Tom Brady Rumor Floated By Former Boston Radio Hockey Guy Is Nonsense

March 25th, 2022

Wild rumor hatched.

OK, OK, OK, Joe didn’t want to address this, but Joe has received so many texts and Twitters, Joe needed to throw cold water on the fire.

Tom Brady is not getting traded to the Dolphins (this year).

WEEI in Boston, one of the powerhouse sports radio stations in the country, broadcast a “report” by one of their former hockey guys, Dale Arnold, who currently works for NESN hosting Bruins telecasts. He claims the Bucs and Dolphins are deep in negotiations to trade Brady to Miami.

(Why is the former WEEI hockey guy and current NESN Bruins studio host and reporter for New England Sports Network remotely significant? He’s the same guy who first reported Brady was coming to the Bucs. At least, the first Boston media member to do so. And why does WEEI care about the Bucs’ quarterback? They still cover Brady in Boston as if he’s still with the Belicheats, which honestly is sort of cool. It would be like a St. Louis sports radio station — St. Louis sports radio is horrible — still covering Albert Pujols.)

Joe thought this rumor stunk like a hog pen in July from the get-go. If Brady was getting traded– Brady isn’t going anywhere unless he wants to — then why did he recruit so many Bucs’ free agents to return?

Jeff Howe of The Athletic played it safe last night and worked his contacts and he found out, rather than the Bucs and Dolphins talking trade, Brady is still recruiting potential new additions to the Bucs.

Joe will say this once again: Notice how so many Bucs free agent signings are for three years? It is almost like they believe a certain quarterback will still be with the team in 2023 or beyond.

That seems awfully odd for a guy that wants to get shipped to South Beach.

Florio lost a bet to the Dan Patrick Show about Brady coming back for the 49ers, has to take a pie to the face now!

  2. Goatfarmer Says:

Thank you Joe. Too bad social media sensationalists have decided fabricating unsubstantiatiable hogwash is better than old fashioned fact based journalism. What a sham.

  3. godlovesbucs Says:

Man, could you imagine how betrayed gage, Godwin, Jensen, Fournette, Davis, gholston and others would feel?

  4. David Says:

Between last year and Brady‘s retirement, I think about 90% of the national coverage on the Buccaneers has been pure speculation and complete garbage

  5. FirstTimePoster Says:

Florio the “guru” brought this up. Laughable.

  6. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

    This is so frikkin stupid.

Is there ANY player EVER who cares more about his word & credibility with his teammates…. than Tom???

To think that he would get all these guys to SIGN in Tampa Bay…. only to jump ship….

    …. is frikking ridiculous.

Sorry that the rest of the Sports world still wants to kick Tampa Bay in the teeth. — to all of em, I say, F ya.

  7. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

    FirstTimePoster,,,, agreed.

  8. John Collins Says:

Come on its just Boston media for 20 years he was the main focus of the main sport but now Brady is a Buc

  9. Tye Says:

Florio is a hack that posts anything without credible sources or factual evidence…
Often makes pathetic attempts to keep Kaepernick relevant and posts wild, far fetched rumors such as this!

  10. Whit Says:

That reporter got what he wanted…attention. Well done

  11. tbbucs3 Says:

Even after a superbowl win, Boston and national media still cant accept that Brady would want to play for the Bucs.

  12. unbelievable Says:

    LOLLLLLLLL

  13. greg Says:

I would not be at all surprised if this was floated by Stephen Ross just to see what would happen. It sounds like some BS he would pull.

  14. FERNANDO DIAZ Says:

The same people that said he retired cause of the coaching staff lmao

  15. HC Grover Says:

    That is…Fishy…:!

  16. Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs organization the gm Licht the owners treat Brady like a king. They are so good to him. Bucs fans their owners actually seem appreciate Brady. Below market contract offers no weapons but in Tampa its the complete opposite. 2019 Brady’s last yr in NE he had Ben Watson 39 years old and Ryan Izzo as his tight ends. Receivers were first round bust Nkeal Harry broken down edelman undrafted rookie Jacobi Meyers and Philip Dorsett. Patriots media blamed Brady for being old and washed up because he couldn’t score with them. He still threw for over 4000 yds and was 24 tds 8 Int, Patriots record was still 12-4. Patriots fans the organization took Brady for granted

Tired hearing about Brady going to another team, Brady himself say he came back to Tampa, why Brady don’t speak about this? Fans need to hear the truth and his team!

  18. Leighroy Says:

You know what would kill these silly rumors once and for all? Making Gronk’s return official!

  19. DungyDance Says:

Joe – I’m curious about your “this year” comment?

  20. DungyDance Says:

This rumor is stupid. Miami already traded away all their picks to KC, what would they give us? When Arians said he would need 5 first rounders, he wasn’t talking about tee times at the Palma Ceia.

  21. Bird Says:

Its a shame. No one believes the media anymore…even sports media is a joke. and if you do then reach out to me cause i got a 5 star hotel resort in baghdad i want you to stay at…its on the water and for only $500 a night…

  22. Anonymous Says:

It’s not in Brady’s DNA to recruit players to Tampa then screw them over. Gronk is just enjoying himself before signing back here.
I’m glad the Boston media wont ever let the Tommy the Great story die. lol

  25. Bobby M. Says:

I think….and it wouldn’t shock me, that Brady could be negotiating in his next extension the ability to move down there for his final year, particularly if there’s a scenario where he can become a minority owner in the process.

Joe – I’m curious about your “this year” comment?

    That’s known as a tease….

I’m amazed that some of these media types still have an audience after losing all of their credibility…..there’s no accountability

  27. TBChucky Says:

    Nothing to see hear folks..

  28. Alanbucsfan Says:

Tua, Xavier Howard and Emanuel Ogbah…for Brady

  29. Fojo Says:

I’m just here to say Mike florio sits down when he goes pee. Can’t stand that tool.

  30. D-Rome Says:

See, this is why NO ONE should listen to the chowderheads on EEI or The Hub up there. They throw crap on the wall, have all of these “insider sources” like Scott Zolak or some friend in the “Brady camp” and not one of them probably floated the idea of Brady coming back to the Bucs.

I have no doubt Pats fans were doubly pissed off when he unretired and say, “How dare he!”

  31. FlorioSquats2P Says:

FOJO is correct on Florio IMO !!!

  32. Mike28277 Says:

Same hacks still looking for BA’s red pen…….

  33. Oneilbuc Says:

Brady is staying but I do believe this is his last year regardless of what Ira Kaufman podcast says. Brady said he would play until he’s 45 and I do believe he really wanted to retire. Brady was the one who spoke about it after the Rams game no media person asked him nothing about retirement after the Rams game. And he did say I want to finish what I started in Tampa and that’s finishing out his contract. Even if they extend it it’s to help the bucs salary cap. So enjoy this last season with Brady because this is it he will be done with football. That’s why I’m done debating Brady he’s one of the all time greats to me but I don’t believe in goats in team sports!! So I’m going to enjoy watching my bucs win this year!! Go bucs!!

  34. lambchop Says:

    @DungyDance,

Because whether Tom retires is a year to year basis. We don’t know 100% if he’ll play past this season until he says so.

  35. D-Rome Says:

That’s why I’m done debating Brady

Oneilbuc, why were you debating Brady? He’ll start more games (in his mid 40s) over the next 3 years than Jay-Miss will.

  36. Jameis Says:

Come on Joe, let’s not be children here. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.

Back when the media used to say that Brady and Belichick were fighting behind the scenes all Pats fans called faked news. Turns out it was all true.

At some point in this offseason Brady probably wanted so play for some other team, but whatever problem he had was solved at least for this year, since he is out there recruiting players for the bucs.

I just think it’s delusional to act like it was all made up by the media.

  37. ACG2x Says:

This is literally the stupidest sports ‘rumor’ of 2022. I hope Arnold is satisfied with his attention grab ploy.

  38. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Tom clearly wants something it isn’t money, it is not a coincidence this Dolphins story came back right now, he clearly doesn’t think the team has everything he wants, he will resign and then Gronk and someone else when he gets that.

It would be stupid for his brand and the SB chance to go to Miami in 2022. The team is much weaker than Tampa even with Brady, and the AFC is very difficult to win Championship from.

But clearly Brady hasn’t done his deal and Gronk for a reason and its not money.

  39. geno711 Says:

    @New England Patriots Fan.

“… it is not a coincidence this Dolphins story came back right now…”

You really do see conspiracy theories.

  40. Mond Says:

The gm did say it was some friction going on last yr , with Tom & Bruce . Also the GM didn’t say no too reports of getting baker mayfield . Maybe they is working on a 3 team trade . I mean why not get something from Tom instead of letting him walk for free next year .

  41. DungyDance Says:

Now I figured it out. Dolphins trading us Ray Finkle for Brady. And we will start Shane Falco at QB this year.

  42. PassingThru Says:

I’m amazed at anyone who spends time listening to any sports talk radio show. Those hosts make excrement up just to get people to call in. It isn’t a form of journalism, it’s just pure garbage. That’s when ESPN really went downhill, when they hired idiots like Smith and Bayless to mimic that stupidity.

  43. Tbtb12 Says:

DungyDance: funny stuff! I love that flick

  44. AlvaFan Says:

Tom bought the palace lot in Key Biscayne. Got his mega yacht coming to cruise the Caribbean with the family. Miami does seem to be his next stop. Whether as an owner or a player he’s heading south next year
