Gerald McCoy Says Donovan Smith Is A Pro Bowler

December 4th, 2021

Gerald McCoy knows a lot about the Pro Bowl. He went to six straight as a Buccaneer during The Lost Decade of Tampa Bay football.

McCoy was even voted Pro Bowl captain at his last game in Orlando, eating breakfast with Sean Peyton and soaking up all kinds of love from his NFL brethren.

You better believe McCoy takes the Pro Bowl honor seriously, so Joe took note that only one current Bucs player formally has been endorsed by McCoy on Twitter as a 2022 Pro Bowler. That would be ironman left tackle Donovan Smith.

You can see McCoy’s social media work below.

Joe cannot argue the notion. Smith is having his best season and is the trusted blindside of the least-pressured quarterback unit in the game. He may not be Trent Williams of the 49ers (he isn’t) but he’s damn good.

And to think so many thought general manager Jason Licht was a moron for re-signing Smith to a fat contract after the 2018 season.
