Quad Injury For Devin White

November 24th, 2021

Wounded

It seems the Bucs could face the NFL’s best running back without the NFL linebacker who inhales handoffs like Joe mauls Hooters wings.

Bucco Bruce Arians broke the news this afternoon. Devin White has a quad injury.

Per official team writer Scott Smith, Arians said White would not have practiced if the Bucs had a full-speed session scheduled. The injury happened late in Monday night’s game.

Joe’s not a doctor, but Joe does know it’s less than 48 hours since White was injured. There’s still time for swelling to go down, and there’s no doubt White will be rehabbing as best he can. Of course, the injury could be something much more complicated that requires more time.

Joe might not sleep well tonight. Beating the Colts on the road, winners of five of their last six, will be a serious chore, perhaps even an uphill climb. Beating them without White will make the task significantly harder.

I thought you preferred Abe’s wings?

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete’s never seen so many injuries in his life this season. Bruce doesn’t ask his players to stretch before games & everyone has covid body says Pete

  3. Adrnagy Says:

    Minter and kj

  4. Stanglassman Says:

Bucs D becomes much slower with Minter starting. Let’s hope DWhite gets better quickly.

  5. Guadalajara, Mexico Fan Says:

Bucs really need White. Indianapolis is not a Joke. The OL is nasty and the running game is their straight. The White’s speed is needed in this game. Hopping he can play on Sunday. Go Bucs !!!!

  6. Will Says:

That sucks hopefully he’ll be ready for the game. Love the kid but he’s missing a lot of tackles this year getting beat with the cut back. Think he should’ve had 2-3 sacks Monday but Jones was just able to side step him. Heck maybe this will slow him down just enough that he’ll get the sacks.
Get better team definitely needs you.
    GO BUCS!

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Devin White is the defensive player we can least afford to lose……we will sorely miss him……I think Vea will play so that helps.

  8. Lesco_Brandon Says:

COme on Devin, just rub some dirt on it, ice it up and some TLC. You’ll be fine.

  9. JGhotier Says:

I thought something happened to him as well, but second guessed myself because nobody (including the announcers) mentioned anything about it until now.

It happened on the play that Anthony Nelson got the sack on that last series I believe. You saw him get up gingerly too after the awkward tumble. He was fine up until that point as he came screaming in on a blitz like his normal self and forced an awful “block attempt” by the RB in pass pro too. There was only one play after that on Defense and he didn’t factor in on that play, so the Nelson sack play had to be when it happened.

Two games in a row an almost significant injury happens on the last defensive series of the game (Vita and White). Which begs the question, why isn’t Minter in at that point anyways? Or maybe more importantly, why aren’t Britt and/or Stuard in, getting VALUABLE reps in a game that’s out of hand and up 20 points w/ only 3 minutes left…

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Losing Devin sucks, but Kevin Minter is an excellent backup IMO. He only played in 2.5 games (substituting for LVD) this season, but has done quite well I think, especially in coverage (9 targets, 6 completions, allowing only 26 yds TOTAL). Tells me he knows how to keep things in front of him but close, which can be a very good thing. Doesn’t have Devin’s speed, but he’s solid.

  11. Hey joe Says:

Joe, I doubt anyone uses it, but you didn’t cut all of the 2021 SCHEDULE offered above before you pasted it on your website.

  12. ocala Says:

I am not saying the Colts are not good, but here are the teams they have beat this year:

Dolphins, Texans, 49ers, Jets, Jaguars and Bills(after the Bills just lost to the Jags).

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ocala, interesting not exactly the echelon of the league either. What are these trainers doing. White is a huge blow to the D. Hopefully just precautionary.

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Say Joe, I share your concerns. I’ve been watching the Colts on my 6 game feed for the past 3 weeks and they have improved. Matter of fact, they are playing good ball. I fear its gonna take all hands on deck for this one. We are gonna need Ali and White. AB too. I seriously hope we are ready for an intense fight.

  15. PSL Bob Says:

Rut roh. I was feeling so good about the team getting back to full strength. Hopefully, it’s something minor and Devin can be ready to go Sunday. If it’s something that could get worse if he plays, then let him sit and hope the backups can plug the gap. A tough assignment with J. Taylor headed their way.

  16. KenFromCanada Says:

If White’s injury is even questionable. I would sit both him and Vea. I would hate to risk further injury this time of year, in a game on the road against AFC team. It will be tough game no matter who plays. Why risk injuries to other legs from compensating for injury?

  17. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Vegas says Bucs are favorites for a reason-better team.

  18. Bobby M. Says:

I don’t think much changes…..we were completely healthy and Washington walked right down the field on us. This defense is designed to attack and it can only do so if the offense is humming.

  19. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Good grief. 😩

  20. Irishmist Says:

At least our QB doesn’t have COVID toe.

  21. Francisco Guzman Says:

What’s with the injuries on this team? Not a good year to be getting injured this late into the season.

  22. Craig Says:

I pulled a quad back in eighth grade; it has never gotten back to what it originally was, and I’m 65 now.

Hope DW doesn’t have it as bad, but I would expect it to take at least 2 weeks.

Might be a good time to see if Tryon can play inside backer, though Minter is serviceable, and will get his name called for a few plays.

  23. firethecannons Says:

Arians seems like a sucker for injuries–used to complain about players when they had an injury, now he can’t wait to let his players miss multiple weeks without an end in sight–AB should of long since been back to full speed. Devin White played every snap so must not of been game ending injury.

  24. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

The Colts are playing very well right now, and Carson Wentz is looking more like the Carson Wentz of old.
They are a very physical team, that want to kick your butt.
I still think we win because we have superior firepower.
But it will not be an easy victory like the Giants were.
If we win this one, we will go 3 games up on the Saints who play Buffalo.
No way they beat Buffalo w/o Winston.

  25. Destinjohnny Says:

    54 is half speed too
I thought 45 should have been pulled late in game

  26. brooks Says:

we need 35 to win this game

  27. TOM Says:

Not good if White’s out but thank God for Minter. A really good backup.. GO BUCS!

  28. David Says:

The Colts really have not won against a good team even though they have played well and Jonathan Taylor is a beast.
Personally I think the Buccaneers offense rolls and the defense keys on and stops Taylor.
Do that and Wentz is in for a long long day.
    2 interception day

  29. LakelandSteve Says:

Devin White may be out for awhile. Kevin Minter is a good backup but he is no Devin White. White is a disruptive presence on the field. If Todd Bowles can somehow compensate for the loss of White we can win the game. If we can’t stop Jonathon Taylor then it may be a track meet, and we may be sitting here next week with the what’s wrong with the Bucs crap.
