Todd Bowles: Lay Off Kyle Trask

August 21st, 2022

Coach has his back.

Joe noticed on social media that Bucs third-string quarterback Kyle Trask caught hell last night. And Todd Bowles had a message for those folks: Back off.

After the Bucs mustered just three points in the second preseason game last night, the head coach wasn’t about to throw Trask under the bus.

Trask played the majority of the game and Bowles said the whole offense played badly and many of those plays made Trask look bad.

“You can’t say take a step back,” Bowles said when asked if Trask regressed. “Sometimes it was the pressure, sometimes they had the routes covered and he was sitting in there.

“You’ve got to look at the tape to say whether he played efficient enough. Nobody played efficient on offense – we only had three points. So, you can’t just put it on the quarterback. There’s a lot of factors involved in that.

Bowles is correct. On an ugly interception, Trask had his right arm blasted as he was throwing. Other times dudes were covered. And then there is this Kaylon Geiger. He can’t catch a cold if Trask is throwing to him.

Joe cannot tell you how many times this camp meat receiver dropped cans of corn from Trask this summer. During Trask’s second-worst practice, Trask threw a dime down the middle about 40 yards and as Geiger was at the goal line, this cock-high pass, was dropped.

Trask’s reaction to this awful drop looked like someone had sucked out his very soul. Even teammates went up to pat him on the shoulder to try to cheer him up.

  1. Alanbucsfan Says:

If Trask was a 6th round pick, the excuse making could be tolerated. He is what he is- a decent college QB who is a LONG way from being an NFL starter, if ever.

  2. NCBucfan Says:

A mix of everything, line very inconsistent, wrs running wrong routes, and Trask holding the ball too long sometimes. What a Sh$$ Show!

  3. SDROLMONKEY Says:

“cock-high pass”. For those that thought Joe had it in for Trask the “cock-high pass” that was dropped should stand as a monument to his support of the qb.

  4. Oneilbuc Says:

Trask gets a c to me to many drops and no blocking .

  5. SB~LV Says:

I agree, my only criticism is that his mental clock and pocket awareness and were to move ( slide) needs to improve.

  6. Confused Buc Fan Says:

Joe, what exactly is a cock-high pass, lol?

  7. Rayjay1122 Says:

Well guess what folks, anyone honestly think even TB12 could do very well trying to compete passes to the likes of Geiger. Trask has a lot to learn still and he will. I still think he will be a solid starting QB before Trask is done with Football.

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Trasks only problem was the coaching they didn’t let him do basically anything last year. So finally this year Bowles is giving him a lot of reps.

  9. Bobby M. Says:

His upside reminds me of Joe Flacco….he’ll look effective with enough supporting talent but once he gets a big contract, the cap hit will deplete the talent and then you’ll see an avg game manager. I think the telling sign is nobody ever raves about Trask. If he were dicing up the defense at practice, there would be chatter. That being said, Gabbert was equally ineffective and we know his ceiling so why we bother starting him over Trask is perplexing.

  10. Anonymous Says:

Alan, that decent college QB was second in Heisman voting and should have won it over that decent DUI manslaughtering wide receiver. Some people are just complete dillitantes.

  11. Anonymous Says:

Bobby, are you deaf or do you watch bucs games muted? Ronde Barber has raved about him the last two games. Smdh

  12. Scott Says:

    i hate bowles already

  13. PSL Bob Says:

Rayjay, I have to agree. That deep pass he threw to Scotty was great. He made some really good throws last night. If he had better protection and if his receivers would get some separation and/or catch the damn ball, I think he’d be fine. Granted his pocket presence/internal clock needs to improve, but overall I’m not giving up on him.

  14. Bird Says:

Anyone that thinks the bucs will roll the dice with trask next year are
    Delusional.

And i have a more positive opinion of him than my
Brother who is a hard core gator fan /graduate . He said bust right away for second round pick

  15. Buddha Says:

Bowles will be fine. These are practice games. Trask has yet to throw a pass to a starting wide receiver.

  16. Oxycondoms Says:

Read between the lines its not a step back when you still play like ass

  17. dmatt Says:

Few things…Trask is not ready for prime time. I get it the lineman didn’t help but he’s to jittery n tense in the pocket. He stare down his receivers n doesn’t have pocket presence. He reminds me of Trent Dilfer. I can see Aaron Donald putting fear in Trask the same way John Randle put fear in Dilfer. Why didn’t they play Deven Thompson more. That guy is fearless n has great hands. They kept throwing to Geiger but on one play he showed he was scared to catch the ball. Logan Hall has not impressed me. Dee Delaney n and Rashard Robinson shouldn’t make the team. I’ll take Don Gardner over both. Despite his fumble, Rachael White will be the difference maker he reminds me of a prime Leveon Bell. Fournette looked slow n over weight. If Ko Keift added 39 lbs he’d be a beast of an OL.

  18. Oxycondoms Says:

Trask throwing it to starting wrs means he will be throwing against starting defenders thats when things get ugly

  19. ModHairKen Says:

Listen to Buddha. It’s preseason. Pre Season. This is when you try things. This is when you gauge how long you can hold a pass. This is when you throw questionable passes to see how wide the windows are.

    This is practice.

  20. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

Last week Trask clearly looked like an NFL QB and brought the team at the end into a position where they could have won. While no one may ever confuse him with Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, he showed he belongs in the NFL.

Last night was ugly, and there are things he needs to get better at, but that’s typical of most ALL QBs transitioning from college to the NFL. He’s good enough right now though where he could win some regular season games if he played with all the 1’st team starters…IF the O-line can protect him. If the O-line cannot give sufficient time, most QBs, including the GOAT, will struggle.

  21. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

I’m trying to understand what the Trask haters are saying. Is it that Kyle should be able to protect himself, throw, and catch? Is it that he would not be able to move the ball if protected by the OL ones, if Playoff Lenny was his RB and a target out of the backfield, and if Mike, Chris, Luke, Julio, and Cam were playing? Or is it something else? When he had time, he threw a bunch of dimes. Same at UF. When he had time and a really good WR corps, well, he finished second in the Heisman. Some actual thoughtful analysis rather than hyperbole and vitriol would be nice sometimes. Just sayin.

  22. Wild Bill Says:

I don’t blame Trask for the Bucs woes. I actually think he has shown dam good potential especially since he was given zero opportunity all last season. So in reality he is now pretty much a total rookie as far as true game experience goes. And I cannot blame Trask for the obvious lack of talent in this year’s O line. Premature retirements, loosing talent to teams willing to pay more and injuries have now left the Bucs with a very questionable O line. I also think Trask has looked better than expected, but not even Brady can take the Bucs to the Super Bowl with what’s left of the O line. And nobody is going to offer up fair deals to the Bucs. Look for high mileage used up vets for short term fill ins or trades offering some of our surplus receivers or future years draft picks to plug the holes.

  23. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

For those who keep postulating about Trask’s supposed lack of pocket presence it is him believing in the routes and bring patient for one to open up. The fact he doesn’t move back and forth in the pocket so to speak is him not being bothered by the pressure not lack of awareness. He doesn’t have happy feet like Dilfer. I will say this too many dbs saw where he was going with his deeper passes as soon as he threw them and was able to break on them. This lack of arm strength is starting to ring true. Too many passes didn’t have a lot of zip on them.

  24. Goatfarmer Says:

Geiger is gone right now. Vyncynt Smith – gone. Bug Howard – gone. The fact that Rudolph played tells me he needs the work and it showed. Given the OL condition and the fact that we are pretty deep at TE with Brate and the youngsters, and that kid Howland has made some nice athletic catches in practice in against the Dolphins – I wouldn’t keep Rudolph just because he was good once. He looked terrible.

The Puds offense looks horrible, maybe JL can swindle Belichoad for another OL.

  25. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Anonymous
Couldn’t beat an unranked LSU team at home with National Championship on the line- not all Trask’s fault, but there it is…

  26. Tye Says:

Surely we can all agree the Bucs did not instill confidence in anyone last night!

  27. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Trask needs to stop fumbling mostly.

  28. Scott Says:

    trask sucks

  29. Denny Gay Says:

    What is a cock-high pass?

  30. Scott Says:

we need a real backup because gabbert sucks too

  31. Craig Says:

Blame the whole rest of the team.

The recievers could not catch, when they bothered to try and get open.

The line could not have stopped a five year old child.

The defense could not figure out how to tackle.

Trask did okay, considering he had no help at all. He does need some more reps to help find a smooth spot, but they need to be quality reps, not a train wreck of a team.

  32. Gary Says:

Trask is not our future quarterback unless you wanna go back to the playoff drought days!! Wake up Bucs fans

  33. Goatfarmer Says:

Todd says to lay off Kyle Trask. I agree.

    Lay him off!

  34. JDStill Says:

This was not a football game , in reality it was a pre-planned test for players hoping to win a spot on the team . Look at what was done for the backs , nothing outside, no sweeps , no pitchouts, it was all straight ahead ,hard runs between the tackles, for the offensive line ,it was all straight ahead , smash mouth blocking, and who could do it, as far as pass blocking , look at the plays they had Kyle throw ,nothing in the flats , no easy drop offs or flare passes to the backs, it was all intermediate and deep routes to see how long the line could hold their blocks and also how well receivers on the bubble could do on those most difficult routes , it really had nothing to do with Trask’s performance, , as Coach Ariens said in his interview , they know how good he is , ( in fact , it was amazing that Kyle had no passes intercepted on those routes and managed to complete as many as he did), so it was, a fair test, giving everyone a fair shot in the most difficult situations they could put them in outside of an actual game that really counted, with the cuts that are coming we will see who they think passed that test.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

JDStill, I’m leaning toward your point of view.

  36. CruzanBuc Says:

This was typical vanilla game plan this was just played to sell tickets and make cash the coaches saw what they needed in joint practice this game is for bubble guys to see if they worth the risk.

  37. August 1976 Buc Says:

Trask sux because he did not block, and he dropped to many passes. I mean what he doing lol, Trask is fine, but will any QB last behind the Bucs walking mash unit offensive line?
BTW I heard was a Buc, but you cannot tell that right now. 🤔

    GO BUCS!!!!

  38. Capt.Tim Says:

    He played terrible.
And if he starts- he’ll get all of our Recievers killed in the first game.
Sorry Gator Fans, but all the love and excuses wont change the truth.
Dont worry, The Bucs will keep him as a 3rd stringer, just to save face for drafting him( See Logan Hall). But pray he never starts.

  39. NCBucfan Says:

Trask had some good moments. Would love for him to just take the sack or throw the ball away though. Our defense was playing well and could’ve won the game for us without the turnovers, But it’s preseason and our top 4 receivers weren’t playing. I def give him a pass.

  40. NCBucfan Says:

    And Kieft>Rudolph!

  41. beano Says:

Once again, how can coaches evaluate a quarterback when they deny him reps with the first team? Does anyone really believe Brady would have shined last night playing with Trask’s scrubs? No way.

  42. NCBucfan Says:

Rudolph total garbage at this point.

  43. beano Says:

If Brady had played with last night’s scrubs and been sacked and threw a pick and had multiple passes dropped you all would be crying how it was all on the scrubs and not on Tommy. Admit it.

  44. Robert C. Cooper Says:

Tom Brady would be crushed behind that line and with most of those receivers.

Trask showed me some courage last night.

Is he the future answer? Who knows? Is he as bad as casuals bleat? Hell to the no…

There is no way to evaluate Trask until he gets significant reps with #1’s in even a PS game.

  45. Darin Says:

Scotty Miller dropped an early 45 yd dime. Talk about story worthy whew. Game changer. May as well blame trask and Ronald jones

  46. beano Says:

“Darin Says: Scotty Miller dropped an early 45 yd dime. Talk about story worthy whew. Game changer.”

The haters don’t want to hear about that.

  47. Defense Rules Says:

We’ve got 1 more ‘warmup’ before the real bullets start flying in Dallas on Sep 11th and all most ‘fans’ seem to be able to do is bitch about our 3rd string QB playing with soon-to-be-cut 3rd & 4th stringers. Seems to me like a lot of those same commenters were beyond giddy before training camp started because our offense was gonna chock up 35-40 points a game. And oh ya, most of them were hoping that our defense wouldn’t give up that many points every game.

As of today it seems to me that our DEFENSE better be our saving grace this year. We’ve got a 45-year-old QB who’s missing-in-action. We’ve lost a starting center whose replacement is playing like a rookie. We lost last year’s starting LG to retirement & his replacement isn’t quite up to the rookie level yet. Our starting RT is dinged up, and we don’t exactly have a plethora of OLine depth any longer. We’ve got great potential depth at WR however, which is good because half of our WR corps can’t practice because they’re nursing bumps & bruises BEFORE we even play our 1st game.

Yup, DEFENSE better be at least as good as last year (#5 ranking) if we expect to have a shot at the Super Bowl ring. After watching last night’s recurring missed tackles however, I’m not sure I’d want to put money on that one.

Good news though is that our Special Teams play was very special. Oh wait, no, that was Tennessee’s S/Ts that had a good night, not ours. My bad.

  48. beano Says:

I have been reading the Trask naysayers for a while and they make a claim that resurfaces frequently. Which is, that UF has never produced a great NFL quarterback and therefore Kyle Trask can’t be a great NFL quarterback.

Putting aside UF quarterback Rex Grossman, who is one of fewer than 40 men in history to take a team to the Super Bowl, I have two questions for the naysayers:

On draft day in 1991, would you have advised the Atlanta Falcons to NOT draft Brett Favre in the second round because his school, Southern Miss, had never produced a great (or even average) NFL quarterback?

In 1992, would you have advised the Green Bay Packers to NOT trade for Brett Favre because his school, Southern Miss, had never produced a great (or even average) NFL quarterback?

If you would have advised as such, you’re an idiot. If you would have recommended that draft and trade, you’re a hypocrite.

  49. matthew a veal Says:

I love Trask, but he plays a different style. his plays take a long time, he holds the ball and is patient. his plays take a while.

we like quick short plays in tampa and most of the league.

Trask might try to do it tampa’s way but it might not work. vice versa. and yet it could still have been worth the bet, just as a hedge.

The arguments are close to fair, their wording not as much sometimes.

    Either way time will tell.

  50. Bucsfan13 Says:

The Trask experiment is over this season. He got the increase reps people were complain about. It’s now time to focus on this year. No way we play Trask with our first team. Trask doesn’t need to work with first team to make an informed judgment on him. Pickett is playing with backups and he’s playing well. No more Trask talk! He’s been promoted to third string this year. That’s an improvement from last year when he didn’t even dress.

  51. Oxycondoms Says:

Trask floated multiple balls that wouldve been picked off by starting material dbs. Those passes had nothing to do with blocking . The bright spot is that hes a slow learner and things could get better for him in a couple of years but thats what people hoped for in jamies. Majority of the time is either you have it or you dont

  52. University of Seffner Says:

In other words, Coach Bowles saying: Don’t watch the football and make judgements. Watch how the O-Line and others are performing individually. Too many people don’t understand that, they just base their conclusions on the result of the play rather than looking granular.

  53. Chorizo Says:

Don’t sleep on Trask! His passes are on the money and if he has half a decent OL he could light people up every game. It wasn’t the best performance but I would love to see him with the whole starting unit. He is a gamer and he will be our guy. And it’s preseason, so he is going to be more willing to take more risks and make a play. You can’t say that he is inaccurate. He was throwing some dimes last night that weren’t getting caught.

  54. Bucsfanfrom76 Says:

Every time I see the dump on Trask commentary I go back and review his senior highlight video. Even though he had Pitts and Toney there, Trask had at least 10-15 passes that would be considered pro-bowl worthy in the eyes of most. Trask undoubtedly has some growing pains to overcome but I bet his TB12 similar grit will win the day. Unfortunately we Bucs fans will pay the price as he most likely will be on another team.

  55. Anonymous Says:

Joe, I agreed with you. The coach knows exactly why this loss and a bad game was not on Trask. So far, he knows they have been utilizing Trask as a tool only in the middle of pre-season games to evaluate other players hoping to win a spot on the team. Even with that Trask had solid back to back games against Texans and Dolphins. I am not sure how Trask has made it made it through these games without serious injury with such poor make shift OL. How can a qb build any confidence playing with minimal protection and receivers dropping balls in meaningless pre-season games ?
Why did Bucs drafted an qb in the second round if they were going to use him as qb3 and a scout qb for a second year in a row ?

  56. Joe Says:

Why did Bucs drafted an qb in the second round if they were going to use him as qb3 and a scout qb for a second year in a row ?

If you gave the Bucs truth serum have a hunch they would confess they expected Trask to be further along. Yeah, in retrospect, might have been better off with Davis Mills or a CB.

  57. Katheryn J. Johnson Says:

considering the matr=erial he had to work with, I think he looked wonderful. He should have been allowed to play one quarter last year instead of setting on the bench behind Brady. I hope he gets traded to a team that needs a good quarteback because I think he is being treaded unjustly. He was the best quarteback in the ncaa his last two years and deserved the heisman tropy. His stats were the best in the ncaa, He was passed over because espn and paul Fineboum lobbied for Alabamha to get the heisman. He will be good again as soon as he is traded to some team with recievers who can catch and hold a ball and has an o line.I have faith in you Kyle. Dont give up.

  58. beano Says:

“Joe Says: If you gave the Bucs truth serum have a hunch they would confess they expected Trask to be further along. Yeah, in retrospect, might have been better off with Davis Mills.”

David Mills played 13 games last season, throwing 394 passes. Trask played 0 games last season, throwing 0 passes. Only an idiot would expect Trask to be where David Mills is.

  59. Rod Munch Says:

Trask definitely took a step backwards last night in my opinion, but not a huge step. On the positive side, as stated, he threw some more, real, NFL passes with real NFL-level zip on the ball, and his ball placement was very good, early on. I think he missed on the pass to Scotty, he lead him a little out of bounds and just a tiny bit too far, also he had a similar deep pass to Geiger where he just very slightly overthrew him, literally by inches, that can be fixed with reps. So on those two, I do blame Trask for missing, but it’s not a big deal as the ball was thrown with zip and accuracy and with simple repetition those become catches. Geiger, as Joe noted, dropped the endzone pass, that was 100% on Geiger, but again, a great throw, and if it’s Evans or Godwin or Julio or Gage or Tyler Johnson or Miller or even Thomkins it’s probably a catch.

But on the bad side, as the game went along, Trask absolutely got worse. Now, in fairness, the talent also got worse. Later in the game, two throws, in particular, to #9, were terrible as Trask did not see the safety on either play. Trask not only didn’t see the safety, he’s gonna get his receivers killed doing that. Then, by far, the worst part of the night was at the very end, when they went to the hurry up, Trask reverted to his college self and started throwing softball cupcake no-zip passes, none of which were complete. The alarming part is that I had hoped the Bucs broke him of that, but clearly, when the game speed up, he reverted back to what he knows, and in the NFL, that doesn’t work.

But overall, I think it was a small step backwards, but most of what I saw can be overcome with reps.

  60. Howard Cosell Says:

LOL Brady leaves for 2 weeks and the whole damn team immediately regresses to the Yucs LOL

Bowles needs much stronger leadership in himself and the captains

    WWTBD?

  61. Oxycondoms Says:

I dont think the people that are down on trask doubt his skills and ability . For me its the “it factor” and his ability to process information quick enough. I dont think that since he isnt further along is a huge problem right now he has always been a slow learner. Theres still hope in that regard

  62. Oneilbuc Says:

So when Brady has a bad game I want to hear the same thing about Brady. I don’t want hear it’s the coaching or the blocking.

  63. beano Says:

    “he isnt further along”

You mean after taking 0 snaps last season he should be further along? Makes sense. /s

  64. Anonymous Says:

Joe Please do not compare Davis Mills with Kyle Trask who played in an elite SEC conference. Texans drafted Mills and played him as starter with their starters with the limited number of games played in college where Bucs put Trask in street cloths. Of course Mills should look better thanTrask in his second year. We will see.

The perception of critics is that Trask is only as good as the level of players he plays with at the time in college and his short NFL number of meaningless pre-season games. He was excellent playing with top receivers in Kyle Pitt and Tony. I guess Kyle Pitt ot Tony would have caught the 45 yard bomb to Miller yesterday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that is true then Trask is in with right team loaded with good receivers and he should be fine. Therefore the fans shouldn’t be concerned about Trask so far as he has not played any meaningful games with starters. These receivers are future truck drivers who dropped so many crucial passes against Titans. With no effective rushing yards the game result and Trask would have been a lot more positive if these fly by nights receivers had caught their balls.
So far Trask have had 2 int’s and 2 fumbles as result of poor protections collapsing pockets. Give Trask Tom Brady protection then see if he still throws picks and fumble.
This is just a poor planing when you expect qb to convert a 3rd and 18 long pass play in a meaningless pre-season game with such OL unless you want him injured. Only a rookie qb will be willing or forced to comply with these types of plays.

  65. Joe in Michigan Says:

Oneilbuc is putting Brady and Trask in the same category, even though Brady is one of the best ever and Trask hasn’t done anything…Makes sense to him, I guess.
Oneilbuc: Were you this much of a fan of Mike Glennon, too? 🤔

  66. Bucs Win Says:

    He definitely loves Glennon.

  67. Oneilbuc Says:

I’m not comparing them you doing that but it is funny how when Brady has a bad game and we lose it’s because of the team and coaches. But when we win it’s because of Brady I’m waiting on yall to say Brady lost us the saints game when he threw the same pick 6 yall said Jameis was going to throw.

  68. Oneilbuc Says:

Buc win . Well I rather support a player that actually wants to be on the team than a player who never wanted to play for us but he didn’t have a choice so he played. I would have told Brady by once I found out he wanted to play for the dolphins.

  69. David Says:

Yes the O did not play well but I will keep saying it… It is glaringly obvious he has not progressed one bit in two years. If the pocket is clean and he hits his first target, fantastic. Maybe even the second target.
If the pocket is closing down and he has to go through his progressions, horrendous. He doesn’t do it fast enough, he has no feel in the pocket, he doesn’t move around. He stands there flat footed. He’s responsible for some of those sacks by not being able to move and extend the play a little bit.
He’s responsible for the fumble when he stepped up into a collapsing pocket and shoved the ball forward right into the helmet of someone coming in. I like him and hope he does great but so far it does not look good.
Any quarterback in the NFL first second or third string can look good with a clean pocket and someone to throw to. How you fare under pressure is the key

  70. Bucs Win Says:

Some of you dudes are straight up delusional. Anyone that knows anything about NFL football can see Trask stinks, he couldn’t win three games this year with this loaded a$$ roster we have. I know this may be hard for some Gator ooops I mean Bucs fans to understand but almost beating Alabama doesn’t mean $hit when you’re in the NFL.

  71. Joe in Michigan Says:

Oneilbuc: I thank God every day that you’re not the Bucs GM…You would’ve signed Jameis to a $100 million a year contract and then took Trask with the 1st overall pick after Jameis threw games.

  72. David Says:

Bucs win… I would not say he stinks, but it’s not good.

He has not shown he can move in a pocket and he has a pocket passer. He’s not shown he has any type of feel for when the rush is coming towards him. There seems to be no internal clock. These are not things you coach, those are instinctive things.
So basically, if the pocket is clean and he has his first or second option to throw to he can do great but so what, so can every quarterback in the NFL currently. It’s all about how you do under pressure and it doesn’t look great for him. He looks like a forever back up

  73. DBS Says:

So you played college ball and never got drafted and couldn’t make it to the NFL but know more than the pros. Never played but know more than the pros. Ariens told everyone last night where Trask is at this stage. Did you listen? Most likely not. You could tell it was not coach speak because it was not all praise.

  74. Melvin Junior Says:

If, you can’t make a huge splash QB-signing or trade (Lamar Jackson, Etc….talking ‘high end/franchise-level’ and absolutely NOT Baker/JimmyG-level) before next season, then YES, role with Trask & see what ya got!!!! But, as soon as, YOU KNOW It Ain’ta Happnin… You start Blowin’ It TF UPPPPP, & before the ‘trade-deadline.’ Take advantage of all of these ‘older’ assets that we have locked-up (mostly, only bc of Brady), & move ‘em for future draft capital. Thennnn, more of the same after the end of the season… Move off of EVERYTHING you can that has ANY value whatsoever , & with very few exceptions of YOUNG future cornerstones ONLY, such as Wirfs, etc. EVEN, as much as it hurts, Godwin, Evans, & so on. Begin, the “rebuild” up front on the Offensive-Line, & TANK for MANNING (or whomever it may be that the ‘situation’ presents it to be)!!!! DO NOT Lose ANY Of ‘These Guys’ For NOTHING, While ‘Holding Onto’ A Middling-QB & a (6-11/8-9) TEAM, for YEARS… Take full advantage of what we have do have, NOW!!!! USE-IT. Otherwise, we’ll be STUCK, LOST for another DECADE, AGAIN.

  75. Oneilbuc Says:

Tampa Bay is where young quarterbacks careers come and die and that’s just been the history of the bucs when it comes to quarterbacks . They have never developed a one but yet the fan base keep blaming the quarterbacks . Lol 🤣🤣🤣

  76. Anonymous Says:

Qb’s have limited number of game changing passes which should be caught by the receivers in order to win games and build their confidence. The passes don’t have to be perfect to be caught. The two passes, 45 yard bomb to Miller and sure TD to Geiger were the game changer and should have been caught.

Tom Brady would be crushed behind that line and with most of those receivers.“

Exactly. Tristan Wirfs and Ryan Jensen weren’t blocking for him and throwing to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans

“Anonymous Says: Qb’s have limited number of game changing passes which should be caught by the receivers in order to win games and build their confidence. The passes don’t have to be perfect to be caught. The two passes, 45 yard bomb to Miller and sure TD to Geiger were the game changers and should have been caught.”

Bingo! Sadly, Joe would never write that. Not what the haters want to read.

Trask is a buccaneers whipping boy for anything not going right.
His oline is a bunch of nobody’s he’s brave to not flush the pocket and just throwing it away

  80. Posey99 Says:

Good experience for trask getting hammered by a sh*t oline and wide receivers dropping dimes. The more adversity the better. He’ll be spoiled when or if he gets to inherit a starting oline and Wr’s that can catch

“Trask definitely took a step backwards last night in my opinion, but not a huge step. On the positive side, as stated, he threw some more, real, NFL passes with real NFL-level zip on the ball, and his ball placement was very good, early on. I think he missed on the pass to Scotty, he lead him a little out of bounds and just a tiny bit too far, also he had a similar deep pass to Geiger where he just very slightly overthrew him, literally by inches.”

    No Rod Munch,
Scotty Miller let the pass goes off his hand in a perfect placed ball by Trask and Geiger should have have come up with the TD.

  82. Jonny Says:

Anonymous, the Heisman winner who beat out Trask (Devonta Smith) has never been charged with a DUI and never committed manslaughter. You are confusing one Alabama WR with another. Also who cares how Trask performed in college? It is hard to see upside in his game. There is no way he can be considered a decent starting option post Brady if our coaching staff doesn’t feel good enough to have him be the primary backup this year.

  83. Goatfarmer Says:

OhSqueel would rather lose but develop “young quarterbacks” so they could get used to losing , like Winston who definitely got used to losing. Would rather Brady be gone and go 3-14 with Kyle behind center. But but but then next year, he could be 6-11! Then 5-12! Yippee!

What a vacuum skull ( that means empty headed ).

  84. FBC Says:

Yeah put trask to throw to a bunch of 5ft nobody’s while the whole team is playing like sh**.
