Andrew Luck Is An Empty Pipe Dream

March 1st, 2022

Highly unlikely.

Joe has often says that Joe sincerely appreciates each and every reader (even the haters). If not for the readers, this site would not exist and Joe remembers that each day. Thank you.

And Joe often gets ideas from readers who enjoy commenting from time to time. This story came from just such a comment over the weekend.

A reader mentioned Andrew Luck as a possible replacement. Joe started to do some math.

Well, Luck, if he came out of retirement and was traded to the Bucs, would be reunited with his offensive coordinator/interim head coach Bucco Bruce Arians and his old quarterback coach, Bucs QB coach Clyde Christensen.

The reason Luck retired was he was beat to hell. He never had a decent offensive line in Indianapolis. Well, the Bucs have one of the best lines in the game (before Ali Marpet retired). So Joe reasoned if Luck ever had that spark to return, the Bucs would be a perfect fit. Coaches, grasp of the offense, weapons, line.

Whatever fleeting thought Joe had was burst yesterday by a story from Matthew VanTryon of the Indianapolis Star. Luck is happy away from the game.

It seems that Luck’s college coach at Stanford, David Shaw, was on the “Rich Eisen Show” recently and threw cold water on any Luck return.

“Andrew Luck is doing better than all of us combined,” Shaw said. “He knows himself, he’s comfortable with himself. The rest of us would love to see him go out there and sling it around, but his career is too short, obviously, but it was an amazing experience for him and now he’s moved on. He’s a husband and a father, and looking for that next chapter in his life.”

When Luck played, he was a rocked-up, hulking huge guy. Two months ago at the college national championship in Indianapolis, Luck showed up (he pretty much stays in hiding) and was unrecognizable. He was rail-thin skinny and looked like he was a meth-starved hillbilly from the mountains of eastern Kentucky. He only needed a spit cup to complete the picture.

Mike Glennon was rumored to have asked Luck if he needed a sandwich.

It didn’t appear Luck was remotely near any shape to play quarterback in the NFL.

So no, it doesn’t appear likely Luck will play for the Bucs or any team in the NFL again.

If Andrew Luck had any desire to play football he is physically a year away from being anywhere near football shape. He’s done.

Andrew Luck coming out of retirement? What an idiotic concept, why don’t we see if we can get Terry Bradshaw’s rights or maybe we can dig up Johnny U.

Luck looks like he’s on Keto now. He’s not coming back.

As for the haters, take it from a former president’s Twitter account: “Every time I speak of the haters and losers, I do so with great love and affection. They cannot help the fact that they were born f**ked up!”

Right now the Bucs o-line is one big question mark. You can’t sell great o-line to a qb right now.

One can dream…..and until the facts come in the dream is alive…..but we can move on to other dreams…
    Rodgers, Wilson,
Watson, Carr, Garoppolo are more likely but still long shots.

I hate it but we may have to settle for Bridgewater, Mariota, Dalton, Trubisky et al.

I know a lot of folks are in a tizzy and worried about our super bowl window closing after this year and blah, blah, blah. Windows can be re-opened and there is nothing wrong with rolling with Trask for a year to see if he can play. If Arians doesn’t like it then he can retire. Unless we can acquire one of the very best quarterbacks it’s dumb to waste our cap and picks on average or good.

I remember seeing a photo of Gronk a few years back after he retired and I said the exact same thing…

Modern “science” and training can put 20 pounds of muscle on an athlete in a few months time.

I still don’t believe Luck is coming back – but I never thought Gronk would be able to come back either.

    Jimmy Carter?

Luck as I shared weighed about 170lbs and is emaciated. But yes if he went on the “vitamins” he could come back within 12m, but he has family, health and wealth now.

My take on both him, Marpet, Kuechly, Borland etc and some of these other very high IQ football players, they will quit early as with a very high IQ comes some mental health risk via stress, head injury, etc, same will all players but the high IQ won’t play through it as they don’t need to.

They will not allow themselves to become physically destroyed in the brain once they are paid as they come from well off professional families, whom can do so much more if they leave the NFL and they aren’t just football players as their identity.

I think Christian McCaffrey will leave early too because of the position he plays and his frame and family wealth.

I don’t know how Fitzpatrick who’s at a Mensa level IQ has continued to play and take massive hits when his very well off now.

We’re really grasping at straws here.

He wasn’t ever really good other than his first few years… why are we even talking about him? Even Winston was better.
