Will Tom Brady Show For Any Offseason Workouts?

April 19th, 2022

“Tom, come join me in La Jolla for a couple of rounds. I’ll take care of the tab at the 19th hole. You won’t sweat your arse off like you will at Feather Sound.”

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady quit going to offseason workouts with the Belicheats in his final years in New England.

Just after he signed with the Bucs, he told Howard Stern heard on SiriusXM Radio that was because his wife, the model Gisele Bündchen, threatened to divorce him (and perhaps skip to Brazil?). So Bündchen gave Brady an ultimatum: It’s either Belicheat in the springtime or me.

Brady chose his wealthy supermodel wife. Sorry, Billy.

In Brady’s first year with the Bucs there were no offseason workouts as they were shutdown league-wide due to The Sickness.

Last year during voluntary workouts, Brady held practices instead with Bucs veterans at the New York Yankees minor league complex a few blocks down the road from One Buc Palace on Himes Avenue. Then-Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians didn’t seem to care because, well, he was Tom Freaking Brady. And if anyone didn’t need offseason conditioning, it was Brady.

What Arians did seem to care about was the safety of Brady and other Bucs. Arians said he told Brady if he wants to have private workouts, just go ahead and use One Buc Palace as the grounds are designed for football and, God forbid, trainers are there in case someone gets nicked up.

This year? So far, no Brady. And Arians is researching the draft enjoying cocktails on his west coast golf swing, savoring the fruits of newfound semi-retirement.

Todd Bowles is now coaching the Bucs, and AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht was asked about Brady perhaps showing up this spring.

“Constant communication, he and Todd have had on that,” Licht said. “It’s voluntary right now. [Brady is] going into his 23rd season. He obviously knows how to take care of himself. I just know that he and Todd have had several conversations about that.

“No worries whatsoever.”

And why be worried? Was that an issue in 2020? Was it an issue last year? Of course not!

If anything, Brady’s absence allowed Kyle Trask more snaps. And it will again this spring. Trask needs the reps after not being active for one game last season.

Brady is the last guy the Bucs, or anyone, need to be worried about blowing off voluntary spring workouts.

Brady does not need to take part in any Offseason Workouts. He is a true professional, so why risk a stupid injury ?
Yes, Trask does need to take snaps to get him ready for next year, if Brady is gone.
Of course, I do not know for sure that Brady will not be here next year.

He and Gage need to start tossing the ball around if they haven’t already.

Brady just going to get the season over and bolt to Miami!

One more thing TBBF has in common with Brady……we both won’t participate in off-season workouts.

  5. Robert Says:

he need not. Trask needs experience……he should be, and probably is throwing balls on the side to some guys.

Couldn’t these guys all log onto madden and practice like that? 🙂

I’m a little worried about Brady’s apparent now show . He did so his last couple years in NE, and I’m convinced it hurt the team. @ Letsbuccinggo raises a good point.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

    Whatever Brady wants, Brady gets.

If you have a problem with that, you’re an idiot, probably some moron Trask fanboi who is still upset that Brady returned.

Gisele needs to be out of the news with respect to TB. I mean, has he ever indicated his displeasure over how his mare spends her time galloping around her world? No.

    Stuff it, Gisele.

  9. Mikejp Says:

GOB, Brady got 2 SBs during the last 4 years without voluntary workouts. So his aging body should get more rest.

  10. GOB Says:

Mikejp, he won one of those Superbowls handing off all postseason. His defense gave up three points on the same game. He won the other one with no fans, for three road playoff games, and his defense faced an XFL offensive line. We call that a confluence of events, not a trend

At this stage in Brady’s career I would leave it up to him if he thinks he needs these workouts or not. He’s going to be 45 going into next season, he plays five weeks longer than most players, (10 Super Bowl appearances). Maybe he just doesn’t need to do this, it’s called diminishing returns. GOBUCS!

The team knows what to expect when Tom shows up
