Cyril Grayson Appears Ready To Rock

Strong first practice.
Bucs receivers were showing off today to open 2022 Bucs training camp.
Now to be fair, it was underwear football, and will be for the first week of practice. The first practice with pads is expected to be Aug. 1.
Still, the receivers were rocking and it didn’t matter who. Breshad Perriman had a monster catch on a bomb from Tom Brady. Devin Thompkins made a nice toe-tap catch along the right sideline. Mike Evans was Mike Evans when he had a sweet grab along the left sideline.
But it was the immortal Cyril Grayson who made two crazy catches this morning: one from Tom Brady over the middle and the best came from Blaine Gabbert.
With the Bucs’ No. 2 quarterback on the field for 11-on-11s in red zone work, Gabbert went back to pass and saw Grayson getting a step on Zyon McCollum. That’s no shame given that Grayson was once a track star.
Gabbert then used that baseball pitcher windup of his (channeling offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich?) and lofted a pass to Grayson that seemed to drop in his basket. But the basket was missing a handle. Grayson reached out with his right hand and hauled the ball in all in one motion.
Grayson never broke stride as he caught the ball as he was crossing the goal line along the right sideline.
When Joe spoke with Grayson after practice, he tried to wave off the impressive catch.
“I don’t remember if it was one-hand or two,” Grayson said. “It was [Gabbert] trusting me with [Zyon McCollum] kind of being close.
“Yeah, it was a good spot. Great spot. Perfect ball.”
And a perfect catch.
Earlier in practice, Grayson was running what seemed like a crossing route from the right side. With a taller defensive back all over him, Brady led Grayson enough to allow Grayson to sky for the ball while screening the defender away from the ball.
Grayson picked that apple off the tree, turned upfield and was gone.
Joe isn’t sure what you can tell about a receiver in underwear football. Some ball out but vanish when the pads come on (hello Tommy Streeter and Kenny Bell). But at least today, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of Bucs fans to start training camp, the receivers were ready.

Julio may not even see a ball. Maybe they convert him to receiving TE.

Grayson is ready to contribute and showed really well last season when he had the opportunity.

Grayson didn’t disappear he was injured in the playoffs same with perriman. Forgotten due to the way brown exited

It’s Deven Thompkins (no “i” in the first name).
I think what will help make a WR stand out is being a kick returner on Special Teams. That’s where Deven Thompkins might excel and grab a roster spot.

Grayson with Brady is my number four. Sorry Scotty fans but he is far less versatile and can make plays all over. Keep Julio as fresh as possible by making him a rotational red zone receiver.

Yeah I’m confused unless Miller wins the kick returner job, what happens.
Some other team is gonna pick up whoever we release for sure.
Perriman making plays is the kicker.
1st rounder who has NEVER lived up to that billing, even though he has flashed.
If Deven Thompkins makes this team as a kick returner, or even Darden, Miller is gone.
Tyler Johnson is gone.
3 Spots for 10 receivers.
My guess is Perriman, Grayson and Miller and Miller wins the return duty.
His agent had to have prepped him for this. Over the middle routes and Returner Role? Better put on 15 pounds.
