gets back to work. 😜

  19. DoooshLaRue Says:

I heard Brady is having a tummy-tuck and a scrotal lift.
    Very personal issues indeed.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

Anonymous, no we are talking about a 43 yr old QB that won a SB without a incompetent coaching staff. If they were they would of won 2 SB’s.

  21. GOB Says:

Fact remains that the gameplan against the Rams was incredibly flawed. You don’t blitz a QB that has a 70% completion percentage, and one int against the blitz all year. If that wasn’t enough info for bowles, he saw what Stafford did against the blitz vs. the Cardinals in the wild card game, a week earlier. More over, bowles saw that the blitz wasn’t working. He also saw that Stafford struggled with 7 in coverage. Simple logic would suggest you adjust the gameplan accordingly. He didn’t. Until I see a different approach against the Rams, I’m reserving judgement on the other TB

  22. Listnfrmafar Says:

Studying for his interviews, no doubt about it.

  23. G.Marosi Says:

One more good season then get to watch TB12 talk about NFL well maybe?
