Injury List Is Long And Ugly

January 19th, 2022

Bucco Bruce Arians.

As Joe already pointed out, Playoff Lenny is touch and go. So too are many others.

Today, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said he plans on having a full workout tomorrow. This morning was more of a walk-through. By tomorrow, Arians said he will have a better idea of the health status of several players.

Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com has the full and long list of guys who, if the Bucs had a full workout today, would not have practiced.

Of course, the key concern here is the offensive line, particularly right tackle Tristan Wirfs. Earlier this week, Arians said Wirfs has a high ankle sprain. So Joe has a difficult time believing Wirfs could play Sunday and if he could, would he be immobile?

Arians said he has great confidence in his backups, noting that several offensive linemen can play multiple positions on the line. He cited how third-string guard Nick Leverett came off the bench and filled in solidly at left guard in the win at Indianapolis.

Personally, Joe is going to be wearing out his rosary over the Bucs’ offensive line this Sunday.

    Scary Indeed Joe.

Wishing we had the Packers luck right now. They get to face a 49ers team who’s star players (not named Deebo) are injured in Bosa and Warner. They also have a banged up QB.

Conversely, they are getting back, Za’Darius Smith, David Bahktiari, Jaire Alexander and Whitney Mercilus.

They are about as lucky and fortunate as our Bucs are unlucky and unfortunate. C’mon Football Gods 🙏

The 49ers are an impressive team………and they can beat the Packer too.

We are along way from Sunday. I expect majority of these guy to all be returning. The exception might be Wirfs but if he can play through the pain I am sure he will he is pretty tough.

  5. BA4President Says:

Joe, any chance of Aaron Donald being suspended for trying to choke a player for the second time in one season?? I’m surprised he didn’t get ejected on MNF when he ripped off a guys helmet and then punched him.

Man Joe..We are truly the walking wounded. I’m thinkin..Our Defense has got to make this a statement game. I mean one of those physical Knock’em on their A’s, take no prisoners type games. Our crowd has got to be lights out loud come Sunday. A victory can be had but this is going to take an all out super effort.

    LOL Highly unlikely. 🙂

    It’s ok

  9. Adrnagy Says:

Just go 6 oline. Max protect & run. Quick passes.

  10. Jeff Says:

I don’t think they can scheme their way out of this. Rams will pressure with 4 and their secondary will double Mike and Gronk. That’s game over.

  11. Jp09 Says:

Always doom and gloom. We already knew Wirfs & Jensen weren’t going to practice and updates would be given on Friday about their availability. Jones & SMB have been hurt so nothing new there and JPP always has days off and has been on the injury list since he’s been here. I’d expect Jensen to play and witfs to be a game time decision

  12. Steven007 Says:

Jeff, if it’s four against five, and very often six, with an occasional chip from a running back too, that should allow Tom, the passer with the quickest release in the NFL this season ample time to get off passes. Fingers crossed.

  13. Steven007 Says:

Jp, I agree. I mean we might as well forfeit right?! Come on… No one ever knows how the game will play out until the end. We are at home, the Rams are on a short week traveling cross country and time zones. Vegas has us favored for a reason.

  14. crazyBucs_CL Says:

the real problem Sunday is WR. we don’t have WRs. Just ME.
I don’t know how can we be SB contender, without WRs!!!!

  15. SOEbuc Says:

But I also think this is some rest as of Wednesday practice. JPP may not practice at all but still start and the return of our LB was huge last week . I have hope for Jensen, not for Wirfs. SMB was dinged up last week and there hasn’t been a serious announcement about him. Wirfs, RoJo, and Cyril are the ones I don’t think have a chance. Keep a lot of 6 man oline, we got good pass protection RB, good drop down RB. Let’s keep the faith Bucs fans. LFG!!!

    Play off smoke and mirrors

  17. crazyBucs_CL Says:

looks like Wirfs may be done. That injury needs surgery for the player to be 100%, and 3-4 months recovery.
    How severe is?????

  18. David Crum Says:

No way Aaron Donald’s getting suspended or even fined probably.

Quite honestly it’s BS how he gets away with crap like that every single year. He’s praised constantly about being the best defensive player, and deservedly so, but he’s also a giant a h o l e with massive roid rage or something going on and needs to be checked… hard

  19. PSL Bob Says:

What did I miss? What’s wrong with Perriman? Don’t remember him being hurt in the game.

  20. 4eva_i_luv_tampabay Says:

This is a coaches game. We get to see why Harold Goodwin is the assistant head ball coach and offensive line coach/run game coordinator. Put the players in position to succeed is all I ask.

  21. adam from ny Says:

regarding wirfs, it’s not about him playing thru the pain as much as it is about can he move around properly and do the job…

obviously he’s a tough dude, but if he can’t be mobile enough to protect tom then he’s gotta sit…

    it sucks

  22. adam from ny Says:

the donald skirmish will be a non issue, i just re-watched and it’s minor on field bs

  24. Oxycodoms Says:

Getting a bye this year earlier in the season as opposed to later last season is going to hurt . Bucs needed that first seed

  25. LongSeason Says:

Saw a lot of Iggles fans happy we have injuries on our team, especially o-line. Philly fans rooting for injuries to our players. I expect nothing less from them. Maybe Iggles fans like that should go throw snowballs at Santa. At least they are good at that.
