Mike Evans And NFL History

February 1st, 2022

NFL history.

Joe is pretty convinced that Bucs receiver Mike Evans will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Evans has the NFL record of beginning a career with eight straight (and counting) 1,000-yard receiving seasons. The closest to that mark is Randy Moss with six.

Someday, that record might be broken. The NFL, year by year, is more of a passing league. So Joe doesn’t think Evans’ record is unbreakable. Difficult, yes. Unbreakable, no.

So while Joe was having breakfast at a diner this morning, the tube there was piping in BSPN. Time after time, producers showed Evans catching a bomb from Tom Brady (over Jalen Ramsey) for a touchdown in the loss to the Rams in the playoffs.

Why was this play so interesting that it had be aired so often? It was (for now) the final touchdown of Brady’s career. And Evans caught it.

So when Evans joins football immortals in Canton someday, in his speech, he can say he caught the final (for now?) touchdown pass from the very best.

    Get that football!

  2. Buddhaboy19 Says:

Jalen Ramsey is highly over rated, and he is a scumbag taboot.

  3. unbelievable Says:

Loved that it was against Ramsey too.

Ugh, what could have been… thanks a lot Bowles.

  4. Listnfrmafar Says:

Couldn’t of happened to a better DB. Is Bowles still allowed in the city of Tampa?

  5. zzbucs Says:

ME13, my favourite Buc ever!!!! By far………..

  6. BA4President Says:

What a comeback that was. Even on the losing side, that was epic

  7. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

Wonder how much that football is worth that Evans threw away???? Tom Brady’s last TD pass ever has to be worth more than the 600 TD pass.

Some Lucky fan won the lottery, ME13 threw probably a million dollar ticket lol.

  8. D-Rok Says:

    That was an impressive play.

  9. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

    Evolving right on!!!

  10. Dew Says:

Love Mike. Top quality receiver & human being. Now he needs a new QB. I say Wilson or Garappolo. But if Garappolo goes to the Raiders, or Rodgers goes to the Broncos then we have other options. I would love for Carr to replace Brady as an option. Not convinced either current Broncos QB’s are worth a try. Definitely don’t want a pervert.

  11. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Yeah Todd Bowles let the air out of the stadium and I don’t doubt pushed Brady over the line towards retirement.

  12. Hodad Says:

Nice throw to end your career.

  13. Mark Says:

If Brady Un-retired, wouldn’t he be property of the Buccaneers?

  14. GoatWatcher Says:

What a great way to leave the game–a 55-yard bomb to Mike Evans as your final TD. His final play in NE was a pick 6 to former teammate Logan Ryan.

So what if bowles plan backfired……it was the same game planner who planned that defensive masterpiece against the chiefs and won the super bowl. Thanks Todd Bowles you brought our Defense out of the slums of Mike Smith and made us respectable. Do you think Tom would have chosen the Bucs if that defense wasn’t the defense it was the last 8 games of 2019 when the human turnover machine was cranking out INT’s like a pirate tossing beads at the Gasparilla parade.

    And deservedly so!

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

After all the horrible QB’s he endured, including the off field drunken groper, it’s only fitting that one of our classiest players gets to catch the GOATS final bomb.

    Overrated???? No. A jerk? Yes.

The most overrated cornerback is on the Cowboys. Led the league in interceptions and was at the bottom of every other significant statistical category for a cornerback. He was horrible other than apparently about a dozen times

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

ME13 should be first ballot hof and he will break his own record this coming season and probably the one after that. This team is not in bad shape. A few roster tweaks and shore up the secondary. They’ve developed a winning culture and can win without Tom Brady. Hide and Watch

  20. SufferingSince76 Says:

It’s possible Brady had already decided to retire at the end of this season. Maybe he was hoping for that 8th ring on the way out. I highly doubt he un-retired once he gets a taste of it and gets his wife off his back at the same time.

  21. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Un-retires

  22. alaskabuc Says:

@BigMacAttack- respectfully disagree that the team is not in bad shape. Brady was changing the mindsets and approach of some within the organization, but this year we were even sloppier than last. We couldn’t play a complete game on both sides of the ball. We regressed back to the same drive killing stupid penalties, and in general struggled with offensive and defensive game plans that were effective start to finish. Brady masked a lot deficiencies with his talent and football IQ, and certainly taught a portion of the organization how to be professional and focus on the perfection of their craft. Unfortunately it appears that a good portion of the coaches/players are selfish, arrogant and have an aversion to hard work. Praying I am wrong, but I see the same old Bucs resurfacing, while we forget to water the seeds Brady planted.

  23. Swampbuc Says:

    THANKS, TODD.

  24. BashingBucs2520 Says:

I feel for Mike a lot. The guy deserves to win and he finally got that. I hope Tampa does right by him and trades him to a deserving franchise – that is if Tampa decides to rebuild.

  25. captivajim Says:

Evans is a great player.. It was fitting that Brady’s last TD bomb went to him. He threw it in the stands because he thought like most of us -we would win it in OT ..

But Bowles made TWO really stupid play calls……

  26. Anonymous Says:

    Love the guy m13

  27. Defy9Ordinary Says:

There’s no doubt that Evans’s will be go into the HOF. If he continues his outstanding career he could become a 1st ballot HOF’er! As far as the GOAT TB12, he obviously had nothing else to prove for quite some time ago… Brady deciding to retire after the 2021 Season of tumult is no surprise to me or I’m sure many, but it SUCKS!! And that b.s. call on the last play of the game by Bowles and okayed by Arians doesn’t say much about the Buccaneers situational coaching… At least on that side of the ball. Thank you Tom Brady for giving us everything you had!! My life was literally much more enjoyable because of you being the greatest football player ever & I got to witness that week in n’ week out for 22 frickin’ glorious years!!! #LFG

Yo Ira! Please remember that catch and who Mike smoked while making it when you do your wacky wide receiver rankings this year. You’re the best Ira and I love your work, but that damn list always makes me scratch my head. 😜

  29. Allen Lofton Says:

Thankful for what TB brought to the Bucs…it’s been the best two years in Buc history
