“I Think Tampa Should Go All-In And Get Deshaun Watson”

February 19th, 2022

The current and former Buccaneers general managers.

Creepy, sleazy Deshaun Watson has a lot of support among Bucs fans, and one of them is a former Tampa Bay shotcaller.

The rock star general manager himself, former Bucs GM Mark Dominik, was very intrigued to hear the Bucs named as a team deeply studying all things Watson in preparation for a potential trade with the Texans.

Dominik has hosting duties on SiriusXM NFL Radio and he put his foot down there this week. If indeed the Vikings and Bucs are teams interested in Watson, as was widely reported, then Dominik thinks it’s a slam dunk that Watson would want to come to Tampa versus Minnesota. (Remember, Watson’s contract gives him a say in where he’s traded.)

He also said Team Glazer would be wise to make the move.

“If Tampa’s in on this, to me, I applaud it 100 percent. I think Tampa should go all-in and get DeShaun Watson,” Dominik said.

This is especially interesting to Joe because Dominik is not bitter about his Tampa Bay departure and remains a Bucs fan. Also, Dominik spent 19 years in the organization and knows Team Glazer and the operation quite well.

Watson, the three-time Pro Bowler, is a superstar quarterback, obviously. The drawback is his 22 pending civil suits tied to sexual misbehavior and potential criminal charges against him. Will he be suspended by the NFL? Are their more accusers waiting to come forward?

  1. Que5 Says:

    Agree

  2. Bobby M. Says:

Will he be suspended?…..Yes. If the goal is to compete in the small window we currently have, Watson isn’t going to be a good fit. If the goal is to secure a franchise QB who can allow us to compete for the next decade, then Watson is a super rare opportunity that is hard to pass up. Franchise QBs of his caliber and age never become available. We wasted 5 yrs trying to figure out what Winston was AND he was what many considered “NFL ready”. The draft is too difficult to navigate for QBs so if that’s what you’re fishing for, then giving up some 1st rd picks is a bargain for a proven commodity.

  3. Doctor Stroud Says:

Wham-lovin’ former Bucs GM pop star Mark Dominik was given his freedom by the Bucs for good reason. Everything she wants is to potentially sue the pants off (pardon the pun) of Deshaun Watson, and that might be trouble for the Bucs. He’s just not your man!

  4. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Watson is intriguing, but he has so much legal trouble.

  5. BigPoppaBuc Says:

His legal situation is just way too messy. No, I’m not holding out for a choir boy. It’s just crazy to mortgage the future over a guy with so much uncertainty as to his legal problems and possible (probable?) Suspension. Although there’s definitely a part of me that sees the upside in a move like this. We could be set at QB for a long time and the super bowl window would remain wide open. Tough call.

  6. Rob Says:

I think Mark Dominik should stop it.

  7. HC Grover Says:

No, Nope, Negative, Nada, Nyet, Never.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Mark Dominick is not a very good judge of anything…….

And the problem for Watson is not .the expense vs the legal/civil/suspension problems…it’s the nightmarish PR problems that he brings as the “face” of the franchise.
    Yes I know…..innocent until proven guilty (22 times) ….but this is the “me-two era”…..and in Watson’s case….it’s the “me-22”.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    me too….

  10. Maddognavy Says:

I would rather lose with Trask then invite all the baggage that will come with Watson. To many distractions for the Bucs to be giving up draft picks. Phenomenal talent, far to much baggage – No thanks

  11. Marine Buc Says:

What ever Mark Dominik says to do – Do the opposite…

He was one of the worst GMs in NFL history.

He made Matt Millen look competent.

  12. SufferingSince76 Says:

He will be suspended if any of this stuff is true. Possibly 8 games.

  13. Destinjohnny Says:

What a minefield of crap he brings though?
Can there really be that many women with the same story and all them not be true?
Is anybody coming out in defense of him?
    Just asking as I don’t know ?

  14. Listnfrmafar Says:

Swampanizer should be all over this, a player cut from the same cloth as he is. Watson is a selfish, premadona overrated pig. I’m sure this guy will add to the Bucs as a credible franchise. NOT!

  15. Niles Says:

I say be classy and go for two: Dassault Watson AND Jamoist Winston.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

Trouble or not. I would pursue Watson. This guy is going to be a winner. Invest in him. He is a very good QB.

  17. jehzsa Says:

    Twenty-two pending civil lawsuits?

Sure, trade for him and re-hire AB and make sure they both live together to keep an eye out for each other.

It’s the prudent thing to do….

  18. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

So, all you JBF commenters, we’re guessing you don’t believe Watson is facing any sort of suspension by the NFL? He’s up to his eyeballs in litigation….

  19. PSL Bob Says:

    Me-22! Good one tbbf!

  20. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Could it be that most of us don’t know exactly what the legal issues are with Watson and is there a reason this has YET to go to court going on what, 18 months now? Something tells me the Bucs AND the NFL know more than what is being reported.

  21. ChiBuc Says:

How many piles of dog $h!t did Dominick lay at the teams feet? Schiano, Freeman (how’s that for qb evaluator), Winslow, Alston, etc…. he even cut Brooks. Blount was his best evaluation, and McCoy his best pick which should have been Suh. I know hindsight is 20/20, but this is just one more pile he’s pushing out

  22. WillieG Says:

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  23. Craig Says:

Just say no. He is unrepentant about his legal problems, and that means he thinks he is entitled.

  24. CalBucsFan Says:

TBBF said it best, no to Watson!

  25. Hodad Says:

We won a SB with Brad Johnson, the Ravens won one with Dilfer. You need a good team to win a SB. Matt Stafford had a great playoff run, but they can’t win it all without Donald. We had the best of all time last season, and it wasn’t enough. Getting Watson isn’t the key to winning a SB. Putting a Sb roster together wins SB’s. Hard to compete without 3 future firsts, and seconds for one player. What happens if he gets hurt. Better have a good team, rather than just a good QB.

  26. Niles Says:

“Dominik headed up five draft classes while serving as the club’s general manager. During his tenure the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had only one winning season (2010).”

Well, then, by all means, do what Domimik says!!! /s

  27. Niles Says:

I say stay classy and go for two: Dassault Watson AND Jamoist Winston!

  28. Leda Says:

I think that people love criminals..AB part 2

  29. Positive thinker Says:

I am so glad that the so called fans on here have no say so in this.. stick to your day job and stop pretending you know anything about what the glazer’s should or should not do.

  30. Buczilla Says:

If Watson truly harassed and abused these women then I want nothing to do with him, but I refuse to throw someone under the bus until they admit guilt or are proven guilty. That’s what these woke weirdos do and I want nothing to do with that filth.

  31. Niles Says:

    @ Hodad.

Good point. TEAMS win Super Bowls, not quarterbacks. Brady was surrounded by great teams. So was Montana. So was Bradshaw. Favre on the other hand was not, and won only 1 Super Bowl (he had his second Super Bowl in hand with a late drive TD but the Packers defense went out and gave up a final long drive to the Broncos for the go ahead touchdown). Did you know Favre never played with another Hall of Fame offensive player? Yup. Other than Favre, the only player in the Hall of Fame from Favre’s Packers years is defensive end Reggie White. IT’S A TEAM SPORT.

  32. Coburn Says:

Would be really hard to root for him if he came here. may watch more chargers games if that happens

  33. Erick Says:

    Do it!

  34. Show Me the TDs Says:

If the Bucs sign Watson, even though I was born in Tampa and have been a fan since 1976, I will switch allegiance to another team. Football is a part of life. It isn’t life.

  35. Eric Says:

im in rare agreement with Dominik. Its a qb’s league as we discovered with Brady.

  36. Buc92’ Says:

@Bigpoppa it’s not a tough call at all… You just made ur own point , it’s simple u wana win or not … u want that window open for a decade or not … this game is about winning , not having a pastor at qb.

    GoBucs!

  37. Beeej Says:

Well, if we get Watson, can’t complain about JE pawing Uber drivers anymore. But at the glacial rate it’s progressing, his legal troubles won’t be decided for another year at least

  38. GMC hater Says:

Always do the opposite of what pop star says.

  39. allbuccedup Says:

Trade Trask and 2023 #1 pick for Kirk Cousins providing the vikings pay half of his cap hit. Then sign him to a new contract and shove the money down the line.

  40. ModHairKen Says:

Dominik was a horrible GM. I guess he’s also a man of low morals and principles.

Since 76 also for me…and while I wouldn’t abandon my Bucs if Atilla the Hun was QB…..I would never be able to watch another Buc game at home…..my wife would throw me out on game days…..

  42. Bqen green Says:

His civil legal problems should be resolved by training camp. The criminal cases will be incredibly hard to prove. If he were going to be charged, we should’ve heard something by now, Grand juries leak like sieves. He will be suspended, Ben’s guess is 4-6 games. Go get him

  43. Swampbuc Says:

No one should listen to or care what the ultimate franchise wrecker, Mr. 28-52, Mork Dumbfuknik, has to think or say.

    STFU Mork.

  44. BUCman Says:

Food for thought: Remember what really caused the problems in Houston leading to his trade demand. It had nothing to do with the complaints by the 22 women. He was unhappy because he wanted a say in their hiring of a GM and other personnel decisions related to the roster and didn’t get it. God forbid the team selected a new GM and made roster decisions without first asking their quarterback if he was okay with it. No matter how good a player is he should never have that kind of power! What happens if we trade for him and Arians retires at the end of the season? Does Watson choose our next head coach? And if he doesn’t get his way will he demand a trade again? He is a 26 year old QB who thinks he owns the team. I suppose he’ll want to make draft picks as well. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it with all the baggage that comes with it. All for the low price of 156 million dollars! Yes, that is ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SIX MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Of course that’s not a bad price if he is going to be our QB, GM, and HC😂

  45. Show Me the TDs Says:

@Tampabaybucfan. My 3 daughters, 3 stepdaughters, and wife, as well. I used to be “that guy”, but I grew and learned it’s not all about me.

  46. Biff Barker Says:

Just can’t see this happening. Too much money and too much baggage.
Have we not learned anything from Freeman and Winston?
Start Gabbert than ease in the new kid.

  47. Swampbuc Says:

As stated elsewhere, there are only lousy QB options for the Bucs post-Brady.

Either they carry criminal/conduct issues, would cost too much against the cap, would cost too much in trade capital, and/or simply suck to varying degrees.

The FA who just spent three seasons watching JW throw 30 picks and TB12 throw for a SB win and almost another, Gabbert, is 13-35 as a starter. 2-3 with BA.

    The 2-3 projects to 6-11 / 7-10 type season.

I understand why the Goob makes sense. The above is the turd in that basket.

  48. David Ventry Says:

Seriously?WTF is wrong with people?22 accusers and all anyone cares about is when he can play?No wonder our country is fd

  49. MikeRalstott Says:

Absolutely, bring Deshaun Watson to the strip club capital of the world.

  50. Stone crab sam Says:

What’s a happy ending or two amongst friends😎 just ask mr. Patriot himself….
Yes sir, sign the man and go for #3. No guts no glory as me pappy always said! Nervous Nellie never won the fair maiden😁

  51. Mike Johnson Says:

Pay off the women Watson. You got the coin. Hell, all they lookin for is some cash anyways. Pay’em off and come to Tampa and ball out.

  52. steele Says:

“I think Tampa should go all-out and avoid DeShaun Watson, unless they want suffering, misery and losing.”

  53. Swampbuc Says:

Good to see a little bit of tolerance from some.

So many hypocrites are thumping their bibles about morals on one hand and yet support the NFL, clearly an organuzation full of nothing but the most pious. Yeah.

  54. gp Says:

Can’t say as I can trust the “wisdom” of Dominick.
I will root for whomever the Bucs hierarchy decides to choose to lead this team. Afraid I’ll need a bucket standing by for “certain” options though.

  55. Swampbuc Says:

Maybe Dumbfuknik says this stupid outrageous stuff hoping that Jason Licht might make the mistake of taking his advice, making Dum and his 28-52 record, horrible drafts and stupid contracts, movements in free agency, trades……

He’s thinking if Jason does this it will make me look a little less stupid for the Revis thing. Among many many others.

  56. HC Grover Says:

Watson is a Bum. He stanks. Back to other pastimes if they hire that repugnant low life.

  57. Tony Says:

It’s Colin Kaepernick time. Maybe we sign him.

  58. Listnfrmafar Says:

That wouldn’t work, he plays on his knees.

  59. Tony Says:

Well then we’d just have to make him the holder on FGs & extra points/PATs. Problem solved.😀

  60. J.B. Says:

You can’t bring Watson to Tampa, strip clubs and massage parlors are everywhere, he obviously already can’t control himself. I would trade for him either, Texans are going to have to release him, everyone knows he is not going back to Texans. Gabbert and Trask are better options at this point.

  61. Tackleblockwin Says:

Watson’s behavior off the field makes AB look like an angel. No thanks. I realize some football players do dumb/bad things now and again. But this guy is on another level of scum. Rather go 0-17 next year than win with a complete lowlife.

  62. BUCman Says:

Good or bad, I would hold my head up high wearing a Trask jersey! Even if he won a Superbowl I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a Watson jersey! Tells me everything I need to know!

  63. Kj Says:

All you judgemental clowns if he did it he deserves everything coming to him but don’t act like people don’t lie in this world we all live in

  64. David Says:

As long as he’s not going to jail, I would love it! but – how?
His contract is like 40 million a year

And they need to sign Godwin, Jensen, Davis, Whitehead, and Gholston

  65. Buc-Up Says:

Of course the GM who gave up 1st & 3rd round picks for Revis who was coming of an ACL injury and the entire league knew he wasn’t going to play for the Jets would trade for a player who’ll probably get suspended. If not jail time.
