The freed up dollars need to be spent on LD54’s backup when he’s injured or needs a break.

A fast tackling machine ILB, stat Mr. Licht

  2. SB~LV Says:

    Of course!

  3. Drebucsfan Says:

Gronk is no doubt the GOAT TE but cam brate is more than serviceable and may have a carrier high season in stats. I see us bringing in a former PATRIOT vet TE i believe it’s one available thy has Report with Brady

  4. Anonymous Says:

Disappointment with gronkowski. I hope they get another weapon.

  5. Dick LeBeau Jr. Says:

One many does not make a team. Can be a big part of that team, but Gronk is not propping up the Bucs. Brady is more than capable of getting the ball into the hands of the guys we have on the team right now. I’m not worried and I didn’t believe Gronk was coming back anyway. We’re good.

  6. PassingThru Says:

Sure they can, but the Bucs will need to trade for a productive, vet TE.

  7. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

Gronk will come back in 39 days and break Brady´s record for the shortest period of retirement of all times in the NFL.

  8. Dreambig Says:

The bigger question is can they win a Super Bowl with Todd Bowles. With a head coach winning percentage of ~38%, that is a much bigger hill to climb than replacing Gronk.

  9. PassingThru Says:

    @Dick

“Guys on the team right now” is a fairly bare cupboard.

    Last season:
    WR1A: Godwin
    WR1B: Evans
    WR1C: Brown
    TE1: Gronk

    Opening Day, this season:
    WR1: Evans
    WR2: vacant
    WR3: Gage (aspiring to become a WR2)
    TE1: vacant

  10. Tim Says:

They gave that date because Gronk wants to see if we’re gonna make the playoffs before committing to coming back. I don’t like it. Sets a bad precedent. Thank you for your services, enjoy your retirement.

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Doesn’t matter. Bowles will get a sb this year…or rack up a ton of wins.

    It’s all about Brady.

That said, I don’t think we need a veteran TE. We can find a rookie. Brady will make him great.

Use the saved money on Suh.

  12. Craig Says:

With Brate, Otton, and Kief we will have a good TE group. With all three of them they can do just about all Gronk could do this season, and not be double, or triple, teamed.

    The team will be fine.

  13. Vance Says:

    Joe!
Next article better be a list of best fitting available FAs.

  14. steele Says:

I was sounding the alarm months ago. It’s too late in free agency to find anyone really good.

Who’s left at TE? TEs who can’t block. Eric Ebron, Kyle Rudolph, Jared Cook. After that, pure backup types. A sad list, but they have to make a move, or a trade at some point.

Pray that Cam Brate becomes 3 times the player he has been, and a sudden breakout pro bowler. That’s what it will take.

  15. Vance Says:

Brate, before Brady/Gronk was a reliable TE in the pass game. Without a star QB. It really doesn’t matter. Brady has got to be at his best if this team has a chance this year. Fingers crossed 🤞 he has he’s best season of his career and our defense can stand the F up!

  16. PassingThru Says:

Brate has slowed down, take a look at the tape.

Let’s be realistic and not delve into fantasy. This team needs a productive, vet TE. They were already thin at slot options, and Gronk’s retirement means that they’ll become more predictable, be it running or passing plays.

  17. MadMax Says:

Gronk’s freakish physical build and speed made him a great blocker too. I just hope the guys we drafted can also block well (at the nfl level).
