Warren Moon Says Bucs Are Top Dogs In NFC

December 18th, 2021

Warren Moon

Hall of Fame NFL gunslinger Warren Moon doesn’t have Super Bowl experience, but he knows plenty about winning championships as a five-time winner of the Grey Cup, Canada’s Super Bowl.

Moon also knows all about 40-something quarterbacks. He was a Pro Bowler at 41 for the Seahawks in 1997 (aka ancient times).

Speaking on CBS Sports Radio this week, Moon shared his confidence in the 2021 Bucs. Asked for his top-dog contenders in the NFC, Moon went right to Tampa and named no other team.

Moon, 65, likes the roster strength from top to bottom, says Tom Brady is unquestionably elite and, most important, “these guys know how to win.” The latter reason is a such a predictable take from those who’ve won championships, and there certainly is something to the intangible of winning.

Joe sees the Bucs in a similar light. Aaron Rodgers has a 7-8 record in the playoffs since winning the Super Bowl during the 2010 season. Rams QB Matthew Stafford has never won a playoff game, and Kyler Murray has no playoff experience.

The Bucs are the clear top dogs in the NFC. For Joe, that holds if the Bucs end up with the No. 2 seed. Joe would consider the Bucs the favorite to win the NFC Championship game wherever it is held. They know how to win.

Spot on Joe. Our Bucs are playoff seasoned and ready to repeat. ARod is, well, ARod, a whinny, petulant wanna be. Kyler Murray is underwhelming on his best day. Matt Stafford is a baller with one reciever. I have to wonder how he will react after getting blasted by our headhunter Shaq Barrett. He left Detroit for a reason, folding up his tenting after taking so many hard shots. I liked Moon, dude was absolutely fearless, and did move the Huston Oilers downfield. If memory serves, I believe his back was none other that the great Earl Campbell, he of the tree-trunk thighs. Moon is right. Bucs are the alpha dog on the porch. Lastly, After this season Tom Brady will have only two unringed digits left. What to do? Toe ring?
    Go Bucs!

Only short time in 1984 were Moon and Campbell together for 6 games and Oilers were 0-6 when Campbell was traded to the Slimy Saints.

Games still have to be played. Anything..And I do mean Anything can happen in this NFl. Don’t beat your chest just yet Buc fans, more games are on the horizon.
Covid is here to stay and it strikes teams at the least expected time as does injuries. I am optimistic but cautiously so.

That’s my favorite quarterback of all times talking !! I grew up watching Warren Moon play. That’s why I can’t wait until we develop our own quarterback because growing up a oilers fan that’s why I stand behind Trask a 100 percent!!! Go bucs!!

You know I ain’t here to disagree. I’ll always be pulling with every fiber of my being for this team but I legitimately believe the Bucs are the best team in the NFL…again

Never watched but I think Warren Moon has the record of Canadian League Championships. I do not think that happens by accident. He knows a thing or two about how to do the extra things or little things to become a champ.

  9. Marine Buc Says:

Warren Moon was a great QB. I loved watching this guy drop back and fire off passes. He had the smoothest drop back and delivery in his time… Tough as nails.

  10. Buczilla Says:

Man, if Moon had played with the sissy a$$ rules that we have today, his numbers would be in the stratosphere. Awesome quarterback.

Moon was a hell of a talent in college as well at the University of Washington. I think he won a Rose Bowl.

  12. FortMyersDave Says:

Yeah man, Warren Moon is one of the most knowledgeable voices out there as far as winning QBs go.. The dude was the ultimate team mate, every time he got on the grid iron he gave 100% and all of his takes are thoughtful and often quite accurate!
