Learning From Julio Jones

July 30th, 2022

Student of the game.

Joe spoke with a couple of Bucs veterans on offense and asked them about the signings of former Pro Bowlers Julio Jones and Kyle Rudolph.

Joe will have more on this in the very near future. But after saying they were stoked to have such high-end talent coming to Tampa to help them win a Super Bowl, they talked about being eager to pick their brains, and neither is any danger of losing his job.

Well, you can add Mike Evans to the list. He said yesterday that his Julio learning already started.

“I learn from all the guys – every year I pick up something new, as well as the other guys,” Evans said. “We all learn from each other and that’s been great – Julio is teaching me stuff, Chris [Godwin] is always talking to me and we are always learning from each other. It’s great to have that and I get wait to see what we do this year.”

Joe is very impressed. You think someone like furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing, V-card-forging quitter Antonio Brown would say he learns from others? Pppfffttt!

Guys like Evans, smart guys, know the game is always changing and evolving. If you aren’t learning, you are failing. To Joe, that demonstrates smarts and character. And that pretty much sums up Evans.

Whats great is bowles singling out gage out of the receivers. “Havent been able to stop him”. Now its underwear but its not like gage is a rook and has not proven his worth in nfl. “Fluid and catches everything”

What i am getting at. And of course all will need to stay healthy. That is big question mark with julio although he does not need to play all 17

But when you have two dominant receivers in evans and godwin. Then you have julio and gage going up against the 3rd and 4th best corners on a defense most likely without a safety focusing on them. Look out. Good luck trying to stop the 4 headed monster. And then we still have guys behind them that can add value. Those next 2 or 3 spots behind the big 4 better work on their special teams. 😂

Man i hope we can make it to season without any More injuries . Jensen is one of my favorite players cause he just fooks with dlineman all game and gets in their heads. Physical / nasty enforcer. Dude is a black belt for many years so could back it up as well (no phony)

NOT if but when ME13 gets into the HOF , I will be front and center . I live 10 blocks from it now as I grew up in st.pete area and moved here years ago . My son was born up here , yet I have converted him & others to die hard bucs fans . If Ronde gets in , my son won’t know who he is other than what I tell of him but he damn sure knows what Mike brings . That’s one player as a bucs fan you don’t miss getting in and my son will remember that forever . For me personally , my fav offensive buc all time is big Ole #40 & me13

I think we should all be proud to have guys like Evans and Godwin as fixtures on this Bucs team.

We will probably only keep 7 WRs.

Evans, Godwin, Gage, Jones, Perriman……and I would only guess…..Johnson & Miller.
So….we will send Grayson & Darden to the PS along with Thompkins.

Scotty could pick up the punt return job….and several players could take on kick returns.

I love that attitude. That’s the way to be in every job. When I was a paramedic, I always picked the brains of other paramedics, even the ones I was training.

The wise man knows he knows nothing at all

That’s exactly how I see it. Grayson and Miller seem to be the same guy, so I would imagine Miller has the edge, especially since he added some weight and if he can show that he can run more than one route successfully.
The good news is, Grayson and Darden should stick around on the practice squad and not be taken by another team. I don’t think either one has shown enough for that. Inevitably one or both will be needed

I’m wearing my new ME13 jersey (red) right now.

Mike Evans is a great man.

Scooter might not even make this team. Even tho he’s put on some weight, I’ve heard he doesn’t look as sharp as our other non-starters

Agree about AB… BUT- by all accounts he was a tremendous teammate at practices and did teach stuff to the other guys. But I agree he would not say he was learning from others. Not really a humble guy lol
