Warren Sapp Not Pleased How Bucs-Rams Game Ended

January 27th, 2022

No laughing matter for Warren Sapp.

He may no longer play for Tampa Bay and he may not make every home game, but rest assured Bucs legend Warren Sapp is fully dialed in when it comes to his Bucs.

Sapp still bleeds red and pewter.

Now yesterday Joe brought a video from former NFL scout and current NFL Network talking head Daniel Jeremiah who broke down the final, critical Cooper Kupp catch and noted how a couple of Bucs players weren’t lined up for the snap of the ball.

Sapp took to Instagram with the All-22 angle and he was none too pleased how the defense lined up/didn’t line up. It wasn’t just Shaq Barrett. The blitz angles seemed to bother Sapp. At one point he sighed, “Where you coming from, Polk County?”

Sapp simply could not believe the Bucs decided it was a wise move to leave the league’s best receiver in single coverage.

You can see it all below and you can just hear the frustration and pain in Sapp’s voice.

In this video, Sapp speaks for us all. If for some reason you have trouble viewing the video, try clicking here.

  1. Defense Rules Says:

That was an awesome breakdown of the last play by Warren Sapp. I don’t remember if the Bucs had an timeouts left at that point, but that certainly would’ve been an opportune time to use one.

Looking at the play from that angle, Suh is the ONLY Buc who did what he was supposed to do on that play. He beat not just 1 but TWO Rams player to almost get to Stafford. And Stafford held the ball just long enough … with Suh coming straight at him … to make that play. Kudos to him BTW; that took some real guts.

To the rest of our defense, Shaq & LVD especially, what in heaven’s name were the 2 of you thinking?

  2. 407Bucsfan Says:

He’s 100% right. Everything was off on that play. Defense not ready, safety 1/1 on Kupp (league best receiver) personnel wrong (should have been in nickel or dime), players not lined up, and last all out blitz.

Coaches choke too. Plain and simple.

    Will this comment be posted?

  4. BucfaninMi Says:

    Am I banned from commenting???

  5. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

    I’m sick.

  6. Beeej Says:

The Rams hadn’t scored the enTIRE second half

  7. SB~LV Says:

    Why?
They played inconsistent football all but a few games.
    Finally caught up with them

  8. Bobby M. Says:

People that dont “know” football could see it was a mess. Guys like Sapp…..BRADY!….have to look at this as pathetic. How exactly do we not have enough talent to run an effective zone? JPP, Vea, Suh, David, Shaq, White, Winfield, Whitehead, Davis…..if you cant run a zone with all those guys on a team with no timeouts and seconds left on the clock, you’re time has past in NFL coaching.

  9. lambchop Says:

Sapp callin out the players – not the coach, not THE coach, nah not the coach, we talkin about the players!

Embarrassing situational football awareness. Better team won. End of story.

  10. lambchop Says:

I can guarantee you our players thought the Rams were playing for OT.

Guys hit the snooze on the alarm and said, “5 more minutes!”

  11. lambchop Says:

This game isn’t even like the Bert Emmanuel catch where we can all collectively blame a ref. This is our players who clocked out thinkin they’ll be ready for OT.

1 timeout would have made a HUGE difference, if we had one to take.

  12. Alanbucsfan Says:

Maybe Bowles was arranging his next interview

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

It’s called preparation. The entire D and coaching staff were not prepared for the situation and should have been. When you look at that games entirety, I honestly believe Bowles did nothing to game plan. This was the same shatty D he’s ran all season. I guess preparation for interviews Friday and Saturday took a lot out of him. I take Sapps opinion over Moore.

  14. Hodad Says:

If we lose Bowles, fingers crossed, give Sapp the job.

  15. PassingThru Says:

Not only was Kupp left in single coverage which was insanely stupid given the situation, he was in single coverage with a freaking Safety. If you’re stupid enough to put the best WR on the planet Earth in single coverage, game on the line, make sure it is with your best CB.

Poor planning, poor preparation, poor communication, poor play selection, and poor execution. Am I leaving anything out?

  16. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

The Bucs are notorious for not being set by the time the ball is snapped. It’s this type of detail the Bucs lack and I blame it on coaching. I’m sure this has irked someone like Brady even more. To be honest with you I find it disrespectful when you are a professional and can’t get the little things right. Gosh this just irks me!

  17. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Sapp is right, of course. There is just no excuse to let Cooper Cupp have single coverage, with the game on the line!
Charlie Weiss said it best to Tom Brady, when he said “Tom, Bowles let you down”.
Bowles was also called out by Tony Dungy and others.
I am still sick over that loss.

  18. Hodad Says:

Brady abused Bowles Jet defenses when he was there. Brady knows you need a good defense to win. Does Brady trust Bowles, I doubt it. If he leaves, Bowles could be the reason why.

  19. Bosch Says:

Hey chop how could the players be thinking the Rams were playing for OT after the the first Krupp reception. I don’t buy it.

  20. Bosch Says:

Hodad is right. Make a Bowels Movement increases the chances Brady won’t retire.

  21. fern Says:

another has been that could not handle a loss.

  22. View from 132 Says:

Not a big Sapp fan, but he’s spot on here. But he could’ve backed up the tape to the prior play, as well. Kupp beat 3 guys to get out of bounds. If he’s tackled in bounds, this play never happens.

  23. Ken Says:

Great breakdown by Sapp there. David didnt even take a step… Just stood there and watched the play.

Also, how is no one bumping Kupp there? Even if it gets called holding… who cares? How you going to let him run by you 50 yards down field wide open?

  24. Joe M Says:

Our Dline needs to start testifying where the blame should go and what the hell really happened!! BA threw the whole line under the bus. That’s b..sht. these guys practiced hard all week and this stupid sht happens. C’mon Dline somebody fess up. You guy shouldn’t be takin the fall for this… no way.

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

And ladies and gents, that was not Bowles fault. That was the player’s fault. Thanks video replay.

  26. nick houllis Says:

I just question the You can’t blitz Stafford talk. I heard it too. But I’ve heard the same about Brees. maybe rogers and Brady too? a few others? all the good ones can beat the blitz. still, on that last play. send 4 play deep. second guessing is easy though. no one was calling for Bowles last week.

  27. Zac Says:

Vegas said Bucs -3 and what do you know. Rigged. He let Cooper kupp get behind him on purpose.
