  1. Marine Buc Says:

    With pick #27…

BPA – IDL, S, CB, EDGE, WR or OG.

    RB in round 2.

S or TE in round 3.

S or TE in round 4.

  2. MadMax Says:

Olave….Brady needs weapons or this wont work!

  3. Bird Says:

Not sure one of few top tier D tackle will be there at our pick
    If so – sure

But I am for edge rusher or corner with first. Those 2 positions most talented in draft so we can cross of huge need with first pick. Probably even move back a few picks and still get one of those top positions

  4. Marine Buc Says:

    @ MadMax

Agreed. If Olave is available at #27 the Bucs would be insane not to pick him.

Perriman, Grayson, Miller, Johnson and Darden are not going to cut it – especially if we have any injuries to Evans, Gage or Godwin…

  5. MadMax Says:

@Marine, he wont be there at 27 unfortunately….I wish it would go that way…we gotta partner with someone around 15 to 20 to trade up with. Give the GOAT his weapons.

  6. Colin in Canada Says:

If one of the Georgia DTs is there the bucs will draft them. If not we’ll prob go safety or corner because of the depth issues we ran into last year.

  7. Craig Says:

Take OG or DT in first, if they fall your way. Don’t reach to get one. If you have to pick best athlete.

Rd 2, take what you missed in round 1

    Rd 3, RB

Rd 4-4, stock up on depth and development players.

  8. Admiral Redbeard Says:

MadMax, this isn’t some 7v7 flag football league, and Olave isn’t the only receiver in this draft. This year the draft happens to be LOADED with wr talent (a result of all these college spread offenses). Games are won and lost in the trenches. Brady had no protection on the edges in the loss to the Rams, and was assaulted all day because of it. It’s the same reason we beat up on the Chiefs is SB55. Receiver is just not a weak point of this team, and a quality backup to Evans or Godwin could be had in a later round.

  9. MadMax Says:

@Admiral, I have an eye for talent and know what I see and I’m very confident in my opinion when I put it out there.

CG could miss a few games in the beginning, and what if he goes down again? Gage is untested with our system as of now….great signing, but who really knows…furthermore the WR market is getting expensive for the top guys. Olave is Top shelf talent that can stick around on the cheap for a while.

What if Evans goes down…what if Godwin goes down again? We have the GOAT at QB for what, 1 or 2 years? Are you kidding me? WE HAVE THE MUTHAFN GOAT TOM BRADY FOR 1 OR 2 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give him his weapons! I get some people dont like the drafting of a WR in the first, I was there too a few months ago…but then the light turned on in my head.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

MadMax … ‘Olave….Brady needs weapons or this wont work!’

Brady has plenty of weapons right now. Bigger concern is … IF the defense can’t hold up its’ end of the deal, the season will be toast. Didn’t we learn anything last year? Bucs didn’t have nearly enough DEPTH to weather all the injuries that we got hit with. Having JPP out there for the playoffs trying to do his thing with 1 arm wasn’t wise. Several other guys on defense were also hurting but played because we lacked suitable depth. Heck 9 players on defense played over 5 out of every 6 defensive snaps in the Rams’ game. That takes a toll.

Bucs need to draft a DT to replace McLendon (and maybe even Suh if we’re not careful) OR a DE/OLB to replace JPP in the 1st Rnd (that’s where we’ll find the comparable talent to replace Suh or JPP, BOTH high 1st Rnders). It all starts in the trenches Max, but you know that better than me.

  11. MadMax Says:

Alave is a bigger, faster version of AB with the same hands (or better) and minus being a head case…..and Brady needs that speed and catchability.

  12. MadMax Says:

@DR. if we had Godwin and AB in that game, you know as well as everyone, we wouldve been in the SB and won it….it wouldnt have come down to a misdirected DC decision on Kupp.

  13. Admiral Redbeard Says:

MadMax, saying that you have an eye for talent because you think Olave is a first round pick is a bit of a joke considering that damn near everybody (if not everybody) already thinks the same thing. If you had a real “eye for talent” you would be able to suggest a talented receiver, that not too many other people are looking at, that could be had in a later round. 8 receivers ran sub 4.4-40’s at the combine, and he was the slowest of that group. Christian Watson- bigger, faster, better high jump and long jump numbers. Like I said, it’s a LOADED receiver group.

  14. MadMax Says:

@Admiral, you’re focused on the combine? haha, ok all good. Maybe I need to get on it and check the later rounder wideouts….but I work a lot and dont have much time to do this…but when I do, Im hardcore and go with my gut, as I have always on this site.

Who have you been watching tape on other than Watson?

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

Whichever is the better player, O line or D line. Best available. Another Wirfs would be Cool, or another stud D lineman.

    Go Bucs free

  16. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Max, I do look hard at combine and pro day numbers bc they tell me things game tape can’t. Example- Jaelon Darden: great tape, but average 40 time for a wr of his size. Definitely did NOT live up to the hype. Velus Jones, Alec Pierce, or Danny Gray will all probably drop to mid rounds, and are very talented.

  17. Marine Buc Says:

    @ DR

    “Brady has plenty of weapons”

    I don’t agree.

Brate is the only TE. 1 good RB and two so-so RBs. Evans and Gage are solid WR but Godwin is coming off knee rebuild.

I don’t trust Perriman, Miller, Johnson, Darden or Grayson for various reasons.

    No Gronk – yet either.

It’s probably a mute point because I highly doubt Olave or Burks will still be there at pick #27.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Marine Buc … ‘I don’t agree’ (that Brady has plenty of weapons

Fair point. Our offense still NEEDS another blocking TE (Brate leaves a lot to be desired in that role). For RBs we’ve got Lenny, GI & KeShawn right now; we NEED a bully back there (like an Alstott or at least an excellent blocking back?).

My real point though (poorly stated obviously) was that unless we pay more attention to our DEFENSE, the offense won’t be able to score enough points to allow us to beat the top playoff teams that also have excellent offenses AND have great defenses to go with that.

Bucs have struggled against the better teams in the past 2 years (longer than that actually but we won’t go there). We won in 2020 because our DEFENSE finally got it’s act together at the end of the season & through the playoffs. Without that, we couldn’t have beaten the Saints, Packers & Chiefs. It really does take a certain amount of BALANCE between the 2 sides of the ball nowadays to make a complete TEAM.

  19. Jason M Says:

Devante Wyatt !!! Move up to get him if need be

  20. SOEbuc Says:

    BPA

  21. Marine Buc Says:

    @ DR

I agree on your main point – we need a balance between offense and defense.

This draft only has 2 maybe 3 DTs I would consider drafting in the 1st round and I doubt any of them will be available.

Picking at #27 is tough plus we don’t have enough picks to move up unless we trade away next years picks.

This is why I would go with BPA – WR (Olave, Burks), EDGE, IDL, CB.

OG, RB, S, TE or one of the three above in rounds 2-4…

If I were GM – Miller, Grayson, Johnson and Darden would all be competing for one spot…

Evans, Gage, Draft Pick, Perriman, Godwin (when he returns) and one of the above would be my 6 WR on gameday.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

You can find guards in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, as we know from Marpet and Cappa. Of course the difference is Marpet was ready to play from day 1 after having an amazing combine, while Cappa was seemingly picked out of nowhere as most people had him, at best as a 5th-7th rounder, most as an UDFA, and Cappa’s combine was awful. The fact that Licht got 2 starters out of two very different guys is why everyone should have confidence in him being able to find offensive lineman just about anywhere.

On the d-line, that’s a lot tougher. Ideally you sign Suh then draft a guy who plays his spot, that gives him a year to get up to speed. Unlike offensive lineman, rarely do defensive lineman come in and start early, and if they do, they’re rarely very good.

  23. Buczilla Says:

I went with dt since Vita, though awesomene, is a part time guy and who knows what’s going on with Suh. If Nakobe Dean (lb, GA Bulldogs) or Olave are the pick, I’m cool with that too. Licht has a knack for finding offensive linemen in later rounds, so I’m not worried about that group.

  24. bob Says:

watson from north dakota st is a sleeper

  25. DoooshLaRue Says:

I voted DT but would be ecstatic if we lucked into a blue chip OT and could trade Durable Donnie if it didn’t create too much of a dead cap hit.
If not, do it next year.

  26. David Says:

    Absolutely DLine

Suh, JPP, McClendon are probably all gone, or at least 2 of the 3. Besides, they have Hainsey backing up a couple positions and I have total confidence they can draft O Line in round 4-5 and develop them a little. That is one group they have been very good at developing

  27. AnonymousBuc76 Says:

D or O line depth please

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

As usual I agree with D.R. and David and even Rod…

IMHO our biggest challenge is trying to find a truly dependable pass rush. We were certainly decent..9th ranked per game…but if we want to really help Brady we’ll get our D off the field quicker and not fail on so many 3rd and longs.

We have plenty of targets for Brady even without Gronk. For heaven sakes who did Brady hit in Green Bay to beat the Pack for our SB run…uh…what’s that guy’s name…Scottie…something or other. Perriman has made some big catches as well.

Marine Buc…Semper Fi bro and I normally agree with all your posts but if I might pick a nit here..

“Evans and Gage are solid WR

I agree Gage is solid…but he is young and has room to grow.

But ME is pretty much earned HOF status at this point. He’s hardly just solid.
And again while I agree CG14 won’t be in top form perhaps until late in the season he’ll be ready for another playoff run and when healthy I do not call CG simply solid…he too is a legitimate star.

I was concerned about Oline until Licht’s theft from BB…OL looks solid..

I’m all in for Defense…DL and CB in that order…NO WR’s…NO RB’s they are luxuries at this point. If BOTH Playoff Lennie and the vastly improved Vaughn fail to measure up…we made a big mistake somewhere. I have confidence in them and I think injuries to Giovani disrupted any rhythm and confidence from Brady. Bernard is an ideal outlet of the type Brady loved in N.E.

  29. MadMax Says:

Injuries St Pete to scooter, come on man you know that

  30. MadMax Says:

@redbeard…you shouldve included Drake London….but its all good, i know how and dont need help.
