Logan Ryan Calls Out Defensive Brilliance

June 2nd, 2022

Revered.

A lot of Bucs fans don’t realize what a big Aqib Talib fan Tom Brady was during his days with the Belicheats.

Simply stated: Brady loved Talib’s passion for the game and his strong football IQ, in addition to Talib’s willingness to challenge Brady physically and verbally.

Joe was reminded of this listening to new Bucs cornerback/safety Logan Ryan yesterday during his visit to The Jim Rome Show on CBS Sports Radio.

Ryan, who is known for his smarts and fierce hunger to study the game, told Rome that Brady and Talib were the top two teammates he most looked up to in the NFL.

“Aqib Talib, I’m not surprised that he is commentating and you’ll hear a lot more from Aqib Talib. He’s probably the smartest defensive player I’ve ever played with,” Ryan said of the Bucs’ 2008 first-round pick. “Just so instinctual, has size, can cover every type of receiver, knows spatial awareness, can play man and off coverage.”

Ryan also added cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Devin McCourty to his list and said all four were great leaders because they were eager and complete open books when it came to sharing the secrets of their craft.

With the Bucs, Ryan said he’s emulating that and giving his new teammates whatever he can to make them better.

Talib was a great one. Hope Ryan echoes him.

Ryan is a very smart player……has the type of experience we needed to add to our secondary….I’m quite sure he will make a difference……Fans may say (this year) what happened to our pass defense….in a very good way.

  3. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

Aqib is a really cool dude. I know he was a little immature when he was here, and had some stuff. But he was fun as hell to watch play CB.

He has really turned into a helluva cool guy, and a good analyst to listen to.

Keeping a winning culture requires drafting and FA signing the right guys.

Notice the Licht mindset finding is guys with high character, high football IQ and wanting to win badly.

    Think Marpett vs AB.

  5. MadMax Says:

We did great with signing him…cant wait to see him play!

Talib became my Hero, when he smacked that rude Cab Driver up side the head!
I flew from Detroit Metro Airport back home to Tampa Airport once, and hailed a Cab.
I parked my Car a short distance from Tampa Airport, so I was not going very far.
The Cab Driver got really rude to me, crying on how he sat for over an hour waiting for a Fare, and gets a Loser like me.
Yes, he called me a Loser, to my face!
I WAS going to give him a 20 dollar tip, because I was not going far, but when he called me a Loser, I did not give him any Tip!

Logan Ryan has over 200+ snaps at three different positions. His experience is invaluable. One of the best slot corners I’ve ever seen. He’s not the most skilled, not the fastest, just finds a way through great technique. He should provide some stability to a sometimes shaky group.
GOB has mad love for AT. Bill loved to use him as a matchup DB. He made Jimmy Graham simply tap out on one occasion.

  8. Goatfarmer Says:

Glad Dumbernik let Talib go. Also glad the bozo traded the farm for Revis to sign him for $16 large to rehab his knee in Tampa when the Jets were going to cut him. Glad we had the worst GM in NFL history to come along and ruin the franchise so thoroughly that it took the Tom Brady miracle to pull us out of it.

    Hicks, ok. But…..Suh also.

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Lets see Logan in full pads and contact..I’ll evaluate then. Right Now..Everybody is 16-0.

  10. Wade Landry Says:

Make that 17-0.ATgreat player.Give Dumbnik a break. Nice guy, good hair.

  11. David Says:

A shame Talib couldn’t grow up in time to be so dominant here. He needed the change in scenery though.

  12. Eddie Marz Says:

    Everybody is 0-0. LOL. GOBUCS!
