Leonard Fournette Called His Mom Daily To Counsel Him

August 3rd, 2022

Leonard “Lombardi Lenny” Fournette is a fun guy, a smart guy, and an extremely sensitive guy.

Bucs fans remember when he arrived in Tampa in September of 2020. Fournette was stunned after the Jaguars cut him, and he didn’t recover mentally very quickly.

He pouted a bit and got down on himself as a No. 2 running back behind Ronald Jones. Bucco Bruce Arians benched him in early December of 2020 and Fournette was at a crossroads.

Thankfully, he chose the right path and became a Bucs legend.

Speaking on NFL Network yesterday, Lombardi Lenny said it’s been a challenging road in Tampa but he loves where he’s landed and is very happy. Some of the credit, he said, goes to his mother for counseling him before every practice — for months.

“I had to get on a prep call with my mom, 10 minutes every day, like the whole year until I started playing in the [2020] playoffs,” Fournette said. ” She was telling me like, ‘Just stay focused. You know who you are.’ things like that. And in the midst of that you get discouraged, you know. My biggest thing is to get my belief back.”

Fournette added that he wondered whether RoJoe was better than him and that was eating him up.

Lombardi Lenny is a one evolved dude at 27 years old. Joe has to say all signs are pointing to him having a monster year as a three-down back.

    The real GOAT.

I think it’s a sign of maturity. Whether you get counseled by family, coaches, or coworkers, having the humility and willingness to admit you can use some help and advice is a sign you get it. Lenny gets it, and he’ll continue to do well going forward.

With all due respect to Lenny, Tampa is a great team to play for, if you are a running back.
Since we are very much a pass first team, our running backs seldom face a stacked box.
LOL, stack the box against us, and Brady will kill you!
So, in our case, the passing threat sets up the run!
The Jags were little threat to hurt you with the pass, and as a result Lenny faced much more stacked boxes up there.

It is gonna be interesting to see how well ROJO does on his new team. He will not have the benefit of a dangerous passing attack, led by the best QB ever to play the game, as he did here in Tampa.

    Mom’s are the best!

  7. GOB Says:

I’m sure his momma doesn’t want him playing foosball with those Gargantuans. Momma says happiness comes from magic rays of sunshine, that come down when you’re feeling blue.

  8. GOB Says:

Mamma also says alligators are ornery, because they got all those teeth and no toothbrush.

  9. D-Rok Says:

Momma says Lenny has a big medulla oblongata.

Wonder if the Bucs need a new waterboy?

  10. RGA Says:

    Chris Tucker,
ROJO’s new team has a pretty good QB too!

  11. GOB Says:

D-Rok, I think there’s something wrong with your medulla oblongata. LoL

  12. D-Rok Says:

Probably, and proudly so, GOB. At least you don’t see me running around with a guardian cap on, LOL.

  15. Goatfarmer Says:

GOB – you come off poorly mocking Lenny’s mother like that.Especially that way.

  16. Goatfarmer Says:

Lenny – first Buc ever to have 2000 yards from scrimmage in Buc history.
