Bucs Could Be A Wild Card

August 25th, 2022

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

There is a lot of slimy Saints love going around national NFL circles these days and it seems one NFL analyst for NBC Sports Edge is believing the hype.

Some are on the slimy Saints’ train because they believe them to be a more complete team — more additions than subtractions than Tampa Bay. But it seems Drew Dinsick is not so much a believer in the slimy Saints than he is bearish on the Bucs.

Dinsick, appearing on “A Numbers Game,” seen exclusively on VSiN, told host Gil Alexander that he is spooked by the rash of Bucs injuries on the offensive line and at receiver.

The Bucs will eventually get healthy enough to win games and make a wild card, Dinsick believes, but the Bucs won’t be healthy enough to manage the first few weeks of the season (games against Dallas, New Orleans, Green Bay and Kansas City). He thinks that could doom them hopes of repeating as NFC South champs.

Joe has said all along that the first four weeks of the season are brutal. And the rest of the season isn’t a cakewalk when they have to play Los Angeles, San Francisco, Arizona and Cincinnati, too.

No, Dinsick isn’t a huge believer in the Bucs. But he seems to think there is a much better chance of the Rams or the Packers imploding and missing the playoffs.

You can see and hear Dinsick’s analysis in the VSiN video below.

Jameis best year was 9-7, he has proven nothing so far in his NFL career.

And for anyone who thinks I am a Jameis hater, sorry I am not, I have been a Fl State fan since 1979. I hope Jameis does well in the NFL, just not against the Bucs.

    Brady’s Bucs > Jameis’s Saints

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  2. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

I’ve never heard of this guy. What sort of expertise does he have?

  3. SOEbuc Says:

    11+ easy. Defense wins championships.

  4. HC Grover Says:

It is going to depend on El Blundo and injury to key players. From what I have seen here and watching the game last Sunday the camp appears sub par and less than organized. The Dallas game will tell.

  5. Defense Rules Says:

SOEbuc … I’ll gladly settle for 11 wins this year; personally think that’ll win the NFC South. That (or a wild card slot) will get us into the playoffs where ‘anything can happen’ BUT … there are some real beasts over in the AFC & we’d have to get past the best one to win the Super Bowl. But to even get THAT opportunity, we’d have to get past some danged good NFC teams making the playoffs.

Bucs have enough starting talent to run the table IMO. Problem is … keeping them healthy. Given the injury histories of a lot of our starters, that’s a tall order. Thus this constant plea for improving the quality of our DEPTH across the board.

  6. steele Says:

P-p-playoffs? Playoffs? Be happy when they win a game. Unless last year’s top playoff teams all regress, the Bucs in their current state look like a 6-10.

  7. Beeej Says:

Saints always win the line of scrimmage against us

  8. 2022 Year of the GOAT RETURN Says:

winsnot will win you 8 games and lose you 8 games …. he is very good at that… our coaches have to beat there coaches game plan …. not that complicated….

  9. FrontFour Says:

Saints are always more physical and we get out coached. They play to injure guys.

  10. Biff Barker Says:

BA couldn’t beat the Saints or Rams.

Neither can Bowles, Brady or Leftwich.

OK we beat the Saints one playoff game, (as a wild card) because Brees arm was done.

Nothing new expected for this season. Bucs are just not tough enough.

  11. Bird Says:

Is that “The Dude” on the right ? 😂

  12. George Says:

We need to repair the offensive line. Otherwise we will be lucky tonwinn6 games

  13. Bird Says:

Saints are loaded and agree w frontfour. They are way more physical then us. Seems like we play scared against them. Oh and pretty sure jameis gave them our playbook 😂 cause they own us in scheming on offense and defense

But this year is the year!

All comes down to the trenches for offense and defense

  14. Biff Barker Says:

Bucs are simply not a tough enough team.

The 2020 Lombardi came because Brees arm died and KC had a JUCO patchwork OL. As much luck than anything else. Last team standing.

We were completely embarrassed by the Rams again last season.

So, what’s new this year? Our revamped OL? Substandard secondary?

  15. DG060 Says:

That’s why they play the games on the field and not on paper.

  16. Tvan101 Says:

Sean Payton is gone and Winston is coming back from injury, the Saints have as good a chance imploding as anyone.

  17. lambeau Says:

Baloney. The Bucs will start by beating the Cowboys and Saints, winning 11 or 12.

  18. NCBucfan Says:

Hopefully Kieft will be our great equalizer in the run game! I want to see him body some Lbs!

  19. Joshua porter Says:

Crazy that people would believe in a qb that has really never done anything and keep doubting brady even though all he has done in 22 Yeats is win ….. f@%# the saints

  20. NCBucfan Says:

I cant even remember the last time we beat the Stupid Saints at home. I want to say 2016, just embarrassing!!

  21. Nicky666 Says:

Bucs with a healthy Brady win 11+ easy

  22. BucsNoles Says:

BULLSpit – Until the saints actually prove something, they can be beat.
You never know how JW will play and Payton is gone.
    We shall see. . .

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Saints play well against us but always seem to struggle against some other weak teams…..not worried.

  24. Buc4evr Says:

Every year is a new year so I am not willing to concede toughness to the Saints, especially now that we have Hicks. I think we have the players on defense to finally beat the Saints. The other issue with the Bucs was that they always got fooled by trick plays cooked up by Payton.

  25. Ausgust 1976 Buc Says:

Biff….”Bucs are simply not a tough enough team.

The 2020 Lombardi came because Brees arm died and KC had a JUCO patchwork OL. As much luck than anything else. Last team standing”.

There is a Lombardi at 1 Buc Palace now from 2020. Like it or not.
There are 31 other teams that were playing for the same Lombardi, but the Bucs won.
So what you are seem to be saying is the other 31 teams, they are just a bunch of crap right. No, the Bucs went out and actually played and won. Sorry if you do not like that.

And the Saints were one of them. BTW the Bucs beat the Saints, the Saints had no weak armed defense, they were the same defense that embarrassed the Bucs earlier in the year. No the Bucs took it to them and won.

So when it mattered most, the Saints wilted, not the Bucs.

Why disparage a team for winning a championship?

How can you say not tough enough? The Bucs have been the best and top ten in Run defense since 2019, that is because of winning the line of scrimmage. The exact opposite of not tough enough. You just sound like some who is not happy for whatever reason, I do not know.
Again the idea is to win a championship, and the Bucs did that in 2020, why is that something to be negative about? 31 other teams were called losers. 2nd place is the first loser.
Seems when they hoisted the Lombardi, it was not something to denigrate. BTW whether you like it or not, the Bucs are actually contenders again, I have no idea what will happen in Feb 2023, but I am going to enjoy the ride.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Maniac Buc Says:

Saints are a really good team. They will compete with the Bucs all year long. The receiving corps is almost as good as ours 1-4, and their 5th and 6th receivers, Marquez Calloway and Tra’Quan Smith, are by far better than all of Darden, Johnson, Grayson, Perriman, Thompkins etc. That’s why I laughed when people said Miller to the Saints. Miller would get way more PT in Tampa than NO. There is not a chance he cracks their 53. Their defense is always tough. I don’t usually do the “cheer for the former Bucs” once they leave the team, but I been a Jamies fan since he was in high school, so I hope he does well, as he did at the start of last year. I could see the Saints win anywhere from 10-15 games. But they’re definitely right there with us.

  27. Maniac Buc Says:

@Joshua Porter, do you live in play play land? I don’t think there is a soul on Earth who feels that way…

  28. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I can not imagine us NOT winning the NFC Championship, even with our tough schedule.

  29. Hodad Says:

The past is the past. We are not the same team we were last year, neither are the Saints. Same for every team in the league. No team is three deep at every position, every team has lost good players, but has added good players. All I know is I’ll put my money on a team QBed by Tom Brady, over Jameis Winston every year no matter what other players are playing.

  30. Bojim Says:

As long as they make the playoffs.

  31. PassingThru Says:

I am concerned that this team will have a rough start this season. The Bucs have a leaky, inexperienced O Line with some of its best WRs compromised. Even if Licht upgrades the O Line at this point, they won’t have much time to become a cohesive unit during that opening stretch.

  32. #8 Says:

Seems like Tampa does just fine from the wild card last I checked?
Jesus actual games cannot start suhn enough.
See what I did there??!! I’ll be here all day.

  33. Carl Johnson Says:

The slimy Saints are putting their money on Winston.
    Bad bet!

  34. Killian Says:

Did these people forget Payton retired? I will be impressed if the Saints have a winning record at the end of the season.

  35. adam from ny Says:

saints could be breathing down our azz come december, but things will really have to go haywire for them to unseat us and grab the division title…

yeah they could win 10 or maybe 11 games…

we should win about 12…maybe even 13 games…

and they should win about 10…

carolina could surprise people and go about 8-9 while atlanta should pull up the rear with like a 4 win season…atlanta is gonna be bad bad bad

  36. Pewter Warrior 813 Says:

    Aints have question marks at

QB-Can Jameis not turn it over and just be a caretaker of the offense like he was in his games last year?

Playcaller-How good can their offense be without Payton calling the plays?

Head Coach-Dennis Allen has 8 career wins at Head Coach, how good can he be while calling plays on defense?

New starters, they have new starters at both Safety spots, LT, and WR 2. How quickly will their new starters gel with their existing roster?

Pundits and fans forget outside of playing the Bucs their defense gets destroyed by good offenses. Their tough schedule has plenty of high powered offenses they have to face.

I see them at best a 9 or 10 win team

  37. View from 132 Says:

Gotta love preseason banter. None of us have any idea how this will shake out. None of us said Bucs over Chiefs in a blowout OR Rams over… Bengals?

Personally I miss the NFC Central. The rival fans were more fun and the teams had more tradition. But I would be happy to see the Saints implode. New Orleans is a disgusting swamp that happens to have good restaurants.

  38. Tye Says:

REALLY!… Because everything I’ve seen to do with predictions has the Saints finishing in the bottom 3rd of the league…

  39. Lesko_Brandon Says:

I’m not worried. In Brady I Trust. He’s been there than that. pfffftt. GOBUCS !!!

  40. PSL Bob Says:

Agree with others. The analysis might be correct if someone other than Brady were at the helm. Yes, we have suffered some injuries on the o-line, but this team has tons of talent on both sides of the ball. If we don’t win the division, either Brady is hurt or something is terribly wrong with Leftwich and/or Bowles.

  41. Craig Says:

Naw, 13-4 and home field advantage through the Playoffs. That what SI says.

Saints are gonna end up with a normal Jameis year, he will let them down with a chance for the post-season thrown away like another pick-6.

  42. Anonymous Says:

what’s the worst record they could have and still make the playoffs, with the NFC being what it is?

  43. Oneilbuc Says:

Cragi. I believe that’s what Brady did last year the first game against the saints. He threw a pick 6 to lose the game in fact I think the whole week yall were saying that before the game and Brady end up being the one who done everything yall said Jameis was going to do. My point is let’s just wait until the game before we start talking nosie about a team who beat us 7 out of 8 times. I hope we win to but I rather wait and see .
