Predicting Bucs’ 2022 MVP Is Too Predictable

July 1st, 2022

Too easy.

When you go down the roster of Bucs starterss, it’s sort of fun to try to find a player who, if he plays well, would mean the difference between a wild card appearance and a Super Bowl win.

As Adam Rank of NFL.com points out, Tom Brady needs to be the Bucs’ MVP. It’s a no-brainer.

If you disagree, Rank suggests you take your mind back to February and March. How did you feel about Brady retiring? How did you feel about Brady returning?

Projected 2022 MVP: Brady. Look, I pride myself on choosing players other than the starting quarterback for this spot. But how did your feelings about the Buccaneers change once Brady came out of retirement? The Bucs were just another mid-card team without him, but now they’re back in main event status. And honestly, they should now be considered the Super Bowl favorites. The Bucs are 24-9 in two seasons with Brady. They are 5-1 in the playoffs. Those five playoff wins are huge, considering Tampa Bay had not won a single playoff game since Super Bowl XXXVII.

Rank hits the nail on the head: The Bucs were largely irrelevant with only one player who moved the needle at all. But he was replaced, replaced by a guy who single-handedly turned around this woebegone franchise into a Super Bowl winner in less than a year.

Who is this mystery man? Tom Brady, of course!

Joe is willing to say Brady by far is the most important player to suit up for the Bucs since Derrick Brooks patrolled the field on defense.

TB12 is our MVP in perpetuity

  2. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Harry would say “… Brady is by far is the most important player to suit up for the Bucs since… forever. MVP of the Bucs for all time, imo.

Can the section of Dale Mabry that runs near the stadium be renamed Tom Brady Hwy? Need to do that for sure.

  4. Joe in Michigan Says:

The likelihood of this happening is the same as Darden falling down.

  5. Eddie Marz Says:

Bucs better watch out for the Saints. Even without Kamara they can be trouble. Would be nice to beat them TWICE this year. GOBUCS!

It is predictable, and as such, a waste of an article.

  7. Show Me the TDs Says:

Sapp was more of a difference maker than Brooks. More difficult to scheme around while he was blowing up the middle and the QB was running in terror.

  8. David Says:

Sap? You realize they’re talking current roster for this upcoming year?

  9. David Says:

I expect 32 points a game minimum so yes, Brady is probably the MVP but… It would be awesome if Shaq blew up for 15+ sacks, dominates consistently, and gets that MVP crown. If that happens, SB bound
