Jaelon Darden, Rakeem Nuñez-Roches Hit The COVID List

December 23rd, 2021

The Sickness is still with us.

The Bucs are going to start running out of players.

Return man Jaelon Darden and defensive tackle Rakeem Nuñez-Roches have been placed on the dreaded COVID list after they tested positive for The Sickness. To be reactivated, they have to test negative after taking two tests 24 hours apart.

The injury list is a long one.

Mike Evans (hamstring), Antoine Winfield (foot), Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) and Tom Brady (veterans day) did not practice today. Antonio Brown (ankle) and Richard Sherman (Achilles) were limited in practice today. Those who were full-go were Jamel Dean (illness), Mike Edwards (knee) and Bradley Pinion (right hip).

Additionally, Lavonte David and Playoff Lenny were placed on injured reserve, ending their regular season. Both will now miss a minimum of three games.

Darden on Covid list could be a blessing in disquise.

  2. Listnfrmafar Says:

I know Nunez comes in for Vea, who is behind him? Darden, I am not sure who else maybe I hate to say it Vaughn?

  3. Coburn Says:

David is one of my favourite Bucs, but we should prob look at a mid found pick to groom under him and who knows if we can afford white on a second contact down the road

  4. Joe Says:

    Steve McLendon.

  5. Swampbuc Says:

Sorry to hear about Nacho, but ssomeone probably gave Darden a covid cocktail and told him it would help him play football better. Losing Darden is addition by subtraction.

It was stupid to let Mick walk.

  6. tampabayallday Says:

Great news cuz Darden is complete garbage.

  7. Jmarkbuc Says:

Man I hope Rojo has his head out of his a$$….

There’s no way these are the last ones to hit the list. Omicron chuckles at the vaccine. Best to get the imminent outbreak out of the way now.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

So many NFL players have died from COVID that the Bucs secondary changed their names to the gravediggers. It’s really a sad situation. It’s the right thing to shutdown players even if they’re tripled vaxxed, asymptomatic and in perfect health. We can’t be too safe, because that’s what football is about… being super safe.

  10. Tbtb12 Says:

    @Rod
Asymptomatic people can still transmit the sickness. That’s why they can’t play

  11. ModHairKen Says:

One of the Omicron symptoms is the desire to avoid contact with other humans. So that explains it.

I know, and I’m also say, who cares. If you’re vaxxed or have natural immunity already, it’s incredibly unlikely you’re going to get any type of severe sickness. If, on top of that, you’re young and in perfect health, now you just dropped a 0.1% chance to like a 0.0001% chance.

Also while asymptomatic people can spread the virus, it’s much less likely as their viral load is much lower (at least in every single case I’ve ever read about). That is part of why the NFL is saying they will allow players with COVID to play even if they’re still positive, if their load is light enough.

The issue is no one really knows what those numbers should be, and they’re just making stuff up. At this point you have nearly 2 full seasons of data that shows that this doesn’t affect players. Also we have nearly 2 full years of data that shows this virus doesn’t affect young people who are in good health.

At some point you say it’s time to move on. We have the data that shows this isn’t an issue for the player demographic. That IS science. That IS what the numbers show. That information is being ignored because people are just in CYA mode.

    ———

One of the big symptoms of OMICRON is being tired. That, a sore throat, a runny nose and headache. So basically, it’s a cold.

Which is great news and to be expected since this is the natural mutation path that these things take. Most of these things run wild for about 2-years, then suddenly disappear as quickly as they appeared. We’ve never had the science available in the past to track the rise and fall of this stuff in detail, but basically what we believed was that they mutate to get less and less severe, with new strains that pop-up that are ultra contagious and not that virulent.

Assuming that all the early info is correct, and holds true, OMICRON will wipe out Delta, spread insanely fast (everyone will likely get it in the next 6 weeks or so) and then mostly disappear. In the past pockets of various mutations will pop-up here and there for a few years, but again, they’re generally going to be very mild. That’s what history tells us, and assuming the Chinese didn’t mutate this thing themselves, it should act like every other virus in history.

The HITS just keep on coming.

  15. Defense Rules Says:

Rod Munch … ‘Also we have nearly 2 full years of data that shows this virus doesn’t affect young people who are in good health.’

There’s a John Hopkins study Rod that looked at that. It concluded that ‘of more than 3,000 adults ages 18 to 34 who contracted COVID-19 and became sick enough to require hospital care, 21% ended up in intensive care, 10% were placed on a breathing machine and 2.7% died.’

So maybe perhaps you MIGHT want to caveat your comment somewhat.

  16. ModHairKen Says:

I was making a joke about Darden falling down and running out of bounds to avoid a hit. Sorry for the weak attempt at humor.

    …………………………..

Every variant chuckles at the Virus. That is why ‘they’ will be pushing for everyone to take a NEW EXPERIMENTAL vaccine ever 6 to 9 months. Dang, some people will look like Heroin addicts in a couple years while STILL catching it.
Go BIG PHARMA! Time to invest in their stocks.

  18. SB Says:

Wow to that put in the corner Joe. Your antiquated ‘filters’ are a joke.

Hopefully covid has the same effect on Darden it did on Devin White last year…

  20. Mort Says:

Could have EASILY kept Mickens if they’d simply put AB on IR When they should have.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Amazing timing… front page story on ESPN…

Data shows asymptomatic individuals not spreading COVID-19, NFL chief medical officer says…

  22. bucschamp Says:

how can Darden get covid when he’s afraid of contact??

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Defense Rules – 3,000 out of how tens of millions? How many people in their 20s killed themselves in the last year because of depression brought on by isolation due to lockdowns? How many thousands will die because of medical procedures that have been pushed back or not performed?

The virus is real, and it’s very serious for old people and people in poor health. Those people should take precautions. For everyone else they should simply know the risks and be allowed to choose life as they choose to live it.

There is nothing written anywhere that says life is risk free, and the world needs to be made of nerf to protect you against all dangers. If you’re young and in good health and still afraid of this, then you’re greatly misinformed. However that is your right, and its your right to lock yourself in your home and not come out until its “over”, not that it will ever be over if that’s your mindset. You do not, however, have the right to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

If you’re old, or in bad health, wear your N95 mask, get a new vax every 6-weeks. I’m not kidding, the vaccine works, I’m literally saying if you’re scared and you’re in the demo of people affected by this, go get vaxxed constantly, while it does almost nothing to stop you from getting COVID or spreading it, it will protect you from serious illness. But leave everyone else alone.

In any case OMICRON is the last days of this, but some people don’t want that, they want this to continue on forever because it gives them great joy to tell everyone else how to live their lives. Thankfully, we don’t live in one of those states, even if there’s a bunch of people in here that wish they did.

  24. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ok let’s not panic, last season Rojo was the premier RB until the end of the season, last season Bucs receivers were Evan’s, Godwin, Scotty & Tyler (he was real green), Gronk just got off the couch so OJ & Brate were the premier TE and AB didn’t come in until what week 8? Godwin is a huge loss but Bucs won games with less. Gronk healthy, AB ready to go, BA has Evan’s playing possum and Rojo actually went 2 for 2 receiving last Sunday. LVD loss sucks but we didn’t have White and LVD for Washington playoff game. Bucs will be ok.
