He’s Back!

December 30th, 2021

No more COVID?

Well, this is a strong ray of sunshine on the second-last day of 2021.

Bucs stud receiver Mike Evans is off the dreaded COVID list. How so? Well, NBC Sports Edge reported Evans practiced today.

If Evans is able to play Sunday, he will enter the game 101 receiving yards short of his eighth-consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season. Hitting that mark would extend his NFL record to eight seasons.

Last year, Evans broke the tie he was in with Randy Moss for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin a career.

Mike trying to break HIS record!!!😂

  2. Rod Munch Says:

That would be awesome if he’s back, gets the 101 yards without needing game 17, and then he can rest.

However, Joe did say earlier this week it might be cold and wet there, and since it’s on turf, if that weather turns out to be the case, I’d have no issues with sitting him this week, but I’m still getting him the 101 yards vs the Panthers, even if it’s throwing to him 25 times in a row for 4.1 yards per catch.

  3. DoooshLaRue Says:

Get him his record but please don’t do it JayMiss style TB.

  4. jerseybuc Says:

I am in finals of my 16 team fantasy league with 13 as my top receiver. That said, not sure I am really happy to see this. Turf at Metlife has had a life of its own, and while it is supposed to be in the 50s or even 60s here Sunday I think Mike could use the time off. We can’t take any game for granted but I really want the team as healthy as possible come playoff time.

  5. tampabuscsbro Says:

    He really should be resting…………

  6. Rod Munch Says:

jerseybuc – I see two completely different weather forecasts for Sunday. Both show a temp around 50, but one says mostly clear, maybe 15% chance of rain, the other says 70% chance of rain. I guess we’ll see.

But just resting a player for the sake of resting them for 3 3/4th games to close out a season, no way. If Mike is healthy and ready to play, Mike needs to get reps with Brady, and Brady would be the first to say that.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Who are all of these doctors who think they know Evans health better than he does?

This isn’t a one game rest we’re talking about. Mike went out early in the Saints game, missed last week, and now you guys want him out 2 more games. That’s nearly 4-games you want him to miss over ‘health’ when you don’t even know his health.

If it was one game, before the playoffs, then sure. Missing nearly a month and just sitting on the sideline for no reason. No way.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The word was that the Carolina game rest was a precaution…..I believe he was ready…..He should be fine….
That is an extraordinary record and I hope he extends it.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If you think AB is hard to cover……..check him out when Evans is on the field.

  10. Bird Says:

I predicted he would play past week which it appears coaches actually put cabash on

Good to hear. AB and mike and Gronk
    Good luck jets

Their best DB Hall out w covid i believe

  11. BA4President Says:

I guess that hamstring issue wasn’t as big as thought. I just assumed he was likely to sit out until the playoffs.

  12. Jp09 Says:

@Rod I’m with you, need to see Mike, AB & Gronk play together because these are the dudes who Brady will be throwing to in the playoffs. Can’t be scared of injuries, if they happen it’s unfortunate but the Bucs are still battling for a higher seed

  13. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

Need to finish strong and hope Fudge Packers drop 2

  14. captivajim Says:

Mike is trying to continue his record-figures Jets will be easy mark

  15. Mike Says:

He should play and keep that streak alive, no doubt.

  16. Buczilla Says:

    Hell yes!

  17. Cobraboy Says:

    But how is the hammy?

  18. Sil Says:

listen I’m all for Mike getting his record but please please please sit his ass down I need him healthy for the playoffs and a Hamstring injuries can really be a pain to overcome specially if you rush back. Look at James Harden for example. Id rather he sit his productive self down and get the chip again.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

I smell another Gronk playing him too early. If he can’t play in the Playoffs because his hamstring flares up or pops, FIRE BA!

  20. unbelievable Says:

I wouldn’t risk that hammy on cold, wet turf TBH.

Let him get some snaps against Carolina and otherwise enjoy the extra healing time.

  21. Arn Platz Says:

    Great news

  22. Eddie Marz Says:

I like it when ALL our receivers are on the field. Just find the one most open. Glad Evans is back, hope he extends his record. Anyway you have to “build up” for the playoffs not sit and rest. GOBUCS!

  23. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey we need Mike on the field immediately, I mean hey just pop the hammy before the 1st qtr is over lol. AND FIRE BA LOLOLOLOL

No need to bring back Mike this week or next week.
But if Mike wants an 8th season of 1000 yards, whatever.
It would be cool to get it, but at what cost?
I would hold Mike out at least 1 more game. Like A Becht said, rest an extra week after it feels good.
Why screw around with his hammy.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  24. DaBux Says:

I would really prefer he sit this one out and gets the record at home. No way you risk him against that garbage team. Joe is spot on with his take on this.

  25. Cobraboy Says:

@DaBux: this J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets game IS at home.

  26. PassingThru Says:

I’m on the fence. I’d like to see Evans totally acclimated and up to speed for the playoffs, which means getting him on the field for these last two games. On the other hand, Lady Luck stopped blowing on our dice, and injuries seemingly pile onto more injuries this season. If there’s the slightest doubt, give him the week off. That means I’ll hedge: dress Evans, but only put him into the game if it somehow becomes necessary.

  27. Craig Says:

I don’t want him to relapse. It is so derned easy to do. There is another game after this, so don’t play him too hard.

Let Grayson get a hundred and Evans 50-75. He can finish it off next week.

  28. DBS Says:

When did they change the site. Bucs @ Jets is not a home game.

  29. TheBradyBunch Says:

    Cobra – wrong!

  30. LakelandSteve Says:

Evans is a warrior! Another Bucs future Hall of Famer

  31. Jersey buc Says:

I really hope mike or the staff don’t push him back for that 8. Team will need him in the playoffs

  32. JimbobBucsFan Says:

I don’t know if ME “should” play or not. I trust our coaches and staff to make good football decisions. If he really wants to, by all means let him play, otherwise! I’m sure records are a secondary priority for him, just as is the case for TB.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Buc king Says:

    Let’s go mikey

  34. Kgh4life Says:

Surprised to say the least. If Mike was able to practice without any limitations he should definitely play on Sunday.

  35. orlbucfan Says:

I hope ME13’s hamstring is fine. Covid? Believe me, he does NOT want to catch the crud!

I am looking forward to catching the Omicron as it would be my Third time with the ‘crud’. Both times already were less than the Flu.
I, However, Do NOT want to pop a Hammy and be out for 3 months or so.
To each his own I guess.

  37. SB Says:

I am down to a 5 handicap right now.

  38. David Says:

    How’s the hamstring??

He’s got to get to 1000 but I also want him to be healthy for the playoffs

  39. David Says:

    SB

The fact that it did not affect you much is great
but it’s also an idiotic thing to say since 5 1/2 million people around the world have died from it including 2 people that I know.

  40. David Says:

a lot of opinions about his hamstring… No one hears knows the extent of the injury or has any clue about it. They have some good doctors working in the NFL. If he plays, to me that means there was no chance of risking anything further. I’ll trust them

  41. Cobraboy Says:

Brady Bunch: you are correct, @ NYJ Sunday. Mea Culpa.

  42. Antman Says:

Just goes to show these covid regulations are bunch of BS

  43. John Paul Says:

The most under rated wait no no. Everyone knows his stats, Mike Evans is the most under “Talked About” receiver in the N.F.L. In Tampa we know he is the Greatest Receiver EVER.

  44. Beazo- Bucs Says:

I’m of the mind to rest him take no chances on wet turf
