“I Think Father Time And The Saints Are Going To Rule The NFC South”

August 4th, 2022

Prediction.

Is this the end of the line for Tom Brady in more ways than one? A popular sports radio and television personality is banking on it.

Joe’s good friend Adam Schein just has too many questions about the Bucs. Start with a new head coach (Schein is from New York and he has a raised eyebrow with Todd Bowles).

Then, Schein looks at the interior of the offensive line. Lotta question marks.

Then Schein looks at Brady’s age. Schein believes the three (Bowles/the interior offensive line and Brady’s age) equal the end of the line for Brady dominating the NFL.

Schein is on the slimy Saints’ bandwagon and believes the  Bucs’ question marks along with the hex the slimy Saints have had over the Bucs in recent years means New Orleans will win the division.

Yes, led by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

You know what? Joe wouldn’t be slitting a wrist over this. You know why? While a wild card is certainly not Joe’s goal for the Bucs, what happened the last time the Bucs were a wild card team?

That’s right! Joe’s still tossing back drinks over what happened that year. 🙂

You can see Schein’s full take in the CBS Sports Network video below.

  1. BradyBucs Says:

Brady may actually have one of his best years ever.

People underestimate the value of Arians no longer being the coach and Brady and Leftwich being able to work even more closely together to craft the playbook that Tom wants to run & manage.

I would bet anything that one of the conditions for Tom to return was that he’d have a lot more say in calling plays or rejecting plays.

With all of Tom’s experience, combined with this, look for him to have one of his best years ever.

  2. Kody Says:

Off-setting Schein’s concerns are a stellar lineup of receivers, the fearsome duo of Lenny&White, and a D that’s looking pretty damn good. If we pickup Tretter, that hopefully shores up our OL. Bowles is a huge question mark, especially after that last Rams game, but the jury is out. All in all, I think TB, Bowles and the Bucs are gonna prove Schein quite wrong.

  3. Delusional Intelligence Says:

Logan Ryan + Keanu Neal > Tyrann Mathieu

  4. steele Says:

Forget Father Time and the Saints. The main problem might be Father Schedule, Uncles Top Playoff Contender and Aunt Roster Question Marks.

I’m not buying the spin that the schedule “isn’t that bad”. It’s horrendous. If they manage a wild card, it will be a huge accomplishment.

  5. Hodad Says:

Anyone picking a Winston led team over a Brady led team? Ill take that bed. Goat beats a jackass everytime.

  6. Leighroy Says:

It’s that time of the year when pundits have to attract eyeballs. Moving on…

  7. Defense Rules Says:

    Leighroy … B-I-N-G-O

  8. SufferingSince76 Says:

I guess Schein is relying on his vast football playing experience to make this call, huh? If the Bucs aren’t putting each and every dis of the team on the whiteboard they are nuts.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Notwithstanding their dominance over us, the Saints find a way to lose a bunch of games against other teams….

  10. mark2001 Says:

How these guys that are habitually wrong can cash a big paycheck and keep from living under a bridge is beyond me.

  11. Kentucky Buc Says:

    He lost his pocket protector.

  12. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

Schein always loved Winston and picked his team to be the one to upset. We all know how well he did for us which meant Schein got it wrong many times. Schein will get it wrong again. I’m hearing Jaboo has been throwing some pick sixes already at practice. The writing is on the wall and I’m sure we all know the outcome of this story. Go Bucs!!

  13. Razor Ramone Says:

Dennis Allen was lousy his first time as HC too. Jaboo is Jaboo.

  14. Beeej Says:

Having Gage AND Godwin on the field at the same time (it will happen eventually) tend to make me thing we are NOT going to be bombs away anymore, but shorter ball-control stuff. The long ball and that quick out pattern are usually the first thing older QB’s lose. In Peyton’s last year he had to launch the out pass well before the guy ever broke, and it looked more like a spiral punt than a pass. Hopefully Brady won’t decline that quickly

  15. Duane Says:

On a long enough timeline, saying TB12 is too old to productively play will be correct. Unfortunately, many have been saying this for the last 5 years, so its not a revelation.

  16. Bucs Win Says:

    Complete nonsense.

  17. Joseph C Simmons Says:

Where’s the Saints offense going to come from? They made Winston a game manager last year before he was hurt, which works pretty well when you have a running game, but Alvin Kamara is going to be suspended for probably half the year.

Now Sean Payton is gone, and the jury is out on Dennis Allen. I think the Saints will be good because their defense is top notch, but I have no reason their offense will move the ball at all. Their ceiling is wild card.

  18. Joseph C Simmons Says:

    “…no reason TO BELIEVE”

I hate not being able to edit

  19. Anonymous Says:

Goat beats a jackass gets tweet of the day!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

  20. Pewter Warrior Says:

Saints have two new starting Safeties, a NEW LT, a QB coming off an ACL who prior to the ACL had a habit of gifting opponents victories, a New Head Coach with 8 career victories, and a new offensive play caller.

Pundits talk about turnover for teams and how it will impact their performance but looking at it unbiasedly New Orleans has a lot of question marks going into the season.

Payton was scared to death to let Jameis throw last year.

New Orleans defense looks like the 85 Bears against us but gets lit up by every other team it seems

So just pump the breaks before hyping up the Saints

  21. Eddie Marz Says:

A lot of wishful thinking here. Let the games begin. I’m putting my money on The Bucs! Everybody says this is the year Brady drops off, hoping that they’ll be right some day. Ha ha ha keep wishing. GOBUCS!

  22. Pewter Power Says:

Don’t the saints have a new head coach? Didn’t they lose their pro bowl left tackle? Don’t they have two new starting safeties after one retired and the other left in free agency? They lost an elite head coach but he first see any question marks. He’s not popular and it’sa silly take once again someone being on Tom Brady being done for. Writers are never held accountable for dumb takes and he’ll be on the bandwagon later in the season

  23. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

So many seem to be ignoring the Saints, when they have got better too.
We have not matched up well against them in the past.
I think Rasheed White will be key in our defeat of the Saints this year.
They have been able to cover our receivers, but will not be able to account for a back who can catch and has blazing speed like White.
I think White will make the difference for us, against the Saints.
But it will always be a tough game against them.
Jameis has two new receivers in Landry and Olave, and the arm to hit them.
Hopefully we will not have to face Kamara too ?

  24. BelleGladeBuc Says:

I can remember a few years ago when the Bucs offense was loaded with weapons and their offense was led by Winston, who led one of the top offenses in all of the NFL.

Our front 4 had Suh, JPP, Shaq and Vea who were #1 against the run.

That team with Winston at quarterback was 7-9.

The Saints have talent on offense and defense, which is something Winston had while at Tampa.

Winston needs to demonstrate that he can protect the ball and not throw 30 interceptions and fumble the ball 10 times for a full 17 game season.

Bruce Arians obviously thought that Winston was incapable of leading his team to a Super Bowl Championship.

Sean Payton doesn’t think he can either, because he left the Saints and still wants to coach in the NFL as the Cowboys and Dolphins have shown in those coaching rumors.

  25. Aaron Says:

Just waiting for football but know we will beat y’all least once happens every year but it be at y’all’s house and everyone will always remember the 9-0 shutout and that was by that new coach

  26. LJ'sDaddy Says:

    Oh God, please no.

  27. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Aaron

    Winston is the question mark.

The Saints are very talented on both sides of the ball, as are the Bucs.

If you are arguing otherwise, then knowledgeable football people consider you not worth listening to.

It is logical and rational for people to be skeptical about Winston’s ability to not be a turnover machine for an entire season.

Winston has never done that before in his 7 year NFL career.

    Those are just the facts.

  28. Aaron Says:

Oh I am sorry mister tell your daughter I’ll call her back lol

  29. Aaron Says:

You see he got better last year until he got hurt so you know he’s going to get more better and with all Talent he’s got now and on other side we’re even stepping up more on defense is always been the number one y’all better worry about getting y’all’s quarterback cuz shady Brady’s going the Miami next year with Peyton because I paid salaries we don’t have to pay him no more

  30. Infomeplease Says:

If Jameis doesn’t throw 20+ picks then Kamara is running the ball 2 out of 3 plays!!

  31. JA Says:

Love it when someone picks against your team and the locals pile on:
    Idiot …
    Moron …
    Never played the game …
Fool who always gets it wrong …
How he still has a job is beyond me …
Meanwhile, a guy with the exact same journalistic qualifications, who does pick your team to succeed, should be awarded a Pulitzer Prize for outstanding sports reporting.
Ever sniff one of those Pulitzers, Joe or Joe?

  32. Infomeplease Says:

Aaron, James didn’t get better last year, he handed the ball off 3x more than prior seasons.

  33. Infomeplease Says:

If you keep Jameis from passing, he won’t throw interceptions. Sean Payton wouldn’t allow Jameis to be a passing qb last year..

  34. Aaron Says:

But we still beat y’all even with y’all taking him out right then beat y’all without Sean Payton like say everyone’s gonna remember it even Sean when him and Shady brady team up in Miami

  35. Oneilbuc Says:

    JA . Lol 😆 🤣 you ain’t lieing bro 🤣..

  36. Aaron Says:

I’ll see y’all at the tailgate party before the game hope for y’all it’s not Shady brady last game before moving on lol after this season lol

  37. Craig Says:

Without Kamara Jameis will dig himself a hole. He will have to dig out of that before going anywhere.

The reason he got dumped here is that he looked like he had improved, for a while. Then he backslid into his old self.

The Bucs were 7-7 with two easy games to reach the playoffs. They ended 7-9 because of Jameis.

I can’t wait until the regular season kills of all of this B.S.

  38. SOEbuc Says:

It has been sealed that you cannot play the Father Time card with Brady until it shows itself. Bucs still have their super bowl coaching staff compared to a first year team without Sean Payton, who had a much larger all around role as HC than BA. Says “Tom Brady’s gonna be great because he’s Tom Brady” and “he has so many weapons” and saying Jameis will roll somebody. A thing that has never been seen with Brady’s original weapons, not to mention he has Gage, Julio, and Rudolph to the offensive side.

  39. fern Says:

Kamara will be suspended for sure
This jag off always bashing the Bucs
Winston coming of injury, its not gonna be easy for them

  40. Allbuccedup Says:

O-line ? Bowles ? Brady ok. Brady probably throw for 6000 yards because we will be playing from behind a lot. Defensive backfield still bucs achilles heel.

  41. Buc king Says:

Dude can eat a fat richard…
America bounty team is trash and we will beat them bad both times.

  42. Defense Rules Says:

Aaron … Jameis did get better in terms of throwing fewer INTs last year (and that’s a plus), but he was definitely being used more in a ‘game manager’ role. That’s very much unlike the Jameis we came to know all too well as a Buc.

Jameis played in about 6.5 games last year before he got hurt. He threw only 161 passes (roughly 25 per game), and completed 95 of those (59.0% completion rate … compared to his lifetime 61.2% rate). Of course his receivers did leave a little to be desired, but still, that’s Jameis being Jameis. And he does have better receivers this year.

What impressed me though is that he threw 14 TDs in those 6.5 games, roughly 2 TDs per game. That’s not that shabby actually, particularly combined with the fact that he only threw 3 INTs last season. Interestingly he ran quite a bit more than he ever did as a Buc, gaining 166 yds on 32 runs, a 5.2 YPC average that led to 17 first downs. That’s roughly 5 runs, 25 yds & 2 first downs per game, or 435 rushing yds per season. That’s something to be wary of from Jameis IMO.

  43. Stone crab sam Says:

Lest we forget; the saints starter is the automatic turnover machine.

  44. Buczilla Says:

The Alfred E. Neuman clone is wrong.

  45. NeverGIVEup Says:

How did the Saints do in the playoffs the last two years? Or EVER for that matter.

  46. Smashsquatch Says:

Winston, sans Payton, over Brady? Care to wager on that Mr Schein?

  47. Rod Munch Says:

I wouldn’t pick the Saints over the Bucs, but I do think the Saints are a threat. Winston was having an excellent year last year when he was hurt, was tied for QBR with Brady at the time, and his WRs were complete trash. This year, he’ll have legit NFL talent to throw to. Also, with all the talk about ‘cap-hell’ they really haven’t had to do a huge roster turnover, they’ve mostly keep the team in tact.

Payton’s retirement will catch up with them, but probably not this year since the coaches and schemes are mostly the same.

I think they’re going to be a 10 or 11 win team, and the Bucs will be an 11 or 12 win team, so I suspect it will be close, and the Saints sweep the Bucs again, then they will win the South.

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Defense Rules – As you pointed out, Winston’s WR’s last year were atrocious, and this year, with Mr 5-yard Slant back, and getting Landry, and the 1st round rookie, they should have some quality NFL WRs. The competition percentage means nothing when you’re throwing to guys who literally can’t get open. I think his top target was their garbage TE, who would be like a 4th stringer on the Bucs last year.

But Payton, unlike Arians, unlike Dirk, told Winston the #1 thing he couldn’t do is turn over the ball, that the Saints actually had a good defense that could win the game for them if need be, and that’s what Winston did. He held onto the ball, he threw the ball away, he made safe passes — exactly the same thing he did for the Bucs during their win streak at the end of the ’16 season when the defense was actually playing well for a few games.

Also Winston would always run fairly well, just think back to that amazing run vs the Falcons where he juked some guys, then carried others to get a last first down to win that game. Winston is a big guy and teams have always had a hard time wrapping him up, think of how many sacks he escaped by having an uncanny ability to duck when he was about to be hit from behind. That also lead to some issues because he’d make an amazing move to escape a sack and then try to force the ball — think Jacksonville preseason game.

One hope for those who want Winston to fail is that the new head coach has said he plans on opening up the offense and using more of a downfield passing game. Certainly Winston can do that, but with that, will come more turnovers. And every time Winston throws an INT, his fault or not, every dipspit on social media is going to be posting and pretending it’s the worst INT ever thrown. That pressure can get to a weak new head coach.

  49. Tye Says:

the Saints took a significant downgrade at HC and qb, Kamara likely suspended, Top WR injury prone… I like they Bucs chances….

  50. ModHairKen Says:

Schein is an idiot. New Orleans: New coach. Damaged QB, mentally and physically. Suspended RB. Damages WR, mentally and physically. And an inconsistent and aging Defense.

  51. 99 55 47 20 Says:

    What a clown lol

  52. BelleGladeBuc Says:

Saints fans are funny bragging about how they beat us last year.

    The regular season is irrelevant.

The only thing that matters is making the playoffs.

The regular season don’t mean a thing if you can’t play for the ring.

The Saints last year were in the bottom half of the league, failing to make the playoffs.

The Bucs were more successful last season than the Saints as they played in the playoffs while the Saints watched from home, thus proving how meaningless this Saints regular season victories over the Bucs were.

  53. chark Says:

I hope we come out with an extra edginess when we play the saints. We need to be as physical as possible. They play to and past the whistle against us. Dont like the saints and many of their fans are jerks

  54. Lordy Says:

Why is this clown bringing up Kamara, he’s literally gonna probably be suspended for 6-8 games.

  55. David Says:

Saints D is still good but it’s amazing how many people forget the Saints have a new head coach (having lost a HOFer) and a turnover machine coming off injury at QB. Yes, I know his turnovers were down last year but that’s because Sean Payton had a straight jacket on him.

  56. Chris f Says:

I see tom Brady throwing another game winning pick 6 to the saint who DAT,we not scared of tom Brady see y’all soon 🤣

  57. G in MAxxa Says:

America’s Quarterback ? They will be lucky if he is 8 and 8 unless he gets hurt in the first game!

  58. BelleGladeBuc Says:

Saints fans are funny when they talk about TB12 being injured.

Let’s review the Saints recent QB health vs TB12:

Jameis Winston’s knee was snapped by Devin White throwing him like he was a rag doll and ending his season.

Hill was injured and unable to play a full season at QB.

Drew Bree’s arm was injured and he was a shell of himself.

TB12 the past two seasons has played in every game for the Bucs, leading us to a Super Bowl Championship.

The Saints QB’s can’t stay healthy.

    TB12 is doing just fine.

  59. Aaron Says:

Didn’t look fine at home like said with that new coach that shutout him 9-0 remember it I do I was there know he was lol it’s on his record

  60. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Aaron

Your Saints were in the bottom half of the league.

    They didn’t make the playoffs.

You sound like Phil Mickelson bragging that he beat Tiger at two regular PGA tournaments, but then not talking about how Phil missed the cut at the Masters while Tiger made the cut and won the Green jacket.

Nobody cares about regular tournaments. Major’s/playoffs only matter.

Hey @Aaron, the Saints beating the Bucs in the regular season is meaningless, the Bucs proved that 2 years in a row.

2020 the Saints beat the Bucs twice in the regular season, but TB12 and the Bucs defeated the Saints in the playoffs on their way to becoming Super Bowl Champions.

2021 the Saints beat the twice during the regular season on the way to a losing season of 7-9 where they missed the playoffs.

The Bucs, despite those 2 losses to the Saints, went to the playoffs both seasons, winning the Super Bowl in one of those two Playoff runs.

    Those are just the facts.
