Tristan Wirfs Details Rehab Timeline

No boot for Tristan Wirfs.
It is a toss-up for Joe what the biggest injury was that derailed the Bucs’ chance to return to the Super Bowl, Chris Godwin and his knee or Tristan Wirfs and his ankle.
Both injuries were major in their own ways. Godwin’s took away Tom Brady’s favorite target. Wirfs’ injury left Brady vulnerable to a pass rush.
Today at Pro Bowl practice in Las Vegas, Wirfs showed up. The All-Pro right tackle isn’t going to play in the game as he is still nursing an ankle injury suffered against the Eagles to open the playoffs.
He couldn’t make a go of it against the Rams last week, which was the worst timing as the Rams and their pass rush did a number on Brady early in the game. But Wirfs showed up to Las Vegas without wearing a boot and no noticeable limp.
Surgery, Wirfs said, is not off the table and he likely won’t know more for another three weeks. His doctors believe rest may be the perfect potion, but if that doesn’t do the trick then doctors might have to “go in for a scope and fix what they need to fix.”
Until then, no Pro Bowl or basketball or lifting trees or anything like that.
“We will give it time to rest and rehab and we will take it from there,” Wirfs said.
Surgery or not, Wirfs added, he will be ready for training camp. Spring activities such as OTAs and minicamp might not happen for Wirfs.
Still, Wirfs is relieved as to where the sprained ankle is. Initially, it was feared Wirfs would need surgery.
“That was, like, my first real injury,” Wirfs said. “I didn’t know what to expect or how to go about it.”
Wirfs attended the Pro Bowl acting as a social media ambassador for the NFLPA.

Three facts that wrecked the Bucs playoffs:
1 – Godwin’s knee
2 – A.B. and B.A. not being able to play nice
3 – Wirfs ankle
4 – Todd Bowles’ error in judgement
Oh well. Hopefully we get another chance at a Super Bowl title before I die…

It can take a year or even longer for severe high ankle sprains. Hopefully this sprain is only moderate.

The only TB12 Game I got to was the Sunday night saints game.. 9-zip…wtf? 13..7..14 all got hurt .. that is the game that killed our season.. period

That’s the only game I went to in Tampa…..9-0….and got really hurt….
I did go the next week to Charlotte & we whipped the Panthers 33-6….much better.

Injuries to JPP & Shaq Barrett…….making our pass rush completely impotent the entire game…..giving Stafford time to throw deep…
Wasn’t as obvious as other factors….but definitely impacted that game.

I agree with your four facts Marine…just not quite in that order as far as impact on the team. Wirfs 1, Godwin 2, Bowles dumba** call 3rd and losing AB 4th

History shows the Bucs could win with guys off the street catching the ball as long as Wirfs was blocking.
He was the killer injury.

It’s no toss up, once Wirfs was ruled out for the Rams game, it was over. Your depth stinks and you’re going against a defense has given you a lot of issues. If it was a different matchup then Godwin might be that guy, but either way, both guys were missed, bigly.
