Ali Marpet Not Expected To Return

March 14th, 2022

Pro Bowl LG Ali Marpet.

Apparently, the Tom Brady magic and influence are not perfect.

Despite the greatest of all time returning to the Bucs, it was not enough to change Ali Marpet’s mind. That’s the word from Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Per Marpet’s agent, the newly engaged and freshly retired Pro Bowl left guard will stay retired.

Instead, Marpet plans to launch a career in the mental health field.

No, Joe isn’t going to use a cheap one-liner here using mental patient Antonio Brown as a punching bag.

Football has been good for Ali and he was a very good player for us. It’s clear that he doesn’t have quite the same passion for the game as someone like Brady. Add to that the fact that he’s knocking heads on a regular basis and he’s not too keen on the toll that takes obviously. Didn’t expect him back, even after the surprising Brady unretirement yesterday.

This sucks. Ughh. They need to clear cap space right now in the worse way.

  3. Goatfarmer Says:

Antonio Brown might in fact not be mentally ill. He just might be that much of a d!ck with ears.

  4. Joe Says:

    LOL Goatfarmer 🙂

  5. Its a Bucs Life Says:

Enjoy retirement Ali, great guy and will always be a Buc.

Some players have different priorities and he is a player that deserves to enjoy his health and life.

  6. Bojim Says:

    Enjoy your life Ali!

  7. New England Patriots Fan Says:

If it was for health reasons then of course he shouldn’t return even for a SB run.

And he may have already ready started losing the weight.

  8. PSL Bob Says:

He was saying he was wavering on when to retire and TB12″s departure clarified his timing. I actually thought he might change his mind when Brady announced his return. Oh well, can’t fault anyone who wants to earn a Master’s degree and help others. We will miss him in a major way but wish him all the best life has to offer. Thanks for your enormous contributions to the Bucs Ali!

  9. BA4President Says:

Well no one can say he is materialistic.

    We’ll see.

Passion for the game or not..Marpet is a very smart man. He relishes the idea of ..not walking with a permanent limp or having some career ending injury being carted off the field.. Most..NFLers have mega health problems after retirement. Especially those who have played 10 yrs or longer. I luv Brady is back. But..don’t think its a smart move on his part.

  12. Pick6 Says:

if i recall, he has had a couple of extended concussion issues in recent years. hard to begrudge him this decision, although he joins a long line of interior bucs OL who had the physical talent to play far longer than their career ended up being….a far happier story than arron sears (mental illness), davin joseph (knee injury), and Carl Nicks (nasty toe injury + MRSA)…Sweezy nearly joined that list too. best of luck, ali, and when you get the itch next year the bucs will be ready (though brady might be gone)
