Rob Gronkowski’s Best Fit

June 3rd, 2022

Where should Rob Gronkowski play?

This time of year, there are many roster surprises. For example, did anyone expect Akiem Hicks or Keanu Neal to be with the Bucs two months ago?

There are still decent free agents out there. Joe isn’t sure if the Bucs are shopping or even have cash to buy. But who knows?

Matt Bowen of BSPN is looking at the current crop of free agents and trying to find their best fit. When it comes to foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski, Bowen said if Gronk doesn’t retire, he’d be smart to stay with the Bucs.

… … He is not a dominant force as a run-blocker at this stage of his career, but he can still stretch the seams and work the crossers. And Gronkowski would continue to see pass-game volume in Byron Leftwich’s system.

Thankfully, Gronk already has said if he does return to play one more year, it will Tampa Bay or nobody. So Joe will hold him at his word there.

As for Gronk not being a top-shelf blocker, that’s the first Joe has heard of that. Joe is sure Gronk isn’t what he once was — who is? — but Gronk is certainly the best blocking tight end on the roster (not counting rookie Ko Kieft?).

Just about everything that comes from msespn is just plain ignorant.

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

That line about Gronks diminished ability to run block started with Greg Rosenthal. It was a part of his description of Gronk as player before free agency began. I didn’t see it before then but now have seen it repeated by others.

  3. Kentucky Buc Says:

Did we all get transported to bizzaro world. Gronk can’t block and Lenny can’t catch. Lol. Don’t forget Brady can’t throw deep. If any of us did our job as poorly as some of these so called writers we’d be in the bread line. BSPN guys are getting close to weatherman territory on accuracy.

By the look of all these pictures Joe is posting of Gronk highlighting Camille, it appears Gronk is spending extra time stretching his groin preseason.

No doubt. His “best fit” is standing right next to him . Hello 😂

These reports on gronks blocking being down are laughable. So for tight ends blocking he was a 9.5 out of 10 for most of career. So now he is a what 9 out of 10

  6. Goatfarmer Says:

The morons obviously just parrot narratives they’ve heard from others. Gronk can block, baby.

  7. Razor Ramone Says:

He likes to block and takes pride in the fact that he excels at it. Unlike these sh!tty writers he’s good at his job.

Not a force run blocking? He’s been fantastic at pass blocking and run blocking.

  12. Bobby Buc Says:

how about more articles about his girlfriend, joe?

  13. Browsing from DC Says:

All I have to say to that is name a better blocking tight end in the league right now. And can any other “blocking tight end” catch the ball? Can they drag a defender (or 2) another 10 yards or more down field after contact? There are great receiving TEs in the league, but I’ll take Gronk’s total package even if he’s a little slower and banged up.

Gronk and Tom know each well on the field. It’s something like ESP. It matters a lot in the tough games, the big games. Two TD grabs in the last SB!
