“We Know How They’re Going To Attack Us”

November 14th, 2021

Jamel Dean

Confidence is oozing from the Bucs defense.

Specifically, there’s a lot coming from third-year cornerback Jamel Dean. He’s been the Bucs’ No. 1 corner for weeks and has stepped up his game.

Dean is no Pro Bowler, but he hasn’t crumbled under heightened pressure.

This morning, Dean was talking on the Buccaneers Radio Network about how facing quarterback Taylor Heinicke and Washington in January has the Bucs very prepared for today’s 1 o’clock kickoff.

“We know how they’re going to attack us,” Dean said.

The Tampa Bay defnse will keep a sharp eye on Heinicke and key in on top-flight receiver Terry McLaurin, per Dean. He says he’s very ready for the challenge, in parted because he “worked on my body” over the bye week.

Dean said he’s a much improved player this season and he looks forward to that showing even more in the second half of the year.

“I feel like I’m more detailed in what I do now,” Dean said. “I feel like I’ve taken my game to another level with more studying.”

Hope Dean and all the secondary have a dominant performance today.

Very off topic…..Hey Joe, the “who to root for” worked like a charm last week !!!
    Thank you!–Joe

Lets see the offense start of hot. Give the defense even more confidence playing with the lead.

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

Us #StickCarriers will be hyper-focused on Dean today then since he’s ai confident

I just rewatched the wild card game. Soft coverage and lack of containment on Heineken won’t get it done. I would double McLauren all day, he’s the only WR that scares me. Their TE 89 killed us in the playoff game. Give him to LVD. Let Devin spy Heineken. Then execute the tackles!

  5. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

This game is not going to be a walk in the park.

  6. Bucs Win Says:

I agree with Joe’s assessment of Dean’s play, I felt like he would crumble but to his credit he’s been solid.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Swampbuc — #89, Sims, they list him at WR. He’s only got 3 catches on the year, so he seems to be out of favor, or maybe injured, not sure.

Agree on doubling McLauren. Not sure if Samuels is still out injured or not, but I’d still focus on McLauren. Their other top WR is Humphries, who is exactly the type of guy that this secondary won’t be able to stick with, he could have a big day if the defense can’t get pressure.

    overrated

They knew it and still couldn’t stop them. Pathetic defense giving up a 11 minute drive to close out a game!
