“I’d Get In Fights Daily”

Rookie guard Luke Goedeke

The Bucs’ rookie left guard loves to talk about how much he loves mauling opponents.

Luke Goedeke referred to himself as a “glass-eater” at his opening news conference after the Bucs grabbed him late in the second round.

It’s just who he is and he flies that flag with pride.

“All throughout my childhood, I was always an aggressive kid,” Goedeke said pn WDAE Radio today. “I mean, going up through elementary and middle school, I mean I hate to say it but I’d get in fights daily with kids. I’d be the kid on the playground, we’d be playing football on the concrete, I’d be tackling kids and stuff like that.”

Yeah, there was always one kid who liked to tackle on concrete during a touch football game. Joe guesses Goedeke is one of those dudes. Joe knew a guy like that once; he gave Joe a rude introduction to a fire hydrant after Joe cought a short out route on the street.

It’s going to be a fun first week of training camp as Goedeke figures out how hard he’s allowed to hit defensive lineman without ending up in a fight. Goedeke against 6-4, 345 pound Akiem Hicks should be fun.

On the football front, Goedeke said he believes he’s transitioning very well from college right tackle to NFL left guard.

Let the left guard competition begin!

I love this pick….good job Mr. Licht and scouts!!!

  2. GOB Says:

Nice, a real nasty SOB. I hope they mash lighter fronts in the run game. GOB was known to play a little concrete football from time to time, it was called astroturf.

  3. HC Grover Says:

He better clam up. His new opponents are going to be bigger, stronger and faster.

  4. DoooshLaRue Says:

Don’t let Durable Donnie rub off on you kid……

Really fired up for this draft class. During the draft so many people were disappointed with some things but man it looks like it’s going to pan out. I know it’s way too early & we have to see where it stands 2 to 3 years from now but love the attitude of some of these guys.

On another note, but to do with O lineman, what’s the story with Hainsey? I have some high hopes for him as well but I have not heard anything about him this off-season

  7. Chris Tucker@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

IMHO, Licht and Spytek outdid themselves, in this draft.

  8. Buc4evr Says:

He talks the talk but does he walk the walk? Stay tuned as this Rookie could blow up.

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Over aggressive offensive linemen lead to high penalties.

  10. Buczilla Says:

If Vita and Hicks are talking this kid up during camp I’ll be happy.

  11. FrontFour Says:

Let’s see how he does when the pads come on and Vita Vea is line up in front of him.

It’s going to be fun watching him alongside a fellow glass eater the mean red head at Center. Lombardi Lennie must be smiling as well as TB12.

  13. Kody Says:

    Sup with Suh?

  14. AtticusFlinch Says:

Bucs will reveal a commitment to the play-action set up by an aggressive 1-2 back running scheme with pulling guard/TE motion behind Wirfs, Shaq Mason. This has been want Brady has wanted since 2020 and has finally gotten. The GOAT is done playing two dimensionally and just paying lip service to a token running game. Brady will finally be able to freeze LBs and keep DBs worried about the run which, in turn, will create more receiver separation and opportunities for downfield strikes.

Remember, it was Todd Bowles who slipped with the word “fullback” when talking about Rashaad White after the draft. Also, Gronk will ready and starting in Game 1.

Suh??? Nothing. They signed Hicks. Suh was done anyway. He progressively got worse against the run and had absolutely no pass rush other than two games last year. Really liked the guy but get over him, he’s gone

  16. SOEbuc Says:

I hope so. But I hope he’s not trying to do stupid things to impress Jensen with all his rowdy PF. If he wins the battle you know he’s pretty friggin good. Can’t wait.

  17. SOEbuc Says:

AtticusFlinch…Awesome name lol. I also believe that’s the set up. Brady probably get 5,100+ yards with a more bases run game, but hey, anything is possible with that man.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

*Brady probably not get 5,100+ yards with more basis on the run game and PA.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Yawn, let’s see what you got against the big boys.
