Booger McFarland Expects Rob Gronkowski To Return To Bucs

May 8th, 2022

Gronk chatter.

Look, Joe gives certain ex-Bucs more credibility than others because Joe knows who some ex-Bucs talk to with direct or second-hand intel of the inner workings at One Buc Palace.

So when former Bucs defensive tackle and current BSPN talking head Booger McFarland is talking about Bucs moves that may happen, Joe is paying attention. In a recent hit on “Stay in Bed,” Booger seemed confident Bucs foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski will return this season and he added Gronk is “critical” to a Super Bowl run this fall.

Yes, he is very critical.

Booger went on to say Gronk is as important to Tom Brady as Ja’Marr Chase is to Joe Burrow.

“He still is a very good blocker,” Booger began. “He can still get open in the passing game. And on top of that … he doesn’t have to carry the entire load.”

Booger thinks rookie tight end Cade Otton, the Bucs’ fourth-round pick, is good enough to save Gronk snaps this year, which of course would save Gronk wear and tear.

“They need him for the postseason,” Booger added of Gronk. “I don’t think it is if he is coming back, but when. Expect Gronk to make an announcement somewhere in the summertime that he will be back. As long as Tommy is in Tampa, it’s sunshine and no state taxes, baby. I expect him to be here.”

Joe has been typing for weeks that Gronk doesn’t want to deal with training camp. And if he is in football shape, he doesn’t need it. Joe would not be surprised if Gronk returns to the Bucs in mid-August.

  2. Bird Says:

I agree and bucs should sit gronk more when bucs have game in bag in regular season . Get best record they they can but All about the post season

That was difference between 2020 and 2021
We got guys back in 2021 but they were hobbling back

Man it feels good to know your team will be in playoffs. If they arent , something bad really happened

  3. Onetrickpony Says:

No training camp? Hopefully he doesn’t get injured. Last year he showed without training camp it took him a little, to get up to speed. This years schedule isn’t any cake walk

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can’r the Bucs bring him in under a promise to go easy during camp?……I’m sure other players are permitted to slide some…..especially the older ones…..but then….If I’m Gronk…..I’m enjoying the time with Cammile, my Mom, the sun and my money.

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Of course he is coming back, he goes where Brady goes.

  6. Infomeplease Says:

When he does come back… Him and TB12 will put up some HOF records that will never be touched!!!! I think I speak for all the BUC fans when I say… “Come On Gronk!!!!! Let’s F in Go!!”

  7. PSL Bob Says:

Lord, Booger McFarland says Gronk is coming back, so it must be true. Who hasn’t predicted that Gronk will be back? I have no connections at One Buc Place and I’ve been saying emphatically that Gronk will be back. Brady is back and Gronk will be back too. Doesn’t matter when, as long as he’s here for the season kickoff. Otton can fill in and get some great experience until Gronk makes it official.

  8. Dman Says:

Not a fan of a player coming in when he wants to. He’s either part of the team or he’s not. If he’s not willing to put in the work that the other guys are he’s telling the rest of his team “I’m better than you”. Getting out of training camp will build some resentment. Don’t need that. Somebody needs to tell Gronk to get both feet in the boat.

  9. Goatfarmer Says:

    Great.

This means that Gronk will be wrassling.

  10. D-Rok Says:

    @Dman,
I can almost promise you that nobody on the Bucs team will “resent” Gronk. I think the players will be ecstatic to get Gronk back on the team, anytime, anywhere. Gronk has EARNED the right to come in when he’s truly needed. I am just hoping he is on the team this year and healthy for playoff time. Anything Gronk give us before the playoffs is just gravy, and all the players know it.

    GO BUCS!!!

Booger says Gronk is coming back, sounds crazy but it’s snot.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

Booger and Joe are ingenious. My problem is not he wants to wait till after training camp, but he seems to be sweating tequila every time I see him on TV, it is a lot. He is older, he is injury prone. We have two new TE, two new OG, a new RB, and a new WR. I feel communication is big and waiting is certainly not the way to go about winning a championship. Need that GOAT TE influence on the others, especially Otton.

  13. Bucman Says:

    Dman,

“If he’s not willing to put in the work that the other guys are he’s telling the rest of his team “I’m better than you”.

    He IS better than them!

  14. Allbuccedup Says:

Bucs drafted two tight ends and a couple of UDFAs Gronk is a luxury. Licht has leverage against his salary now.

  15. Bucs Win Says:

Did Dr. Booger have any updates on Chris Godwin’s ACL recovery process?

  16. Sharkiebucfan Says:

@rayjay1122, I see what you did there, you nose some good jokes. Hopefully the fans are not to picky.

  17. GOB Says:

Some of you have amnesia. Gronk had 4 catches on ten targets against the Rams. He looked old, slow and done. I’ve enjoyed gronks career as much as anyone. But, he can’t be depended on to stay healthy. Even if he’s babied, it’s no guarantee he’ll be healthy for the playoffs. The bigger problem, is the bucs don’t appear to understand this. If they didn’t, they would’ve bolstered the TE room with something other than rookie projects.
What makes more sense, is a mid season return. That way, he has a chance to be fresh and healthy for a playoff run. Seeing him get hurt in a meaningless week 5 game against a bum team, would be heartbreaking.

  18. GOB Says:

    Did not didn’t

  19. sasquatch Says:

Seriously, do I care what Booger thinks? No… but it worked, you got the click Joe.

  20. Buc1987 Says:

    GOB..you’re annoying af.

  21. RustyRhinos Says:

Does McFarland still have his MNF rolling seat at BSPN?
Again Booger a guy who didn’t out play the guy he forced off the team with his selection and draft status. And in more games played never came close to the tackles or sacks of the previous DT. Call me unimpressed with McFarland. He had the same spot next to HOF DT Sapp. And never came close to being as good as his predecessor Culpepper.
