Intangibles? Cynthia Frelund? Really?
Joe just watched something stunning. Frelund, the NFL Network’s stat queen, did a hit discussing how talented of a coach Todd Bowles is.
Why is Joe surprised? Frelund rarely discusses anything football-wise unless she has a number attached to it. Strategy is outside her wheelhouse. Numbers and made-up stats? They’re right up her alley.
One thing that drives stat geeks to hit the ceiling is intangibles. They rail against even hearing the word. They get all fidgety when someone mentions “intangibles” and begin rocking back and forth in their chairs and twirling their hair.
Why do the nerds go mental over intangibles? You cannot slap a GD number on them and the nerds wig out as a result. For them, intangibles are like filling your Bill Currie Ford F-150 truck’s crankcase with marine oil. The two don’t mix. The stat geeks cannot compute.

joebucsfan why are these Miami rumors still floating and why would Tom Brady post about their receivers ?? I have a weird feeling that we might be seeing Oscar winning performances and BA really retired because he didn’t want to be a part of a rebuild or coaching Tua ?? You have Sean Payton out there and you would think they would offer him whatever he wants !! I think Todd is a great man and not sure if it’s standard to sign the coach to a 5 year deal, but just don’t see him being the answer. Yes he’s had some good years as a DC in AZ and everyone blames the Jets being horrible when he coached there, but something seems off and I hope we don’t see something very Fishy during the draft ! As for the Frelund comments, this is just sad world we live in where losing HCs get lauded because they are good guys and have all sorts of other qualifiers. Like Joe, she is just a fan. Inlike Joe, she has blinders on and calls them intangibles.

She also has said on air that she’s focused on the data and has been learning the game. She’s not a strategist. It’s NOT an insult, only in your head. Lastly, you can call JoeBucsFan small time all day long. The data, as Frelund would say, says otherwise. Yes, Joe has worked in professional sports, first in operations, second for the marketing arm of an agent, and then as a credentialed journalist. I’m sure many Jets fans were expecting (or at the least hoping) for great results when he 1st got the HC Jets job… His track record this far leaves one lacking confidence going forward… He definitely is in a prove it situation…
If the next 2 years turn out they struggle, hoping they land a talented offensive mind to be HC 2024 and beyond!

Roy you are coming off crazy about this. This is a football website. We all watch football and love hot women. I would hope all here respect women like me but if I see a a good looking women I would say things to my buddies that I would never say to her. Just like this website that is probably 99.9% men. Todd will do a good job. It will come down to players making plays. Offense is stack in coaching. BA , moore , brady, clyde , lefty.
Defense imo will take a big step forward with rodgers , foote motivating and players playing for bowles.
My biggest concern in depth and injuries.

I sure hope Bowles holds the team together like some intangible glue.
I see he wants to emphasize that front seven but it was a total collapse of that secondary that cost us against Cupp and the Rams.
As for Frelund, that’s the first time I’ve read about her saying anything even remotely human oriented.
She’s usually babbling some incomprehensible crap about how the angle of the dangle equals the mass of the asset.

Sasquash, I agree let’s compare him to other HC’s, he stunk. Who cares about his color, gender whatever? I already question his DC replacement choices. The Dline was bad everyone on this site is begging to address it yet Kacey continued to play JPP clearly out of respect, Suh and especially Vea played way to few snaps. Not sure what Foote did to help either, Shaq was a shell of himself and White is so talented but one of the most undiscipline LB’s in the league. How do all the fans see this yet the staff ignores it? Maybe BA had too many cooks in his kitchen. Toilet Bowls is a lateral move not a step up.

Hey @List, everybody wants our defensive line addressed in this draft not because they played poorly last year, but rather because we only have 2 DT on our roster in Vea and Gholston right now. Suh and Mclendon are not on our roster anymore.
Everybody who has a functioning brain knows that you need more than 2 DT on your team in the NFL.
Also, nicknaming a person of color such as Todd Bowles after something that is used to dispose of human waste of the same color is not cool.
There are many despicable terms and comparisons linked to human waste and people of color. Definitely shows lack of critical thinking and empathy at best. I’m hoping that’s the case for you. It’s sad, but I am not surprised.

I don’t mind NFL network having Cynthia Frelund as an analyst because I would much rather look at her while I’m getting updates on the latest NFL news than listen to some of those idiot ex players they roll out. However they should have her stick to reporting the latest stories instead of pretending that she is Albert Einstein with all her manufactured numbers and wearing those ridiculous glasses trying to make her look intelligent. Todd Bowles was a very successful defensive coach last year in the NFL, coaching a Bucs team who had massive injuries all year to a top 6 defense in the league.

Belleclown, only an idiot like yourself would tie a nickname to a racial slur. I guess that’s the way you perceive things. The D lead in many categories mainly due to how opposing offenses had to adjust to the high scoring of the offense. This left opposing offenses no choice but to play catch up also it didn’t take long after the 2020 season for opposing DC’s to figure out the weak spot of the D it’s secondary and from game one Dallas they were attacked. Regarding your continuous cover 2 gibberish, I am not qualified to question the greatest QB in leagues choices, I guess you are. That D3 national championship ring really makes you one of the elite analysts to arm chair quarterback a game. Your stats mean squat, it’s like a RB that carries the ball 30 times for 150yds yet one rush is 85 yds. He’s promoted as a 100 yd rusher even though his YPC were shat. You would lead a lonely life without Google, you’re a sad person. Oh, and I have called BA numerous names, it must be because he’s white. Dip shat.

See if folks can agree with I view as a simple observation after decades of viewing sports.
There have been some incredibly classy guys in the NFL…Selmon here…Merlin Olson with the Rams…Reggie White was literally a minister…these are human beings you would be proud to call friend.
Bill Belichek is a total arsehole..Parcells..Payton..AB and a slew of players all total and complete jerks whose ONLY value is winning football games.
So here is my take. I’ve seen great human beings succeed and sadly I’ve seen major jerks succeed…my take is that in other words their character and personality neither helped nor harmed them. Good guys DO win but so so many bad guys.
And so why would I want jerks on the team? If we can win with good guys let’s get them! IMHO that’s a major asset of the current Bucs team. Just go down the roster and look for a jerk. Nary a one to be found.
Look at the first SB champs. Warren Sapp a mental midget and a jerk but one of the greatest D lineman to ever play. I do not call Simeon a jerk just a bit of a Space Cowboy. We’ve won with good guys and we’ve won with bad guys.
I see the same thing with the Lightning…in the end talent wins out but sometimes it can carry to large a cost. Like a moron who torpedoes his team by ripping his shirt off the in the second half of a critical game!

Wow, what a revelation @List that opposing NFL offenses figured out that the Bucs defense’s weakness was the secondary.
It’s not like the NFL has an injury report that they are required to submit because of betting and Vegas, and that Bunting, Edwards, Dean, Davis and Winfield all missed multiple games during the season starting at game 1.
But, you’re right @List, silly me, stats don’t mean anything according to you @List, and injury reports and games not played due to injury are a stat. My bad.
Crazy that NFL offenses would want to pick on an injury riddled secondary that are using backups and practice squad guys starting from the first game and lasting throughout the season.
Super Bowl winning coaches like McCarthy, McVay and Peyton had to think long and hard about what to attack against the Bucs.
Even with playing backups and practice squad guys starting in the secondary starting at game 1, the Todd Bowles coached defense still was 6th best in points allowed.
Stats = $$$$$$
Stars matter a whole lot.
Players get paid because of stats.

Bellclown, your an idiot. Fournette averaged 4.5 yds per carry in 2021, Vaughn averaged 5 yds per carry, who gets paid more? Cousins, Wilson, Roger’s, Ryan ALL had worse stats than Brady last season, who was paid more? Parsons had better stats than Shaq and many other LB’s, who got paid more? Folk better kicking stats than Succop, who got paid more? Please post when you actually know what your talking about.
